Reacting sharply and swiftly to a front -page report in a daily which mentions Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor among the highest tax payers in the country, Amitabh Bachchan says, "I'm surprised by the report and I've serious doubts about its authenticity. Because my name isn't mentioned anywhere among the top -most tax payers of the entertainment business. This gives the utterly false impression that I make pots of money and don't pay up enough taxes." As a matter of fact, as the Big B clarifies he tops among the tax payers of the country. "If you look at the figures for the year 2006-2007, you'll see Amitabh Bachchan, that's yours truly, has paid 14.15 crores, Abhishek Bachchan has paid 4.75 crores, from our company AB Corp Ltd where all the earnings are mine, we've paid 1.44 crores. And now that Aishwarya is part of the family approximately 5 crores pf tax money have come from her. This makes it a total of 25.3 crores. And yet they've put Hrithik Roshan as the top most tax payer! Even if you take my tax figures individually I still top." Incontestably the Bachchans are the highest tax- paying family of the country.

ANAK perempuan pasangan pelakon popular Hollywood, Alec Baldwin dan Kim Ba singer, yang buat masa ini tersepit di antara pertelingkahan orang tuanya merayu minta ia berakhir dengan segera.

Demikian kata bapa saudaranya, William Baldwin.

Baru-baru ini, Ireland Bald win, 11 tahun, mendapat liputan meluas pihak media apabila rakaman mesej telefon daripada Alec dibocorkan ke Internet.

Dalam rakaman itu, Alec naik angin dan memanggil anaknya, 'babi biadap yang tidak ada otak', apabila Ireland tidak menurut perintah mahkamah agar meluangkan masa seminggu sekali berbual dengan ayahnya.

Seminggu setelah rakaman itu dibocorkan di Internet dan rancangan televisyen di Amerika, William dikatakan berkata anak saudaranya itu begitu malu dan mahu ia segera berakhir.

'Saya tahu dia (Ireland) mempunyai hubungan yang amat baik dengan ayahnya. Saya tahu dia amat menyayangi ayahnya,' kata William yang juga adik Alec.

Alec pula mengeluarkan ucapan maaf secara terbuka buat kali kedua yang ditujukan kepada puterinya ekoran meninggalkan mesej pesanan yang 'tidak wajar' itu.

Beliau menegaskan ini adalah kali pertama beliau bercakap dengan anaknya sebegitu rupa, lapor laman web Internet Movie Database.

Dalam rancangan televisyen di Amerika Syarikat, The View, Alec, 46 tahun, dengan linangan air mata berkata: 'Sebenarnya, saya tidak pernah melakukan perkara ini sepanjang hayat saya.

'Yang pasti memanggil anak sendiri dengan perkataan babi atau apa jua adalah tindakan yang tidak wajar dan saya meminta maaf kepada anak perempuan saya itu.

'Tiada salahnya untuk berasa marah atau berang dengan situasi. Cuma salahnya, ramai di antara kita di dunia ini menyalahkan mereka yang tidak bersalah.'

Bagaimanapun, bekas isterinya, Kim, pula mendakwa mesej daripada Alec yang seumpama itu bukan sesuatu yang asing. Tetapi kali ini beliau terpaksa melindungi Ireland daripada pihak media.

Ekoran pendedahan mesej itu juga Kim berkata beliau terpaksa mendapatkan khidmat pengawal keselamatan untuk memastikan keamanan Ireland.

Di samping itu, jurucakap Kim turut menafikan dakwaan sesetengah laporan yang menuduhnya mendedahkan rakaman mesej bekas suaminya itu bagi mencemar nama baiknya.

'Kim mendapatkan khidmat pengawal keselamatan menyusuli reaksi dan tumpuan pihak media ke atas Ireland agar beliau dapat menjalankan kegiatan hariannya tanpa sebarang gangguan,' katanya.

Dalam masa yang sama, Kim mahu Alec menghentikan 'tindakan agresif yang berterusan seandainya beliau ingin berkongsi hak menjaga anak itu'.

Newly wed couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are honeymooning apparently in Tahiti after passing through New Zealand over the weekend.

On arrival at Auckland, Ash and Abhishek reportedly disembarked using a separate entrance from other business class passengers for their onward journey to Tahiti. They did not exit the Auckland airport.Reports add that Ash and Abhishek were escorted out of a Singapore Airlines flight through a separate entrance, which separated them from the other business class passengers, on their arrival in Auckland. Later they headed towards Tahiti.

Viveik's Double Bill confirmed

It is happening for sure now. After a hiatus, Viveik Oberoi would be seeing not one but two of his films releasing soon. This is not all as the two would literally be coming on back to back weeks. The good part though for Viveik is the fact that his films, SHOOT OUT AT LOKAHNDWALA and FOOL F FINAL, belong to diverse genres and hence won't really be eating into each other's business. While SHOOT OUT AT LOKAHNDWALA is a realistic action thriller, FOOL N FINAL is a pure fantasy/comedy/action show that is characteristic of a Firoz Nadiadwala film. In each of the films, Viveik has an interesting character to portray. While in SHOOT OUT AT LOKAHNDWALA he plays a gangster by the name of Maya Dolas who is the master mind behind all the extortions in the city of Mumbai, in FOOL N FINAL he works along with Sunny Deol in a chase behind multi-crore worth diamonds. Manoj Bajpai's SWAMI - Another remarkable performance after 1971?

1971 may have released at theaters and gone but it is busy making quite an impact on DVD circuits. So much so that after watching the film, one forgets that one of the lead protagonists, Manoj Bajpai, was ever recognized mainly as Bhiku Mhatre, the character which immortalized him forever. As a Prisoner of War, he came up with a remarkably restrained act in 1971 with his performance getting noticed by audience both within and outside the industry. Natural to the core with just the right drama in place, there wasn't any jingoism in this film which only helped the characters stay away from being conventionally cardboard as has been the case of number of films belonging to this genre. Now Manoj Bajpai has yet another film coming up for release that is titled SWAMI. A film that was made very recently and completed in a jiffy, it stars Bajpai along with Juhi Chawla, an unlikely combination indeed. With both Manoj Bajpai and Juhi Chawla being overtly selective when it comes to signing films, one has high expectations of yet another remarkable performance by the two as the come together on screen. Since the script is of paramount importance fr both the actors at this stage of the career with banner and rest of the star cast coming into picture later, one tends to believe that there would be something highly exciting about SWAMI that would have made the two sign it on in spite of most of the crew being new to the job. Said to be social film set in a small town/village, it is being projected as a sensitive film which would be quite close to the life with simplicity being the key. Surprisingly, the director at the helm is none other than Ganesh Acharya, the man who has made many actors dance to his 'jhatka-matka' tunes over the years, most famously being Govinda.

  Though Ta Ra Rum Pum has not impressed audiences greatly Saif and Rani sizzled as onscreen lovers and totally immersed themselves into their roles, reports the Mirror. As reported earlier, Rani hassled her trainer Satya endlessly till she got into shape with slim thighs and a flat tummy. Kajol is in the middle of dinner with her four-year-old daughter Nysa and from the sound of it, she's really having a hard time getting her to sit in one place.

As she talks to us over the phone, her conversation is punctuated with "No Nysa!" and "On the table Nysa, now!" Kajol's daughter appears to be quite a handful! But the actress takes it all in her stride. In fact, she's full of praise for motherhood.

"It's such a fantastic experience. She's my biggest teacher," she says. And what has Nysa taught her? "To be patient and how to appreciate my mother," Kajol says with a laugh.

The actor is packing her bags to join husband Ajay Devgan who will be directing her in his directorial debut U, Me Aur Hum.

"We're taking off for a cruise where we will be shooting for a few days and then return to Mumbai," she says. Kajol isn't willing to divulge too many details about the film except that it's going to be a romantic film.

And since the world knows Ajay as only an actor, how does she think her husband will be as a director?

"He's a very demanding actor, so I'm sure he'll be a very demanding director as well. He knows his job well, so that's half the work done," she says confidently.

And what if they have creative differences, will he listen to her point of view? "Of course, he's not a modern day Hitler!" she retorts.

It's a much disputed and done to death cliche that off-screen couples don't make good onscreen jodis and their films like Hulchul, Dil Kya Kare and Raju Chacha were proof enough. But Kajol isn't concerned about such issues.

"It all depends on the movie. Look at Pyar To Hona Hi Tha, that worked so well," she points out. And she isn't worried about bringing family issues to work either.

"We worked very well during Dil Kya Kare after marriage; there were no such problems at all," she says. Apart from U, Me Aur Hum, Kajol has Rajkumar Santoshi's Ramayan on hand, which she says has been delayed till next year.

And for her fans who are missing her on screen, there's bad news. Kajol isn't really keen on signing on more movies.

"I don't think I can do anything beyond this. If I want to do something well, and I do want to, then this is all I can handle. I guess a little bit is better than nothing," she says, rushing back to attend to Nysa.
