Besides awarding Bumiputera Creative and Technology companies, NEF feels that there is a need to recognize players who make our lives better through ICT. In line with the Innovative Malaysia 2010 campaign launched by YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, NEF wants to recognize these players via a People’s Choice Awards. The People’s Choice Awards have six (6) categories:
The Voting of the above categories is open to the public from now until 30 November 2013, 6pm KL Time.
Here is the instruction on how to vote
1. Click on any of the categories above and it will lead you to that category’s listing page.
2. On the page, you will find five (5) nominee cards – powered by Malaysian-made Social Content Network called “Joota.com”.
3. Click on the Like button (symbol: “heart” icon) on the card that you want to vote for.
 How to “Like” a Joota Card
4. The card will prompt you to Login to Joota. You can use your existing Facebook or Twitter account to login. Or simply create a new account on Joota.
5. Once you are logged in, click on the “Like” button again. It will turn orange in color.
6. And it is as simple as that.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I vote on MORE than 1 category? Yes. Simply go to the individual voting page.
- Can I vote for more than 1 nominee in a category? Yes. The nature of the voting is “popularity” and number of “likes”.
- Can I vote (or like) more than once for a nominee? No. The system only captures one Like per user per card. Make sure that the Like button turns to orange that indicates that you have voted.
- I made a mistake. Can I change my mind? Yes. Simply “unlike” the card to turn-off the Like. The Like button will go back to grey color.
- I am suspicious of this Joota.com and I am not comfortable signing up using my Facebook or Twitter account? Are they “legit”? At NEF, we try as much as possible to utilize softwares and platforms made by Malaysian ICT companies. Joota.com is Malaysian-made and aspires to be a global player on the social network industry. Their work has been written up on Digital News Asia, Venture Beat, e27 and more. You can listen to an interview with their co-founders on BFM 89.9′s podcast. Check out their website on www.joota.com.
- How does the voting work? At the closing date and time, NEF will tally the number of “Likes” on each of the nominees’s card. This will be tallied and witnessed by an independent auditor.
- When will I know the results? The results will be announced on the NEF Awani ICT Awards Gala Night that will be aired on Astro Awani channel 501 on (date).
