Russia is preparing to retaliate after it says Ukraine hit it with US-made ATACMS long-range missiles twice in the past three days.
Moscow has said both attacks targeted air defense positions in the Kursk region and claimed that in both cases one or two missiles hit their targets, while most were shot down, The Guardian reports.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the first attack took place on November 23, and two of the five missiles fired at a Russian S-400 air defense system hit the target, damaging its radar system.
In the second attack, on November 25, eight missiles were directed at the Kursk-Vostochny airport, which also has a military air base. A missile hit the target, injuring two soldiers, the ministry said in a statement.
"The ministry is in control of the situation and retaliatory measures are being prepared," the ministry said in a statement.
