Jenis ikan louhan saat ini sangat beraneka ragam. Amphilophus trimaculatus adalah nama latin ikan louhan, sedangkan dalam bahasa Inggris dikenal dengan Flowerhorn. Sampai saat ini ikan louhan merupakan salah satu primadona ikan hias air tawar, khususnya yang di pelihara dalam aquarium. Ciri khas ikan ini memiliki benjolan atau jenong pada kepalanya, biasa di sebut ‘benjol kelam’ serta warna sisik mereka yang warna-warni memancar cerah sempat membuat ikan louhan sangat terkenal dan menjadi primadona di kalangan pecinta ikan hias. Habitat asli ikan louhan adalah Taiwan dan Malaysia, tetapi saat ini ikan louhan sudah menyebar ke seluruh penjuru dunia. Puncak ketenaran ikan louhan di Indonesia terjadi sekitar tahun 2002-2004. Saking populernya, saat itu harga ikan louhan bisa mencapai puluhan bahkan ratusan juta perekor.

FLOWERHORN Cichlids Super Red Dragon @ air tawar/aquarium 
Flowerhorns are the result of hybridising several American Cichlids plus subsequent selective breeding which results in an amazing variety of colour forms. These make great display fish, but can have quite an aggressive nature. Most foods accepted, and not fussy about water conditions. Best kept in a large aquarium, ensure tankmates are of similar or larger size, and of robust nature. Maximum size 25-30cm More than 225 species, with estimates of 300 species, of cichlids are found throughout South America. An estimated 75% of these inhabit the mighty Amazon River Basin. Cichlids are also found in Central America, where they are well-known for their pugnacious behavior and their stunning colors. Most of these cichlid are large, thus requiring large tanks. These fish inhabit most types of water ways throughout Central America including lakes, streams, rivers, even underground water sources.
Their colorful appearance, the many different species available, their behavior and their breeding are just some of the reasons the Cichlids are one of the most popular aquarium fish.
Due to their aggressive behavior, the tank for cichlids should be as large as possible, with its length being more critical than its height; meaning the longer the better.
In the Cichlid tank there must be places of refuge. These can be rock caves, large pieces of driftwood or even inverted flowerpots. Most large species of Cichlids will dig up the substrate material, and occasionally will remove plants from the substrate. The Angelfish, Discus and the dwarf species Apistogramma all prefer a densely planted tank.
The water temperature should be in the range of 24-28 degrees celsius, slightly higher for the Discus. The diet should consist of live and frozen food of all kinds as well a large flake staple food. Large specimens can be feed Earthworms, garden Crickets and kitchen leftovers.

Flowerhorn cichlids are ornamental aquarium fish noted for their vivid colors and the distinctively shaped heads for which they are named. Their head protuberance, or kok, is formally termed a nuchal hump. Like blood parrot cichlids, they are man-made hybrids that exist in the wild only because of their release. First developed in Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan, they became very popular with Asian fish hobbyists. They are also kept by hobbyists in the US and Europe. Numerous cast-off flowerhorns have been released to the wild, especially in Singapore and Malaysia, where they have become an invasive pest animal. Their importation is banned in Australia.
Zhen ZhuThis variety originated slightly after the Kamfa, derived from the luohan. It has a rounded tail, large mouth, red protruding eyes, and a prominent head flower. Zhen Zhu means 'pearl flowerhorn'. This variety's strongest characteristic is pearling. Breeders often cross other types with Zhen Zhus because they breed easily and can create better pearling (flowerline) for the next generation. Weak tails can also carry over, however.[1]

Mud Crab
Habitat: sheltered waters such as estuaries and mangrove areas.
Many live in burrows where the land is exposed at low tide. However, most adults live in shallow areas below the low tide mark, where they bury themselves in the mud during the day. |
