Villa will cost Chelsea £100m

CHELSEA have been told they will have to pay £100million for David Villa.

As SunSport revealed this morning, the Blues are weighing up a move for the Valencia striker in the January transfer window.

The Spanish ace is one of Europe's top forwards and Chelsea face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature.

But Valencia president Juan Soler has warned clubs off his prized asset.

He said: "We have no intention of selling him. But should any club be interested, they could sit down and negotiate his buy-out clause, which is currently worth 150million euros.

"Officially we have not received any interest or an offer from Chelsea for Villa.

"I met Amedeo Carboni, Valencia's sporting director, this morning and he didn't mention anything regarding any possible interest from Chelsea for our striker."

Villa scored 25 goals in La Liga last season and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to watch him on 10 different occasions.

The 24-year-old, who has struck five goals in 12 league appearances this campaign, is under contract at the Mestalla until June 2013.

Soler added: "Villa is a crucial player for us now and in the future."

Chelsea's sporting director Frank Arnesen is currently in Valencia with the Premiership champions' youth team, who play a friendly against their Spanish counterparts on Wednesday.
