KUANTAN: Pelakon dan penyanyi Awie, atau nama sebenarnya Ahmad Azhar Othman, semalam melafazkan cerai talak satu terhadap isterinya, Arni Nazira Anuar, di Mahkamah Rendah Syariah Kuantan.

Lafaz cerai itu dilakukan di hadapan Hakim Syarie, Abdul Wahid Md Ali, dalam bilik beliau secara tertutup. Arni sebelum ini telah memfailkan tuntutan cerai pada 27 Julai lepas. Sebaik saja keluar dari bilik hakim, Arni dilihat mengalirkan air mata.

Awie diwakili peguam syarie, Encik Mastuni Mohamad, manakala Arni oleh Cik Rohaidah Ali, yang memberitahu pemberita perceraian itu dilakukan dengan persetujuan kedua-dua pihak.

'Mereka telah bercerai talak satu secara aman dan untuk tuntutan lain hanya akan dilakukan pada satu tarikh yang bakal ditetapkan kemudian,' katanya sebagaimana ditukil Bernama semalam.

Mengenai punca perceraian, beliau berkata alasan yang diberikan kedua-dua pihak adalah tidak ada lagi persefahaman dalam rumah tangga.

Cik Rohaidah berkata Arni boleh membuat sebarang tuntutan, termasuk nafkah edah, mutaah dan harta sepencarian, seperti yang telah diperuntukkan dalam enakmen. Mengenai penjagaan anak pasangan itu, beliau berkata keputusan itu akan dibuat sekali gus dengan tuntutan lain.

Pasangan yang mendirikan rumah tangga pada 1998 itu mempunyai dua anak, Putri Aleeya Antasha, enam tahun, dan Putri Aleefa Antasha, empat tahun, yang dijaga Arni. - Bernama.

KUALA LUMPUR: Penyanyi dan pelakon popular, Awie, 38 tahun, mengakui perkahwinan keduanya antara sebab mengapa beliau berpisah dengan bekas isterinya, Arni Nazira Anuar.

Awie mendirikan rumah tangga dengan Cik Rozana Misbun, adik aktres Haliza Misbun, sejak setahun lalu.

Dalam satu sidang media khas bagi memperjelaskan isu perceraiannya dengan Arni pada 16 Oktober lalu, kelmarin, Awie berkata beliau tidak pernah berniat merahsiakan perkahwinan ke duanya daripada pengetahuan bekas isterinya tetapi cuba mencari masa sesuai untuk menjelaskan perkara itu kepada Arni.

'Tapi ada orang tidak bertanggungjawab menyebarkan gambar pernikahan saya di Internet untuk merosakkan rumah tangga kami. Apabila tengok muka anak saya, tidak sampai hati memberitahu Arni dan ini membuatkan saya bertangguh berterus terang.

'Saya cuba buat yang terbaik kerana ingin anak-anak membe sar dalam sebuah keluarga, malangnya perceraian pula berlaku,' katanya.

'Seboleh-bolehnya saya mahu menyelamatkan rumah tangga yang saya bina bersama Arni selama lapan tahun kerana saya sangat menyayangi keluarga dan saya mahu membesarkan anak-anak bersama ibu mereka.

'Namun, apabila terlalu banyak permintaan cerai diajukan, dayuslah saya sebagai lelaki jika tidak memenuhi apa yang dipintanya itu. Kesabaran yang ada terus menjadi tawar dan hambar,' katanya menahan sebak terbuku lama di jiwanya itu.

Akhirnya, Awie menangis teresak-esak di hadapan wartawan yang hadir.

'Maafkan saya... beginilah saya sejak dua tiga hari ini. Mujurlah kedua-dua anak saya Aleeya dan seorang lagi, Puteri Aleefa Antasha, memahami situasi saya.

'Namun, apakah dosa anak saya sehingga mereka ditinggalkan ibu sendiri? Dan, saya juga benar-benar terperanjat apabila Arni tergamak menyerahkan hak penjagaan kedua-dua anak kami sepenuhnya kepada saya. :clap:

'Jikalau benarlah saya ini seorang bapa atau suami yang tidak bertanggungjawab, mengapa hak penjagaan kedua-dua anak ini diserahkan kepada saya? Namun Tuhan itu Maha Mengetahui segala-galanya dan inilah antara kebesaran-Nya,' katanya. - BHM, Harian Metro.

PENYANYI ALI AHMAD MENINGGAL DUNIA

SEDANG ramai umat Islam bergembira menyambut Lebaran hari ini, keluarga penyanyi veteran, Ali Ahmad Anwar, diselubungi kesedihan selepas beliau meninggal dunia awal pagi semalam.

Allahyarham Ali Ahmad, 56 tahun, yang pernah menjadi juara peraduan menyanyi di peringkat Asia pada 1981, meninggal dunia di Hospital Besar Changi (CGH) kerana dikatakan menghidap gastrik.

Ketika dihubungi, isterinya, Cik Alimah Ahmad, 55 tahun, berkata sukar bagi beliau dan anak-anaknya menerima pemergian mengejut Allahyarham.

'Setiap Ramadan, arwahnya mesti diserang gastrik. Namun, beliau tetap berpuasa. :hatdown:

'Selalunya, selepas berbuka dan makan ubat keadaan pulih semula.

'Jadi pemergiannya macam satu mimpi. Rasanya macam tidak benar ini berlaku. Tapi kami mesti reda,' ujarnya menahan sebak.

Bapa tiga anak berusia 22, 19 dan 16 tahun itu menghembuskan nafasnya yang terakhir sejurus selepas tiba di hospital sekitar 4.30 pagi semalam.

Seorang teman artis yang rapat dengan keluarganya, Cik Mahani Mohamed, berkata Allahyarham mengadu sakit gastrik sejak Sabtu lalu.

Menurutnya, Cik Alimah telah menghantar suaminya ke hospital selepas keadaan beliau bertambah teruk.

Allahyarham dikatakan memang mempunyai sejarah penyakit gastrik sejak sekian lama.

Beliau merupakan pemenang Peraduan Menyanyi Amatur Asia keenam di Hongkong pada 1981.

Allahyarham, yang mendendangkan lagu nyanyian Larry Graham, One In A Million You, di Hongkong, mewakili Singapura selepas memenangi Peraduan Menyanyi Amatur Pra-Asia Redifussion di sini.

Selepas kejayaannya di Hongkong, Allahyarham menceburi bidang nyanyian sepenuh masa.

Sebelum menjadi penyanyi profesional, beliau mengendalikan kedai barangan sukan.

Allahyarham, yang menetap di Tampines, terus aktif menyanyi walaupun selepas menjalani pembedahan bagi mengeluarkan nanah di tekaknya pada 2003.

I will make Don's sequel: SRK

It seems Shah Rukh Khan's irresistible charm and the incredible slickness and style used by Farhan Akhtar in "Don - The Chase Begins" have not been able to save the film from biting the dust.

Just like Karan Johar's infidelity drama "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna", this action thriller has been given the thumbs down by the audience, going by the upsetting drop in collections since it released Oct 20, a day before Diwali.

In the first few days, "Don", a remake of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrer of the same name, garnered good profits mainly due to its pre-release publicity and slick television promos. Critics have since panned it as a weak film.

"Any film which has a good star cast and proper media hype does well in the first week in terms of collections. It happened with 'Don'. It had big names like Shah Rukh and director Farhan Akhtar and it was marketed smartly. So the initial collections were good," said Deepka Gupta, a New Delhi-based media consultant.

According to a report on boxofficeindia.com, the film did exceedingly well in the first week in spite of discouraging reports. It earned hit status in Mumbai, east Punjab, West Bengal and Mysore. The first week box office collections were 75-80 percent. However, the eighth day registered a drop in collections at many centres. It stood at about 55 percent.

However, Shah Rukh prefers not to take the critics seriously or the viewpoint of moviegoers, many of whom have not liked the modern "Don" at all.

"It is a waste of money. I couldn't sit through the movie after the interval," said Kanat Jain, a 60-something movie buff, who wasn't floored by the film's slickness.

Many others found the film stylish, but beyond that they had nothing good to say about it.

"The title song was shot nicely. Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were looking good and sexy. But the script was very bad, and it appears that the director has focused only on the action scenes.

"Shah Rukh was nowhere close to Amitabh Bachchan, especially in the 'Khai ke pan Banareswala' number. I felt like closing my eyes and visualising how Amitabh had done the dance scene," Annie Mathew, a young professional working in Singapore, told.

"Shah Rukh was not at all exuding confidence. Maybe he should not do remakes any more. It seems to make him extra conscious," added Mathew, who got tickets easily for the film on the fourth day.

"In terms of style the original 'Don' was more stylish, despite this film being more technically advanced. It had a better script and cast. Amitabh had more style compared to Shah Rukh. Each character stood out in the cast," said Arundhati Chowdhury, a radio journalist.

"Other than that, the film was confusing... The pace is too fast, and it does not register. It's just an average film. One can go and watch this out of curiosity. I prefer Amitabh Bachchan as Don. Zeenat Aman was notches above Priyanka," said Chowdhury.

There is no denying that Farhan emphasised on the film's looks and ignored content, a key factor that plays a major role in the success of any film. In contrast, low-budget hit film "Khosla Ka Ghosla" did very well, a good example of content being king.

"The film's direction is very slick and the locales great. It has a very good background score, something like 'Mission Impossible'. It has a well-directed stunt scene - a drop from an aircraft and a mid-air fight scene - something like a Bond movie. It has a twist in the storyline, which leaves scope for a sequel. But the film cannot compete with the original," said Simi Gandhi, a chartered accountant and a movie buff.

Maybe Shah Rukh has hit a rough patch. After Farah Khan's directorial debut "Main Hoon Na" (2004), he has given a string of flops - "Veer-Zaara", "Swades", "Paheli and "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna". He was banking heavily on "Don" to give a boost to his sliding career graph.

Right now Shah Rukh is aggressively promoting the film. After lambasting critics for panning his film, he launched the "Don" collection of clothing for Louis Philippe - it displays clothes worn by Shah Rukh in the film. It was followed by the launch of a mobile game of "Don".

"Gaming is a very good way of marketing. It is a skill, which everyone should use. My next film is 'Chak De India' which is again a sports-based film. That lends itself to games and all. I would be game if Yashji or Adi (Yash or Aditya Chopra) bring in a game on that theme," Shah Rukh told mediapersons at the game launch.

Though the film has been given a flop status in India, it is doing well in the overseas market. In the US it raked in $1.2 million and in the Gulf grossed above 3.45 million dirhams.

In spite of its bad reviews, Shah Rukh is ready to make a sequel to "Don".

"I would love to make a sequel. If Farhan does not make it, I will definitely do so," he is quoted as having said.

Shot stylishly in Malaysia, this action thriller will appeal mainly to hardcore Shah Rukh fans.

Sanjay Dutt appears in 1993 bomb blast case

Five accused in the 1993 bomb blast case, including film actor Sanjay Dutt, today appeared before a designated TADA court which exempted them from personal appearance until further orders.

The designated TADA court, which reopened after Diwali vacation today, has already decided the fate of 74 accused and would continue delivering remaining verdict from November 2.

Judge P D Kode has so far convicted 55 accused for their complicity in the blasts conspiracy and acquitted another 19 due to lack of evidence. Among the convicted are four family members of prime absconding accused Tiger Memon.

In all, 123 accused, including Dutt, faced the trial.

Dutt and film producer Sameer Hingora, who were allowed to move out of Mumbai limits during Diwali holidays, appeared before the court along with co-accused Ashraf-ur-Rehman, Imtiaz Ghawte and Firoz Amani Malik. While Dutt had gone to Pune and Delhi during the holidays, Hingora had gone to his native town Aurangabad.

Rubina Memon, convicted by the court for complicity in the blasts, also appeared in keeping with a bail condition and was exempted till further orders.

Priyanka Chopra has turned internet savvy and decided to launch her offical website. The actress is meeting a lot of technical exprets, both from India and abroad, for this.

"It'll be an interactive website, and I will make it a point to see that it's upgraded every week. I am shooting in Mumbai for some months, so this is the time when I can meet people to get the website going." Priyanka says.

But there is a slight glitch, the domain name www.priyankachopra.com has already been booked by some cyber-squatter the day Chopra became Miss World.

"We are trying to work a deal with the person who has a right to this domain. But it seems difficult," reveals Priyanka. "There are several websites in my name, but none of them are official," she says.

Priyanka's website will have a collection of her photographs from her childhood days. It will also contain exclusive photographs from films on which she has worked and will be working in future.

Director Anurag Basu, whose forthcoming "Metro" zooms in on career stress and peer pressure, says the film shows how big city life affects people and relationships.

With Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Kangana Ranaut, Konkona SenSharma, Irrfan Khan and Sharman Joshi in the cast, the film is slated to release in January.

Basu claims "Metro" captures real life drama and is a realistic film.

"The film is about how today's big city life impacts people and relationships. We are all working at a breakneck speed. The stress, long working hours, peer pressure and loans take a toll on our personal life.

"The film shows how we get caught up in this vicious circle and everything else takes a backseat. It basically addresses real life issues," he said.

"It's about life in any metro city and not just Mumbai. I have a lot of friends working in call centres and back-offices, struggling to make money. I spoke to them, got to know about their problems and that's how the idea shaped up," Basu added.

"The characters are inspired from my acquaintances like one of my cousins and a few other associates," said the director of "Dus" and "Tum Bin".

He said: "Every character is integral to the script and contributes in a way. Shilpa is married to Kay Kay and they have a sea-facing flat. They get busy paying instalments and love takes a backseat.

"Konkona plays a fun character unlike the serious, mature roles she's done earlier. 'Metro' shows her in a different light, something that she's never done before. She studies, does her post-graduation, hunts for a job and gets busy with her career. One fine day, she realises that she's 30 and still single.

"Sharman and Kangana work in a call centre. Their rapport explores the call centre culture rampant today. Youngsters are driven by money and success and Sharman's character falls into that category," said Basu.

Aamir to appear in court in Chinkara case

Film star Aamir Khan has been summoned for questioning on November 6 by the Gujarat forest department in connection with filming the endangered chinkara, officials said on Sunday.

"We have sent a notice to Aamir Khan to be present for questioning on November 6," State Forest Minister Mangu Patel said.

Forests officials are probing the case against Aamir, which dates back to the filming in Gujarat of "Lagaan" eight years ago. The chinkara is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Officials have said Aamir, the producer of "Lagaan", did not take permission from the forest department for filming the endangered animal and thus violated the Act.
