Kengkawan, I got job offer from Oil and Gas Company - tapi is now the right time to move out to this industry? Dengan kejatuhan harga minyak dunia and kemelesetan ekonomi ni...yes, the offer is good tapi - karang dia buat retrenchment ke karang cammana.. mestilah LIFO system..Company sekarang buat counter offer nak bayar sebijik..dengan apa yang akan dapat nanti. So minta opinion yek sebab you all banyak experience kan..Please help ok.

Kalau tak kisah nak tanya sikit, what kind of O&G company are going to? Client? Service? Maintenance? Myself is in O&G service company, truth to be told memang affected jugak la dengan harga minyak yang jatuh. They were expecting for it to go as low as 25USD per barrel. Another 1998? Maybe, but i hope not.

And nanti kerja kat Malaysia jugak ke or kat luar?

Ok jer. Kejatuhan harga minyak ni temperory jer.
Cuma buat masa ni petrochemical tidak memberangsangkan sangat. Banyak petrochemical plant kat pantai timur nak shutdown operasi buat waktu ini. Grab ajer kerja tu. Good prospect

Boleh je, di mana ada kemahuan, di situ ada jalan. Cam aku pompuan, dah 3 tahun keje (bukan offshore, onshore di padang pasir), ok je. As long kau tahan le, pasal keje tahap anjing le, tapi pulang modal le.

Kerja dia nak ikutkan tak le susah mana, aku favorite satu part je, keje 6 minggu, balik Malaysia 3 minggu, yiihaa!

hehehe.. nak keje oil and gas especially upstream, hati kene kering, tak bleh ade second thought, tak bleh ade takut2. kalau takut2, keje je opis. bleh layan awek. oil and gas especially upstream kene resourceful. kalau kene retrench, diorg tak takut sbb post utk third party/agency mmg byk. kalau tak de job kat mesia, byk job kat tmpt lain. my advice, kalau anda rase takut kene retrench sbb harga minyak nak runtuh, then it shows how much passion left in you to go for this industry.. piece of advice from someone wiser than me :

" you got to find your passion. it does not matter how much money you make or how big your bank account is, but its the passion that drive human to do what ever thing he loves to do.."

so, go find you passion first. if your motivation to join oil and gas is the money, then sadly i have to say, maybe you are in the wrong reason to be in oil and gas. sbbnye, ade berlambak org yg dah keje 20 thn start dari zero experience smpi la 20 tahun keje sbg contract je, tak de permanent, tak de pleasure of benefit. but still they are the real oil and gas worker..hehhe..aku pon permanent. jadik aku bukan real oil and gas worker la eventhough keje field oil and gas..

"what kind of O&G company are going to" - Yang petrol stesen dia ada kat mana-mana ni..so aku tak pastilah kategori ape tu client ke, service ke etc
Aku dapat keja opis - aku ni commercial background...tu yang complicated tu.
