Tavano move imminent

Valencia are set to offload out-of-favour striker Francesco Tavano, with "at least five Spanish clubs" interested sealing his signature according to the club's sporting director.

The Italian marksman has failed to acclimatise to life in La Liga since his arrival in the summer from Empoli and has hardly been used by coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

A move back to Serie A had been mooted for the player, particularly with Milan desperate to reinforce their strike force, but now a loan deal somewhere in Spain seems the more likely option.

"There are at least five Spanish clubs that are interested in Tavano's services," said Amedeo Carboni.

"Milan? I don't want to specify any names out of respect," Carboni continued. "In January we will evaluate the offers that might be important for Valencia, who own the player, as well as for those who are after him."

Despite the 27-year-old's failure to find the back of the net in Valenica colours, it is thought a number of top European clubs would like to have him on board, with Torino, Napoli, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham all reportedly keen on him.

Valencia chief eyes swap deal for Inter Milan star Adriano
tribalfooball.com - December 07, 2006

Valencia sports director Amadeo Carboni is sensationally eyeing a deal for Inter Milan striker Adriano.
Carboni is pushing for a loan swap involving Ciccio Tavano for the Brazilian and has been speaking with close friend and Inter director Marco Branca about the deal.

Branca won't consider the proposal, despite Adriano's problems at Inter. Also representing a stumbling block is the Brazilian's £2.5 million wages, which Inter would demand Valencia pay in full.

panas tavano skrg ni. nmpk gaya mcm balik serie a je dlm bln dpn. either kena jual or loan dulu. even ade news psl valencia nk swap dia dgn chivu

La Liga weekend preview: showdown in Seville

Real Madrid travel south on Saturday to face Sevilla in a top-of-the-table clash, while Barcelona host Real Sociedad keen to keep their place at the top of the league and Valencia play Deportivo.

Madrid, who are point behind Barcelona, have an injury doubt over Francisco Pavon for the big match in the Sanchez Pizjuan, while Cicinho is a long-term casualty and Guti is suspended.

Ronaldo will look for a start and to continue his excellent form after scoring last week against Athletic and bagging a brace against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League in midweek.

Sevilla, a further point back, may be missing Fernando Sales and will definitely be without Enzo Maresca and Jesus Navas thanks to knee injuries.

Barca centre half Rafael Marquez is struggling with an ankle knock, while Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o are injured until well after Christmas. Igor Jauregui is out indefinitely with a stomach problem for Real and Fabio Felicio may also sit out the Saturday match in the Camp Nou.

Valencia are still reeling from their long list of injuries and have hired a psychologist to help their players deal with the casualty list ahead of their meeting with Deportivo, the headlining clash on Sunday.:jeling:

Jose Luis Mora, Fernando Morientes and Marco Regueiro are all doubtful, while Edu, Emiliano Moretti, Jaime Gavilan, David Albelda, Carlos Marchena and Asier del Horno are out for some time to come.
:geram:

Depor must still cope without Jorge Andrade, though the defender will return to action soon after several months on the sidelines. Also likely to be out are striker Rodolfo Bodipo and playmaker Juan Carlos Valeron.

Atletico play at home to Espanyol with a cloud hanging over the participation of Pablo Ibanez. Martin Petrov and Maxi Rodriguez are to miss the majority of the season with knee injuries. Espanyol striker Luis Garcia also has a knee problem that will keep him out till Christmas.

Athletic Club welcome Recre to the San Mames minus only one player, Tiko, who has an ankle knock. The visitors have two men missing, Fernandez Serrano Poli and Antonio Sanchez de la Calle.

Getafe duo Ruben Pulido and Cosmin Contra are suspended for the visit of Betis to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Veljko Paunovic and Juan Albin are injured for the Madrid satellite town.

There are no doubts for Betis, only long-term absentees Antonio Doblas and David Odonkor.

Nastic are missing Oscar Lopez and Levante Ian Harte for their match in Tarragona.

Celta have a host of doubts for the match with Villarreal, who in turn have no new injury concerns. In other matches Osasuna host Mallorca and Racing welcome Zaragoza to Santander.

Valencia back to their best

Valencia regained some of the swagger of last season in beating Deportivo 4-0 at the Mestalla, thanks to goals from grieving Miguel Angulo and Vicente, plus two from David Villa, including a penalty.

The opener arrived after only 11 minutes, a flowing move thoroughly deserving of a goal. David Villa played a great ball down the left for Vicente, who centred a few yards from the by-line.

Angulo was there to finish under the body of Dudu Aouate.

More controversially, Villa won the penalty himself when Juanma came flying over to tackle and seemed to catch the little man.

Villa rounded Aouate in the second half to score the third and Vicente finished in injury time to wrap up the victory.

The game had begun on a sombre note, with a moment of reflection for the mother of Angulo, recently passed. As ever it was impeccably observed by the crowd, to the sound of violins.

Deportivo had a few shots from distance in the opening minutes, perhaps mindful that Valencia goalkeeper Santiago Canizares had received treatment on his foot prior to the match.

Riki had the best of the efforts, clipping a ball back over his head and volleying just wide of the near post.

Shortly after, the goal came for Los Che and Depor did not look like getting back into the match from there on in.

Two minutes later Juanma, filling in at centre half, received his first yellow card for a rash challenge on Vicente.

While the home team controlled the match, things were tight at both ends and chances hard to come by.

The wily David Silva poked a ball sideways for Villa to strike from 18 yards, the ball flashing wide, before he won the penalty.

It was a rash challenge from Juanma, who seemed determined to get under his opponents, but Villa made the most of it. The defender squared up to the little man as the red card flashed in his direction, furious at being undone by what he perceived as cheating.

Fabricio Coloccini had a pot shot before the close of the half, tipped over by Canizares as it arced towards the top corner.

In the second period Valencia came out with the purpose of making Depor run, and that strategy worked for them. With every passing moment their opponents seemed a little more tired.

When winger Joaquin came on for Angulo, things moved up a gear. The former Betis star enjoyed plenty of attacking runs and created opportunities for his team-mates.

Before that, however, he himself tried a volley from outside the box which was almost diverted into the net. Only the presence of Sergio Gonzalez on the line stopped a third goal.

Silva caused many problems with his impish left foot, but it was Villa again who notched next, on the end of a delightful Ruben Baraja through ball to leave Aouate stranded.

He departed to rapturous applause soon after for Francesco Tavano and the Italian almost scored when Joaquin centred for him.

Arriving at the near post, Aouate did brilliantly to block the shot.

Depor surprisingly found a way through on goal when substitute Adrian broke the offside trap, but he hesitated and allowed the Valencia defenders to crowd him out.

In the dying embers of the match, Vicente tried a shot from 25 yards which cannoned off team-mate Raul Albiol. He followed up to collect the ball again and had time to finish into the far corner.

It was a good win for Quique Sanchez Flores' team, one which takes them up to ninth position. Joaquin Caparros was not happy with the officials as his Depor outfit stay in 13th.
