Heartbreak again for Sushmita Sen!

According to sources Sushmita Sen's relationship with Manav Menon has hit a dead end. The things are reportedly so bad that the duo have not seen each other in almost last three months.

In fact the last time the two of them were publicly seen together was at Karachi where Sush had gone for a charity show to raise funds for Imran Khan抯 cancer hospital and from there the two had travelled directly to Kolkata for the launch of Sush抯 night-club.

But it was never an easy alliance anyways, claims a common friend.

揗anav may be separated but he is still married to his wife who left him to go back to her parents in Pondicherry once the news of her affair with Sush became public," he adds.

In addition both have hectic work schedules and with Renee growing up Sushmita is very clear that her daughter must approve of her choice of men.

Renee on the other hand is still very fond of ex- boyfriend Randeep Hooda and this too is often the bone of contention in Manav and Sush抯 relationship as Hooda still is constantly around Sushmita and her daughter.

In fact Manav was not even present at the get together for Sush抯 birthday while Randeep and other friends were celebrating with Sushmita.

He is also extremely media shy and does not like any media or public attention; moreover he is under a lot of pressure from his family regarding his separation from his wife and his new found relationship with Sen.

Sushmita was not available for comment on the entire story.

don`t miss the glamour: Madhuri Dixit

Everyone is truly excited about your return in a Yashraj Films' project?
Yes, my comeback film has a bit of everything in it. Hopefully it will be something that people will like to see me back in.

Why this film directed by cinematographer Anil Mehta ?
Firstly, when they narrated the script to me I was deeply excited. I felt this would be the right film to do after a long break. The way the story is written is quite interesting. I've worked with Yashraj films before and they know me so well.

They know I'd never cause unecessary delays. More importantly, Yashji has worked wonderfully well with married actresses before.

Whether it's Raakheeji in Kabhi Kabhie or Waheedaji, or Kajol in Fanaa he's aware and sensitive to the schedules and needs of an actress who's a wife and a mother. Things may be a little out of the timetable once in a while. And I feel comfortable with them.

What was your husband's reaction to your decision to comeback to movies?
He's fully supportive of whatever I do. He feels I should've no regrets in life. He feels one's talent shouldn't be suppressed. When I decided not to work and have kids, he was all for it. Then when I opted to do Devdas he was still supportive. And now he's with me all the way.

How will you divide time between the US and Mumbai?
It will only be like one film a year or one film in two years, or maybe two films a year, depending on how I adjust my schedules. For now I thought this project will be fun to do. I don't know why it's being seen as a comeback. I was just busy taking care of my kids.

Any nervousness about taking away from their time?
I'm extremely nervous about that. But there comes a time in a woman's life when she needs to think of a world outside her home. There're so many women all over the world who work and manage a career. My children are the most important part of my life.

But they are growing and need to be a little independent. Also, my shooting in India will give the kids a chance to get in touch with their roots, to be in the country of their origins. They'll be with my family, they'll meet with their cousins. I think they'll have fun.

How much time can you give to acting?
Well once my two kids start going to school they won't be able to travel with me to India. I thought this would be a good opportunity. I wasn't desperate to get back to work. But I've worked for so many years that it's become inbred in me. So the thought of returning does excite me.

Everyone missed you after your last film Devdas. Did you miss films?
I don't miss the adulation or the glamour, though it's great to know people still miss me. What I missed was being in front of a camera and assuming various characters. Yeah, I missed that. I'm glad to have that back. Of course those five years away from the camera have been very very rewarding.

I always wanted children and a family. It was a big part of my dream. I thoroughly enjoyed that whole phase. Now that the kids are growing up, I can take a little time off for myself.

How old are the kids?
The older one is 4 ½ and the younger is 1 ½. And there's no question of leaving them behind in the US. I can't imagine my life without them. They'll come with me to Mumbai.

Looking back at your truckload of your blockbusters are you satisfied?
Ask any actor, they'll tell you they've a long way to go. To be satisfied with what you've done isn't the way to move ahead. There's always something better around the corner.

When do you start shooting?
Sometimes in Januaury 2007. And we'll be done in 3-4 months.

Then it's the return of Madhuri Dixit?
I'm doing this without any thought for the repercussions. I just want to enjoy the feeling of facing the camera.

Any apprehensions about how much cinema has changed since you last showed up?
I've heard the change is for the better. Everyone's more disciplined. That makes things easier for me. I'd be able to work better. To be part of this phase when so much is happening, is a challenging throught.

Any more projects?
Right now I'll just focus on this project, test the waters and see how I and the audience react. This film will give me the confidence to make further career decisions.

Have you met up with your director Anil Mehta as yet?
No I haven't. But I'm very familiar with his work as a cinematographer. In fact when I had to to do my ad films for Himami and I had asked for him. But he was very very busy. We just have to see what happens.

I'd like you to do comedy. There were funny moments in Indra Kumarji film. Raja had a lot of comedy. I want to do a comedy.

Which recent films have you enjoyed?
I haven't been able to watch any recent film. My kids are quite a handful. Ask me about any cartoon film and I can give you a frame-by-frame description匢 just hope everything goes smoothly. I've been away for some time.

I didn't go MISSING Yaar: Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa who's been shooting constantly for Anurag Basu's Metro, suddenly went missing from Mumbai on Saturday and Sunday.

"I didn't go MISSING," she laughs. "I was in Karachi with Urmila Matondkar. We were there on Sunday for a very exclusive fashion show attended by the who's who of the city. The proceeds were all used for a teachers' fund."

While Urmila wore and modeled Manish Malhotra's creations, Shilpa was decked in Tarun Tahliani's wardrobe.

"Off and on one does walk the ramp for designer-friends. But I've never done it outside India. However I must tell you Karachi felt like home. It's so much like Mumbai. And the people were outstanding in their hospitality. We keep hearing about the hostility between the two countries. But I certainly didn't see any of it during my visit. Everyone in Pakistan was full of warmth."

Though Urmila had visited Pakistan several times, this was Shilpa's first visit. "Not counting a brief evening at Lahore some years ago when Akshay Kumar and I had performed. It was the first performance by Bollywood stars. And now this fashion show was also a first."

Incidentally the Karachi film festival was also on when Shilpa visited. "But I couldn't attend. I heard Bhatt Saab was looking for me. Tanuja Chandra and I traveled back from Karachi together."

Any film together after the flight? "Not right away. But I am dying to work with another female director after Revathy in Phir Milenge."

Salman has been wasted till now: Ravi Chopra

Ravi Chopra is a bundle of nerves and understandably so. His film Baabul released last week.

Keeping to the trend of films with a social message, the B R Chopra camp comes up with Baabul which deals with the subject of widow remarriage. More films on such issues are on the anvil, reveals director Ravi Chopra.

What is Baabul all about?
It is the story of the rehabilitation of a young widow. A young woman loses her husband in an accident. She is given an opportunity to relive her life on her own. Amitabh plays a father who has lost his son (Salman Khan), yet makes every effort to see her happy. She is young and her entire life will get ruined otherwise. He actually goes out, finds a mate for her (John Abraham) and gives her a new life.

You have taken up the issue of widow remarriage in Baabul. Do you think these things are still a problem in India?
It happened with a family friend of ours from Delhi- he married off his widowed daughter-in-law with determination. That really impressed me a lot and my mind was ticking since then about a movie on the subject. But then Baghban, which had been my father's dream project, took off and it was our return to the big-screen after 11 years.

But why dwell on social issues all the time?
I will not change the USP of BR Chopra Films. I have always tried to make family films and television programmes and will continue to do so. We (B R Films) always try to make films with a difference ; our films entertain and have a social message. That's what made my father different from other filmmakers.

Take any of his films: Nikaah (based on the Muslim man's right to divorce his wife by saying talaq thrice), Insaaf Ka Tarazu (which dealt with rape and its aftermath), and every other film we made. In Baghban too, there was a thought: will you help the man who helped you walk your first step take the last steps of his life?

What other messages do you plan to highlight in the future?
We're working on three films that have social messages. The first is why money has become all-important in life instead of the means to an end? We're also doing a costume drama set in British India. We want to highlight that after God, it is your country that is most important.

This story is about a father and his two sons. Amitji will play the father. I'm talking with Salman about playing one of the sons. There is a third film which highlights the fact that in any relationship, the woman must have the right to say no.

The buzz going around is that Salman has a very small role in Baabul?
On the contrary, the film begins with him, and he is there in the last shot and has a major role, length-wise. In a strange way, Baabul may revolve around Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji but is actually the story of Salman's character, as you will realise when you watch the film.

Salman Khan as an actor has been completely underutilised - what we have seen of his talent so far is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg of his talent.

Amitabh seems to have become your favourite.
Yes. Amitabh Bachchan has moved into a different league... He knows exactly what to do with every twitch of his body. He knows what the smallest movement of a muscle will do to a film. And Hemaji has been a complete surprise.

I must admit that at the time of The Burning Train she had everything going for her as a top star but I somehow felt that she did not have great depth in her emotional scenes but with Baghban she homed in straight into the heart.

What about Mahabharat- The Film?
It will take off in 2008 in a planned manner. The six to seven hour film in two parts will be released across two Fridays, in a world first. Hollywood had done this with Lord Of The Rings but the gap was much more. We will shoot the films simultaneously and release the first part only when the complete film is ready.

Sanjay Dutt keen on playing Bachchan's role in Satte Pe Satta remake

That veteran filmmaker Raj N Sippy is going to remake of his old classic hit Satte Pe Satta is known. As was reported first by Businessofcinema.com, Sippy was keen on casting Sanjay Dutt in the Amitabh Bachchan's character from the original film in the remake titled - Seven.

The latest on that front is that after reading Businessofcinema.com's article on Sippy's eagerness to cast Dutt in the remake, the latter sent him an SMS saying that he too was keen on the role.

Sippy had plans to meet Dutt at his Pali Hill residence in Bandra to narrate the character. "I was going to meet Sanjay Dutt on 11 December at his residence but couldn't because of his court case. However, I received an SMS from Sanjay via which he showed interest in the film and asked me to wait till he gets cleared from the case," says Raj N Sippy.

The film will be produced by the Sippys. Unlike Satte Pe Satta, Seven will have five brothers and two sisters instead of seven brothers.

Dutt and Sippy have worked together in Romu N Sippy's Jeeva and Amaanat, Sanjay Roy's Thanedaar, K.K. Talwar's Qurbani Rang Layegi and Salim Akhtar's film, which was later shelved.

Shahrukh Khan 抯 Airtel Call Home calling card disappoints !

Amidst a lot of publicity, the Airtel Call Home calling card for calls from USA to India was launched few weeks back. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was seen in its ads announcing this new service to all the NRI (non resident indians). But within a few weeks, the calling card service has disappointed most of its customers.

Airtel calling card service started off with a relatively cheaper rate of 8 cents per minute for calls from USA to India. And to add to the great rate, Airtel Call Home offered double the time for the first few weeks !! So your signup amount will get doubled and your first recharge amount would be doubled and the extra minutes could be used by Jan 31st. Great !! Much better than Reliance India Call which charges 13 cents per minute.

Airtel being a reputed and reliable brand in India, people expected that the service would be great. Moreover our favorite Shahrukh Khan is the brand ambassador !! But no !! The website is a pain .. the site is extremely SLOW ! When submitting your credit card information, the site uses ajax (internally calling the script) and it takes few minutes for it to display the confirmation message where customers are unsure of even if the called script is from a secure server (https) or not !! To add to this, the website is not at all friendly and we could not even add our phone number for the pinless dial feature.

But well that was the website

Salman Khan-Not just good looks!

Known for his shirtless on-screen appearances, his drop-dead good looks and the various controversies surrounding him, Salman Khan is one of the most popular actors today. He has undoubtedly established himself in his own right in the Hindi film industry and has acted with almost all the leading producers, directors and co-stars in Bollywood. Some of his memorable performances in 2006 have been in films like Jaan-E-Mann, Baabul and his forthcoming releases include Salaam-e-Ishq: A tribute to love, Marigold, London Dreams, Saawariya to name only a few.

Acting career: But films have been nothing new for this Khan; Salman is the son of Salim Khan a well-known scriptwriter. He made his maiden appearance in a film called Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988 where he was seen in a supporting role. Salman soon made it big with ` Maine Pyar Kiya`, a Rajshri Productions venture. The film went on to become a major success and gave a big boost to his career. It also won him a Filmfare Best Debut Award. `Hum Aapke Hain Koun` where he starred opposite Madhuri Dixit was another instant success. Since then he has acted in many successful flicks like "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", "Karan Arjun", "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya..", Sanam Bewafa, Saajan, `Biwi No 1" and umpteen others. Today he is a top Bollywood hero, working with almost all top banners.

Personal life: Born on 27th December 1965, Salman is the eldest of his siblings and has two brothers and two sisters younger to him. His stepmom is Helen, the famous actress of yesteryears. Khan`s love life has also not been a steady one. He is also known to be romantically linked to several Bollywood actresses in the past like Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali and Aishwarya Rai. The grapevine has it that he is currently dating fellow actress and model Katrina Kaif. His relationship with Miss Rai had been an especially turbulent one and grabbed lots of media attention.

Controversies: Salman has a controversial side to him too and has earned a reputation for his brattish behavior. His name has been involved in a black-buck poaching case and hit-and-run accidents. Reports of his alleged underworld connections also keep resurfacing every now and then. But Salman has remained undeterred by his bad-boy image and has overcome these setbacks.

Few people know for a fact that Salman was voted 7th best-looking man in the World and the best looking man in India by People magazine in USA. But Salman Khan`s close friends and well wishers have often revealed that the actor, despite his media image has a large heart and is involved in numerous welfare organisations. He has bailed out his needy friends quite often. He is involved with several NGOs working for the welfare of poor children and the destitute. Many in the film industry have termed him `man with a heart of gold.`

Be it for good or bad reasons, Salman Khan never remains out of the focus. He surely knows how to make his presence felt.
