Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra says she is a big fan of actor Shah Rukh Khan because "he inspires you to give your best."

Chopra played Khan's girlfriend in her latest movie Don, which was released last month.

"He is just plain yummy," Chopra told a movie magazine. "It took me a while to snap out of my fixation and treat him as a co-star."

Khan "just inspires you to give your best," she said. "Even now, after so many years, he seems to be just a regular guy doing his job."

Don, about a mafia head who eludes the police, is a remake of the 1978 Bollywood classic which starred movie legend Amitabh Bachchan and beauty queen Zeenat Aman.

Chopra, 24, said she has been Khan's fan since she saw him in the 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

Khan, 41, is one of the biggest Bollywood heartthrobs of the past decade and one of the highest-paid actors in India's movie world.

Bollywood, India's prolific and wildly popular Hindi-language film industry, is based in Mumbai.

Urmila now singing sensation

Actress Urmila Matondkar has accepted an offer to sing and plans to record her first song next week, a news report said on Friday.

Urmila accepted the offer from legendary singer Asha Bhonsle to sing a duet on Asha's new album, a national daily said.

Asha has lent her voice to songs lip-synched by Urmila in films like Rangeela and Chamatkar.

When Urmila recently sang a few lines to Asha, the singer reportedly liked the actress' voice.

However, Urmila is not going to make singing a full-time career, the newspaper said.

''I paint too, but that doesn't make me a Renoir,'' said Urmila. ''But the saving grace is that I definitely sing better than I paint,

Shahid & arranged marriage?

Director Sooraj Barjatya of "Hum Aapke Hain Koun?" fame says his just-released "Vivah", which deals with the concept of arranged marriage, has been his toughest film so far.

"'Vivah' is a simple film about two sensibilities coming together and discovering each other to an extent that they know more about each other than themselves. It's going back to innocence for me. This film is based on a real life story and like all my films 'Vivah' also has an emotional climax. It is my toughest film so far," said Barjatya.

The film has Shahid Kapur and Amrita Rao in lead roles. Shahid said the film's concept was very alien to him.

"I had many questions in my mind when Sooraj-ji narrated the script to me. The film is about arranged marriage, a concept very alien to a 25-year-old guy like me. I mean I've never formally met a girl for a 'rishta' (marriage) or ever had that kind of meeting in my life - though I've seen it around me in my family and friends circle. But that's about it," said Shahid.

"The film traces the journey from engagement to marriage, an area completely untouched today. I'm sure the people would identify with the film. They'll be like 'Oh! This has happened to me or this is what I told you the first time we met,'" added Shahid.

Amrita playing a coy, demure bride in "Vivah", said she was overwhelmed at the opportunity of working with Rajshri Productions.

"'Vivah' is god's gift to me. My long cherished childhood dream of working with Sooraj-ji has been fulfilled," said Amrita.

And what is her take on love marriage versus arranged marriage?

"I think marriage is the most important decision of life. It's really not about love or arranged marriage. One needs to spend adequate time with the person, know him or her completely. And faith in your partner is, of course, very important," said Amrita.

Salman and Ranbir patch up

It's not a hidden fact that Salman Khan and newcomer Ranbir Kapoor (Rishi and Neetu's son) had a fight in a nightclub a couple of years ago.

The duo recently patched up with each other and has become the best buddies. The budding actor not only shares the shooting floor but also the hair stylist.

SC rescues Sridevi from 'ex-husband'

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by a resident of Andhra Pradesh, who claimed that Bollywood actress Sridevi deserted him after 11 years of marriage.

Vicharapu Ramkrishna Gowd of Guntur District had sought restitution of conjugal rights claiming that he was legally wedded with the actress, who deserted him in 2003.

A Bench comprising Justice B P Singh and Justice P P Naolekar declined to entertain Gowd's petition.

It challenged the Madras High Court verdict which had quashed the proceedings before a family court in Chennai for restitution of his conjugal rights by imposing a cost of Rs 1 lakh on him.

He had claimed that the marriage ceremony had taken place on March 15, 1992. Gowda had first approached the family court in Chennai which had issued notice to Sridevi on March 26, 2004.

However, instead of responding to the notice, she preferred to approach the High Court which held that Gowd had failed to prove his marriage with her.

If everything goes right, Saif Ali Khan and Aishwarya Rai, for the first time, can be seen together on screen. As per rumours, 慏hoom' director Sanjay Gadhvi will cast them in his next, to be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd. The 慞arineeta' duo Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan are teaming up again; as per reports director Mira Nair of 慚onsoon Wedding' fame is making a short film on AIDS awareness, where Saif Ali and Vidya will be seen together with actor Shiney Ahuja.

This drive is a part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Initiative in India to combat AIDS and create awareness.

Aishwarya in trouble!

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai may have to face legal troubles after a packet containing 23,000 euros, which is about Rs. 13.5 lakhs in Indian currency, addressed to her Bandra residence in suburban Mumbai, found at the Mumbai airport. As per reports, the packet has come from Netherlands , however the sender's name has not been known yet.

Source says, the customs department, Mumbai may summon the actress for questioning. When asked, Customs Commissioner (Import) A.K. Prasad said, 揥e have not sent a notice to her formally. But we will do that later.

Rani's bouncers beat up men!

Mediapersons from a news channel were allegedly assaulted by private security guards escorting actors Rani Mukherjee, Konkana Sen Sharma and other crew members of Yash Raj banner's upcoming movie being shot in Varanasi.

The trouble started near the Dashwashamedh Ghat when the film crew, including Rani and Konkana, were leaving for their hotel after a day-long shoot at Mirghat edging the Ganga river.

When some journalists tried to get close to the crew members, security guards escorting the film crew roughed up the mediapersons.

Some of the journalists sustained injuries and one camera was damaged. Later, the police reached the spot and took control of the situation.

The film is being directed by Pradeep Sarkar of Parineeta fame and also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

It is likely to be shot over the next fortnight at various locations in the holy city, including the Ramnagar Fort housing royal family of Kashi.

Rani wants press to apologize!

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji apologized to the media for her bodyguards' alleged misbehavior to the media persons during the shooting of Yashraj production's next 慍hudiyan' in Varanasi .

Allegedly, Rani's bodyguards have beaten up some journalists, who tried to get close to her, during the shooting. Actress Konkona Sen Sharma, who's shooting at that time with Rani, also present there.

Rani, yesterday in a press meet, apologizing to the media on behalf of the Yashraj banner, said 揙n behalf of my production, I am apologizing to the media if some misbehavior has happened with the press.

Case registered against Aishwarya!

A case has been registered against Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai after a parcel, addressed to her, containing whopping 23000 euros held in Mumbai airport recently.

Someone has sent the parcel to Aishwarya from Netherlands . As per source, the Mumbai customs can summon the actress for questioning in this regard.

However, Aishwarya Rai's lawyer, while talking to the media persons in Mumbai, denied that her client has got any summon from the customs department. He also claimed her client an innocent and said she has no knowledge of the parcel.

"My client has no knowledge of the packet that was addressed to her and we are in no way a party to this. We have not yet been contacted by the Customs authorities nor has she been asked to appear for any kind of questioning," said Rai's lawyer, Girish Kulkarni.

Aishwarya is currently in Jaipur shooting Ashutosh Gowariker's historical flick 慉kbar Jodha' with Hrithik Roshan. As per source, Aishwarya apparently looked blank after she heard it from a media person on the sets of the 慉kbar Jodha'.

Aditya-Rani affair takes its toll?

Success gone to Rani's head?

Actress Rani Mukherjee has apologised to the media for the scuffle that broke out in Varanasi between her bodyguards and journalists on Monday.

The incident tool place while Rani was shooting in the holy city for her film Chudiyan under the banner of Yashraj productions.

A day after, along with the apology, Rani sought a similar reaction from the media if they were at fault.

"On behalf of my production, I am apologising to the media if some misbehaviour has happened with the press. We will also want the press ot apologise because if they have misbehaved then they should not be reluctant to say sorry," Rani said.

All her responses to media questions were heavily laced with sarcasm and made with a haughty and disdainful demeanor, leaving one wondering what she was trying to achieve through the press conference.

When a reporter interjected with a question just as Rain finished answering the previous one, in what appeared to be a premeditated response Rani flared, "Zara tameez se. Ek jane se baat kar rahe hain hum. (Behave yourself. I am speaking with someone already.)."

Then, realizing that she had actually finished answering the previous question, she continued, "Bataiye, kya aap ki kathinayee hai? (Tell me, what is your problem?)" Thinking his misery is over the reporter asked Mukerjee about the story of the film.

Mukerjee shot back, "Yeh nahin bata sakte. Bahut vaahiyaat sawaal hai. (I cannot tell. It is a very irresponsible question!)"

Another reporter suggested that she give a brief outline but Rani flatly refused, "We cannot give".

It is customary for film makers to explain the settings of the story on such occasions and Rani could have easily obliged. However, she had an agenda of her own.

"Just be happy that we have come and are shooting here," she said instead.

"The film fraternity and the press have a close bond. The point is that we should be subtle and good to each other," she added.

On Monday, the scuffle broke out when some journalists tried to get close to the crew members, including Rani and actress Konkana Sen Sharma, who were shooting on the banks of the River Ganga.

Media persons allege that the security of the crew members roughed them up.

"The things should be like, we go out of here after our shoot and give you our interviews and photo shoots and that's it. What is the point fighting and quarreling over it? The fact is that we both are not male actors, we are delicate females, so if people will create havoc, we would surely not like it," Rani said.

Mystery of Ash's cash parcel

Bollywood's glamour queen Aishwarya Rai has been questioned by the customs department that stumbled upon a mysterious postal parcel addressed to her containing 65,000 euros (Rs.3.7 million) in cash.

The parcel was marked "electronic items" and was opened by authorities during a routine check at a Mumbai post office handling overseas mail.

"The package was sent to Aishwarya Rai a month back from the Netherlands. We have sent her a notice regarding the package seeking her clarification and we are waiting for her response," Commissioner of Customs (Imports) A.K. Prasad said.

"We are not disclosing the name of the consignee for sake of the investigation. The matter is being handled by the department's Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (Imports)," Prasad told Tuesday.

"We need to record Aishwarya's statement before we lodge any case in the connection," he added.

Prasad said the cash was detected during a routine check of parcels at Mumbai's foreign post office. The parcel bore the address of the actor's Bandra residence.

Aishwarya preferred not to comment on the matter. However, her lawyer has said that his client has no knowledge of the packet that was addressed to her containing 23,000 Euros.

He also added that the actress has not been summoned by the Customs department for questioning in this regard.
