One of the gracious old colonial homes in Singapore is derelict and in danger of imminent collapse.

tetiba teringat pasal hotel ni yang nak kena demolish.. giving way to DOWNTOWN MRT line....
Built in 1953, the New 7th Storey Hotel is landmark of a bygone era.
In fact, this building has resided in the same spot for the last 47 years.
New 7th Storey Hotel is not what its name suggests.
It actually has nine storey with 38 rooms to cater to the budget conscious traveller.
The hotel also offers travellers a quaint side of Singapore with its spiral staircase and a lift that can still be operated manually.
A photograph taken during the opening of the hotel,
the founder Mr Wee is on the first row, sixth from the right |
In the 70's, the pub in the hotel was
one of the hottest nightspots in town |
A rare sight in Singapore, a manually operated lift |
The spiral staircase is 7th Storey hotel's legacy |
