This showcase was held last Sunday @ Planet Hollywood KL.. nasib baik aku sempat pegi.. that day (and also Saturday) i had to go outstation ke S'ban.. nasib baik balik hari.. so sempat la balik dr S'ban tu terus giplanet.. itu pun sgt rushing.. we departed from S'ban at almost 7(driver lmbt smpai), then around 8+ baru smpai KL sbb jalan a bitjammed.. and aku pulak lupa nk bawak baju salin & camera.. so fromKL, drove back to my house at Sri Kembangan.. bersiap2 semua, kul 9.15keluar rumah, dekat2 kul 10 baru smpai PH.. Pergghh..it was jam packed inside i tell you..!! nasib baik we booked a table..but i decided to stand up instead to get a better & clearer view..mmng selama ni pun even if i booked a seat, i ended up standing.. lebihhappening.. hehe.
So the show started at around 10.35pm with the songIngin Ku Miliki & Dayang Sayang Kamu.. Throughout the show, Dayang showcased her versatility by singing songs of various genres from R&B, ethnic, pop, ballad, jazz, and even rock.. yup,she rocked the house alrite..!! And most importantly, most of the songsthat she sang came from requests by fans.. and also some by singers that she looked up to & songs that had inspired her.. Among the songs from her own album that she chose to sing were Erti Hidup,Hakikat Cinta, Seandainya Masih Ada Cinta and Tiba Tiba..
From the list of requests, there is one song that her fans dah lama nak dgr dia nynyi which is Umbrella.. since the song became a hit almost oneyear ago, fans tak henti2 request Dayang nynyi lagu tu & finally she did that night.. and it was marvellous..! she didn't do theoriginal R&B hip hop version, but chose the more rockish version ofMarie Digby's.. i loved it.. and Dayang continued to rock with Alanis Morrissette's You Oughtta Know & Doughtry's Home.. Dayang reallyrawkked the house..!! best gile Dayang nynyi these two songs.. gamatsatu PH tuh..!! Other requests yg Dayang nynyi were The Carpenter's Close To You & Corrine Bailey Rae's Like A Star (Ieta & my requests.. hehe.. thanks Dayang!)
And of course, there was a jukebox segment where the fans got to request songs on spot.. some of the requests that she obliged were Pintaku Yang Terakhir, Kasih Maafkan and No One.. aku tension je dgn org2 yg dok request lagu2 yg dah biasa dgr Dayang nynyi.. kan best kalau dpt dgr lagu2 lama yg jarang sgt Dayang nynyi mcm Walk Away, Hujan Lagi HatiIni, Semenjak Kau Datang, Untuk Sementara, or Bahaya ke kan..?! Suremeletop..
One particular song yg sgt best Dayang nynyi malam tu ialah Calling You by a band called Outlandish from Denmark.. the original song ada unsur2pop + hip hop, but was re-arranged making it a ballad, and it turned out to be really AMAZING..!!!! OMG, seriously i'm in love with the song.. 1st time dgr Dayang nynyi aku dah suka lagu ni.. the song ada unsur2 ketuhanan & lyricsnya sgt touching.. baliknya aku teruscarik mp3 lagu tu.. the original version pun best, but i love Dayang's version more coz it has more soul & depth.. vocal Dayang sgt bestnynyi lagu ni..
And since it's Dayang's tribute nite, she covered hits from some of her biggest influences including Sheila Majid's Ku Mohon, P.Ramlee's Gelora, Sudirman's Nilai Cintamu, Marvin Gaye's What's Goin' On and a medley of Beyonce's hits inclunding That's Why I Love You, Listen & Survivor..
Dayang closed the show with Hilang jazz remix.. overall, like any other showcases of hers, it really was a satisfying one.. sgt best.. Dayang covered all sorts of genres and entertained the fans effortlessly.. not forget to mention, Dayang looked stunning that night in blue-black & silver bling2 ensemble.. and making it a more memorable night, Datuk Yusni Hamid was also present in the crowd.. and before Dayang left the stage, Datuk Yusni naik pentaskalungkan rantai yg dia pakai tu utk Dayang as seen in the pictureabove.. Dayang should be really proud someone of Datuk Yusni's calibrepun dtg tgk show dia..!! Also in attendance that i noticed were ErraFazira & Engku Emran, Nur Aliah Lee, Ridzuan Hashim and Hattan.. soi think that's about it.. it really was a remarkable night.. Onceagain, Dayang conquered the planet..!! Haha..
