Butwhen Diego went to applaud home fans at the final whistle he was met byincessant whistling, backing up a recent fan survey which put him inthe top five most hated players in the Bundesliga.
"They madea good atmosphere and I wanted to thank them," said Diego of hisactions. "Nobody likes to be booed off the pitch," he added of thefans' reaction. "I don't know what it was for or what I've done wrong."
Away Day Target
TheWerder No10 has only just returned to domestic action having served athree-match ban for shoving Frankfurt's Sotos Kyrgiakos to the groundduring yet another away game where he was given rough treatment on andoff the field. Against Bielefeld he was fouled seven times, with eachtumble to the ground being greeted by angry whistles from home fans.

"Diegogets treated differently by the referees to other players," claimedArminia's Daniel Halfar after the game, with team mate Markus Bollmannadding: "as soon as you go anywhere near him he gets a free-kick."
Thisisn't the first time such accusations have been levelled at theBrazilian, with Bayern's Mark Van Bommel branding him 'the king ofdivers' after the 1-1 draw in Munich in February, but Diego says hecan't understand the accusations. "On the pitch my opponents alwaysapologise for their fouls," he explained. "So I don't know why they'resaying such things afterwards."
Bremen team mate MarkusRosenberg also stuck up for the playmaker: "It's just not true to saythat Diego likes a tumble and curries favour with the referees," saidthe Swede. "He doesn't go to ground any earlier than other players."
Bremen's indifferent form has seen them slump to fourth in the table, ahead of fifth placed Schalke on goal difference. |

It will be a caseof familiar faces all around on Wednesday as Switzerland entertainneighbours Germany at the St. Jakob Park in a friendly match ahead ofthis summers Euro 2008 finals.
The Bundesliga will be heavily represented with both managersraiding Germany抯 top division for the majority of their stars. Withjust 74 days to go until the big kick-off, both sets of players will belooking to impress their respective trainers in a bid to secure theirplaces in the final squad.
A Nation Expects
In February of last year Kobi Kuhn took his Swiss side to Germanyfull of confidence for a friendly in D黶seldorf. A 3-1 defeat was theresult which served as a warning as to the difference between the twosides and what improvements needed to be made before the finalstournament.
On Wednesday the two sides meet again with an expectant nationlooking to see that improvement. A positive result against one of thetournament favourites will be a huge boost to the Swiss as the put thefinal touches to their finals preparations.
There will be further friendlies against Slovakia and Liechtenstein,but it is this week抯 test against Germany that will the true barometerof Switzerland抯 chances.
