WANITA SAMAN PIHAK PENJARA KERANA DIARAH BUKA JILBAB
- AP. |

- Agensi berita.

Tourists and bouncers clash over dress code at Zouk
Tourist and female bouncer get more than 10 stitches each
A POST-WEDDING celebration ended up as 'the worst day of our lives' for a group of tourists from Australia and New Zealand.
By Eri Akbar
29 May 2005
A POST-WEDDING celebration ended up as 'the worst day of our lives' for a group of tourists from Australia and New Zealand.
Mechanical engineer Rene Roger Doel and his wife, Nicholle, a travel agency manager, together with a friend, got into a bloody fight with bouncers at Zouk nightclub on Monday morning.
The tourists claimed that 10 to 12 bouncers pounced on them.
This was disputed by Zouk's spokesman and marketing manager Tracy Phillips.
The brawl left both sides nursing serious bruises and cuts, some of which needed stitches.
The Doels, who were on their first visit to Singapore, had adjourned to the nightclub after attending their friend's wedding at Jurong Bird Park.
Mrs Doel said the fight started when she tried to help her friend, Mr Michael McDonnell, inside Zouk.
She said that she saw three to four bouncers pushing Mr McDonnell towards the exit.
Mrs Doel, 31, said: 'I told them (the bouncers) that he's (Mr McDonnell) with my group and I'll take him out.
'I was speaking in my normal tone of voice and was just offering assistance.'
Mrs Deol alleged that the bouncers then pushed her down a three-step staircase.
Her husband then struggled past the bouncers - five or six more had joined in by then - to get to her.
That was when Mr Doel said he got bashed up by the bouncers.
Mr Doel, 30, a New Zealander, said: 'All I was trying to do was protect my wife. But they wrestled me to the ground and punched and kicked me in the head and the ribs.
'It was the worst day of our lives.'
BACK IN BRISBANE
The couple spoke to The New Paper from their home in Brisbane. They left Singapore on Tuesday.
Medical reports showed that Mr Doel needed 12 stitches for the cuts on his forehead and chin.
His wife suffered bruises on her face and on her back from the fall and from trying to shield her husband.
Mrs Doel said: 'I couldn't come to terms with being kicked by men. I started crying.'
The Doels said the bouncers then stopped their beatings and allowed them to leave the club.
Their friend, Mr Bruno Grandelis, alleged that he was also punched and kicked and suffered from cuts and bruises as a result.
The three said they helped each other get up on their feet and sat outside the club.
But Zouk, which has been voted Nightspot Of The Year several times, claimed that the fight was started by the tourists.
The bouncers had asked Mr McDonnell to leave after the latter took off his shirt while dancing, which is against the dress code.
Zouk's spokesperson said Mr McDonnell refused and even 'challenged' the bouncers by showing his fist.
In a separate interview, Mr McDonnell, 23, a lawyer, claimed he couldn't recall if such an incident took place.
He added that he left without knowing what happened to his friends.
Ms Phillips, 27, alleged that Mr Doel came and punched the bouncers and attacked a female bouncer, Vickie Lee, 40.
Ms Lee, who needed 14 stitches on her head, told The New Paper: 'I saw his hand punching my head. Then I saw blood dripping on my face.'
Another three bouncers were badly bruised, said Ms Phillips.
Neither the bouncers nor the tourists saw any weapons being used.
Ms Phillips added that Zouk's bouncers did not push Mrs Doel down the stairs.
Instead, Mrs Doel and one of the male bouncers had fallen during a scuffle.
She allegedly shouted and tried to strangle him.
By then, more bouncers had arrived at the scene, Zouk said.
They pinned Mr Doel to the floor but released him once he stopped struggling.
KICKING AND PUNCHING
Ms Phillips said: 'It all happened so fast. To defend themselves (referring to the bouncers), there might be some kicking and punching.
She added: 'But our first instinct has always been to restrain (patrons) and not to be violent (towards them).'
Zouk alleged that the Doels and a group of 10 to 15 of their friends had been misbehaving throughout the night.
Ms Phillips said it received complaints from patrons that the tourists had stolen drinks and even fought among themselves in the toilet.
But the Doels claimed they were in control that night, despite having drunk about eight glasses of vodka cocktails each.
DRINKS AT WEDDING
The couple had also been drinking at the wedding but couldn't remember how many.
The police and ambulance arrived shortly after the incident.
The Doels, Mr Grandelis and Ms Lee were taken away in separate ambulances to Singapore General Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
After that, the Doels returned to the Riverview Apartments room they were staying and took the pictures.
They made a police report later that day.
The police confirmed the report and is still investigating.
Mr Doel, who claimed that he plans to take legal action, said: 'Singapore has such a safe reputation. I never thought this would happen.'
Kenapa firasat ku mengatakan diorang ni kenkawan suami Haney Hadad eh...:hmm: |

Jadi aku harap bouncer2 ni tak dihukum , just because yang komplen Mat Salleh, Spore ni kadang2 ngan Mat Salleh, dorang sujud taksub ;);) |

I think I know whose wedding this was - it was featured in TNP a few days ago - it was one of Suria's ex-presenters (not sure if its Hani Hadad) - she married an ex-schoolmate from Brisbane, a Japanese/ang mo guy. |
