Priyanka Chopra has not been replaced by Sushmita Sen in 'Don' sequel

We told you last month that former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has replaced former Miss World Priyanka Chopra in the sequel of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don .

But now reports are that they were just baseless rumours and Priyanka indeed is starring in the sequel of the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don (1978) .

Farhan Akhtar is making the sequel with SRK and Priyanka in the lead.

This will be the first time in Bollywood history that a sequel to a remake is being made.

The screenplay is being written and other actors are being considered for pivotal roles, reports say.

Reports further add that this time on, the production will have to be much more spectacular and embellished with superb effects.

Akhtar has the difficult task of overtaking benchmarks already set by Dhoom 2 and Krrish .

UTV Signs Mega Three-film Deal with Priyanka Chopra

Former Miss World and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has signed a landmark mega three-film deal with UTV Motion Pictures, one of the largest production houses in India. With the deal, Priyanka has become the first actress in Bollywood to do so. "I am very excited about my association with UTV. This association presents an amazing opportunity for me to work in a challenging, creative environment with some of the best minds in the industry. I am looking forward to creating celluloid magic together," said Priyanka in a press release Friday. The deal, which will span over four years, allows Priyanka to participate in the creative areas of the films. Priyanka will also be involved in brainstorming process of the films including the short-listing of scripts and genres. Ram Mirchandani, Senior Vice-president (Creative and Projects), UTV Motion Pictures, is full of praise for the actress who saw a meteoric rise in filmdom in a short span of time. He said: "We are very proud to be associated with Priyanka. Her achievements, in a relatively short span of time, are remarkable. She is undoubtedly the reigning star on celluloid today and is recognised as one of the most 'bankable' stars that we have." "Her ability to straddle a variety of roles is reflective of her immense talent. We are very excited about this partnership and look forward to our long-term relationship with Priyanka," Mirchandani added. The deal surely puts Priyanka, who has two recent big hits - Krrish and Don in her kitty, on the highest pedestal. Her forthcoming ventures are Drona and Love Story 2050.

Vidya Balan may replace Aishwarya Rai in 'Pa'

Vidya Balan may replace the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai in Pa that also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan .

'Pa' is to be directed by ad filmmaker R Balakrishnan whose maiden feature film Cheeni Kum is being appreciated all over.

Although Balki (as Balakrishnan is often referred) had thought of casting Ash in the film earlier, news has come in that Vidya may step in the project instead of the Bachchan daughter-in-law in the role opposite Abhishek.

'Pa' will not only be produced by Sunil Manchanda, who produced 'Cheeni Kum', but also have musical notes from Illayaraja , who is being appreciated for his work in 'Cheeni Kum'.

'Pa' is a very light comedy film portraying the relationship between a father and son.

Balki wrote the movie抯 script with both Bachchan and Abhishek in mind. And when he narrated the story idea to the father-son duo, they immediately agreed to do the movie.

'Pa' will also have Paresh Rawal in an important role and is ready to go on the floors in due time.

Preity Zinta was not slotted to become one of the top heroines in the film world. Her entry into films came quite by accident when she accompanied a friend to an audition and the director insisted she become an actress after watching her read for the part. Saif Ali Khan opts out of film starring Abhishek and Aishwarya .

Reflecting the strange arithmetic of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan, who would normally give anything to work in a prestigious Karan Johar production, has decided to opt out of the next Kjo film to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Sources from Saif's circle have revealed that apart from date problems, which the star cited, he 'feels extremely wary of Abhishek and Aishwarya' who are the star pair of the film. "He is not too excited about his co-stars," continue the sources, "He could have adjusted the dates but he let the assignment pass." Earlier, reports Mumbai Mirror, Saif had been very happy to accept this role to work with Abhi-Ash but now he has excused himself saying that he is busy with Kunal Kohli's next film for Yashraj Productions! Other sources close to Saif say that 'he is not comfortable with Aishwarya for unknown reasons.' Saif has earlier worked with Kjo in his successful film Kal Ho Na Ho and performed fabulously! Bollywood insiders are not aware of any serious reasons for Saif's discomfort with Ash but it is known that he has kept a 'safe distance' from all Bachchans though he has shared screen space with Abhishek minimally in Salaam Namaste and LOC Kargil earlier. Karan Johar, of course, is a bit disappointed at the last minute shuffle in his cast, but Mumbai Mirror assures that there is no rift between KJo and Saif as they are already working on his next film. Karan Johar, it is reported, will produce four films this year and he is certainly going to work with Saif in his next one. This will be formalized within a month. Earlier, in another news report, Saif was questioned whether he minded not being invited to the Abhi-Ash wedding. His reply was, "I did not invite Abhishek for my wedding. So if he does not invite me to his that is not surprising. I am not personally close to the Bachchans so I was not expecting to be invited anyway!"

BOLLYWOOD PRINCESS Kareena Kapoor has no qualms taking a sabbatical from long drawn main roles and doing cameos and item numbers. Last seen in a critically acclaimed role in Omkara, Kareena will be spotted next in a brand new TV commercial for Citizen watches with none other than Indian cricket team captain Rahul Dravid. Though Kareena and Rahul have been endorsing the brand for more than a year now, this is the first time they will come together for a commercial.
For both Kareena and Rahul, the commercial will be a way of staying in the public eye. Rahul is reeling from the Indian cricket team's disastrous performance at the World Cup and hopes to gain some of his popularity with the commercial. On her part, Kareena signed on for Mani Ratnam's Lajjo, but is biding her time till the film goes on floor. Her much anticipated project Milenge Milenge, the fourth film with real-life sweetheart Shahid Kapoor, is also in a limbo. "I am waiting as eagerly as everyone else is to find out what is happening to the movie. I have no clue to be honest. The director will contact me as soon as things are ready," says Shahid about the film. Not that Shahid has much to worry about. He has a string of releases ready. But for girlfriend Kareena, the commercial is a way of ensuring she isn't forgotten before her films release. Not a bad way to stay in the limelight at all.

ERRA BOHONG?
Disebabkan terlalu marah, Hans Isaac dilapor bertumbuk dengan Engku Emran

KONTROVERSI melibatkan pelakon dan penyanyi popular, Erra Fazira dan Hans Issac, menjadi kian hangat apabila Hans baru-baru ini mendakwa Erra berbohong.

Hans dalam laporan akhbar Harian Metro mendakwa hubungan cintanya dengan Erra sebenarnya sudah terjalin sejak lebih setahun lalu dan bukan tiga bulan seperti yang Erra dakwa.

'Tetapi tiada siapa yang tahu kerana Erra minta saya merahsiakannya dan beliau beritahu saya jangan bimbang kerana beliau tahu macam mana hendak mengendalikan media,' luah Hans.

Hubungan antara pasangan itu terbongkar apabila Hans dilaporkan berkunjung ke kediaman Erra tatkala Ketua Pegawai Operasi Suria FM, Engku Emran Engku Zainal, 32 tahun, turut berada di sana.

Ekoran tidak dapat mengawal kemarahannya, maka terjadilah babak tumbuk-menumbuk melibatkan Hans dan Engku Emran, lapor beberapa akhbar dari seberang.

Kejadian itu mendedahkan apa yang selama ini menjadi teka-teki iaitu pemberian hadiah jam mewah Rolex berharga RM10,000 ($4,400) daripada Hans kepada Erra sempena hari lahir Erra.

Ia sekali gus turut mengesahkan wujudnya hubungan istimewa antara mereka.

Bagaimanapun, Erra mendakwa antara dirinya dengan Hans tiada kesesuaian. Ia menjadi titik tolak dirinya meneruskan pencarian.

'Maklumlah, usia saya semakin meningkat dan wajah lelaki kacak bukan lagi ukuran bagi saya. Kalau boleh, saya ingin mencari calon suami yang boleh membimbing saya. Begitu juga ibu yang ingin saya berkahwin dengan orang kita sendiri.

'Bagi saya, untuk mencari kese rasian dalam sesuatu hubungan memerlukan sedikit masa. Justeru, saya terkilan apabila saya cuba mendekati seseorang, saya jadi bu ruan seolah-olah sudah melakukan kesalahan dan dosa besar pula,' luah Erra dalam Harian Metro.

Menyentuh hubungannya dengan Hans, Erra berkata beliau mula berkawan dengan pelakon kacak itu ketika sama-sama berlakon dalam filem Gemilang pada 1996.

Hubungan istimewa terjalin antara mereka pada penghujung 2006.

'Kami berkawan sudah lama dan makin mesra sejak penghujung tahun lalu. Saya berusaha untuk lebih mengenalinya kerana nampak seperti ada potensi.

'Ketika itu saya cuba mencari keserasian tetapi selepas dua bulan, saya tidak melihat keserasian kami sebagai kekasih, cuma sekadar kawan.

'Lalu saya perlahankan rentak awal tahun ini dengan menjarakkan hubungan saya dengan beliau. Hans sedar hakikat itu tetapi sudah tentu sebagai manusia, beliau tidak putus asa.

'Bagaimanapun mungkin silap saya, saya tidak tamatkan betul-betul sebab saya takut hatinya terluka. Saya mahu tamatkan hubungan mesra itu tetapi bukan sebagai kawan!,' kata Erra dalam Metro Ahad.

Sejak beliau berasa tidak adanya kesesuaian dengan Hans, maka Erra berkata beliau mengambil keputusan membuka pintu hatinya kepada orang lain.

Pada masa itulah beliau bertemu Engku Emran.

'Bagi saya, dengan siapa saya nak kawan dan kenal, saya tak perlulah beritahu kepada seluruh dunia. Saya memang cuba untuk kenal hati budinya dan tengok sama ada kami ada keserasian...,' ujarnya.

Hans berkata pada malam kejadian di rumah Erra, Ratu Cantik Malaysia berusia 33 tahun itu khabarnya mengakui Engku Emran adalah pilihan ibunya.

'Memang beliau yang cakap pada saya untuk menjadikan Emran suaminya. Tetapi kini beliau nafikan mereka akan berkahwin. Mana satu yang betul?,' dakwa Hans.

Siapakah pula Engku Emran?

Menurut sumber, jejaka berusia 32 tahun itu berasal dari Terengganu dan ada hubungan keluarga dengan penerbit filem, Habsah Hassan.

Lulusan perakauan dari United Kingdom itu berkata:

'Kami (beliau dan Erra) dalam proses mengenali satu sama lain.

'Kami menghormati satu sama lain tetapi kami belum lagi terfikir untuk berkahwin. Kami juga belum kenal ahli keluarga masing-masing.'
