development and communication. it seems in malaysia its not related in malaysia since the developers (govt and private) dont communicate with people
the problem lies in the mentality of the majority of the people. while the way of thinking of the middle class are decades behind the developed countries, the upper class are pushing the country building physical development to compete with other countries and attract foreign investments. the physical development should be in line with the mental development of the people. thats y in many countries, while less physical development involved, it is still considered as developed countries such as switzerland. they also have excellent per capita income. it is not easy to sustain a development if the mentality is behind the pace of the current development, vice versa. that is why malaysia is dropping rapidly in the corruption and media freedom index.
we always wonder are we on the right track to vision 2020. go out on saturday nights and u'll see. the malays with rempits, the chinese with gambling and ah longs, and the indians with gangsterism. the different race in malaysia makes it hard for the govt to develop the mental of its people. also, the gap between the rich and poor is widening. one has to wonder, who can afford to eat a rm 20 breakfast everyday. many in fact. the zaras, guccis and braun buffels are here to entertain the lifestyle of the rich at the expense of the rest.
we can build the tallest tower, tallest building or fancy airport to attract the investors but can we keep them here?
in order to keep them, we offer tax rebate and low cost labor. this is what i meant with "at the expense of the rest". the low cost labor are forced to work for ridiculously low wage and extra working hours just to keep pace with the rising cost of living. those who give up, they can alway resort to ilegal activities. ever wonder y snatch thieves are so popular now compare to 10 years ago?
this medium and bottom level of the community are desperate. while the value of money doubles almost every 5 years, their incomes are not. but the rich probably got double rich since 5 years ago!
to me, the first step to rectify this problem is to help the lower class people. i'd suggest the government to impose minimum wage regime, at least in the big cities. this is to help everybody to enjoy better lifestyle thus improving the way they think. it is so pathetic that while the senate of the US is debating increment in the minimum wage as to help its people curb inflation, we still have not raise the issue in our parliament. how far are we behind the developed countries? |

re: had had :
Had had is the past perfect form of have when it is used as a
main verb to describe our experiences and actions. We use the
past perfect when we are talking about the past and want to refer
back to an earlier past time. In these examples, note the use
of before, after, already and by the time as a trigger for the
past perfect.
*Note also that the contracted form of had had is 'd had.
She'd had a lot to drink and wasn't capable of walking home by herself.
After he'd had a good night's sleep, he felt much better.
She sacked him before he had had a chance to explain his behaviour.

re: i am amazed - let's look at this example --
i am amazed vs i am amazing
The -ing form expresses the quality of the experience itself:
a circus is amazing, a long journey is tiring, an adventure movie is exciting.
The -ed form is the condition of the experiencer: I am amazed by the circus,
I am tired from the journey, I am excited after seeing the movie.
An easy way to remember:
The thing is -ing, and -ed is me.
hope it helps -

oo it mean that it just merely based on experience to describe whole things, right? if the sentence related to experience of person so used -ed...and if -ing means to describe things yea... |
