Real Sociedad v Valencia
Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores is looking to close the gap at the top of La Liga when they face struggling Real Sociedad on Sunday. The top three have been inconsistent recently while Los Che have battled from tenth up to fourth.
"To be knocked out of a competition upsets me, as it does the fans, but when there is such a radical change we must look at it as an accident," coach Flores said regarding the Copa del Rey loss to Getafe.
"Up until now we have been giving out a totally different impression of ourselves.
"(We now need to) concentrate on the competitions that I prefer, which are the Primera Division and Champions League."
Valencia are only four points behind leaders Sevilla, and two points off of Barcelona and Real Madrid. |

Valencia eye German keeper
20070119 11:59 |
Valancia are showing strong interest in Stuttgart's German international keeper Timo Hildebrand. | Reports in Germany claim the 27-year-old Stuttgart star has been approached by Valencia sporting director Amadeo Carboni about a proposal to join the La Liga club. | Hildebrand looks set to leave Stuttgart when his contract expires at the end of the season after Horst Heldt, the club's sporting director, explained that negotiations over a new deal had broken down.
| The German number two is believed to have received a number of offers from clubs outside the Bundesliga over a potential free transfer. | However, Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores is not thought to be keen on Hildebrand and moved to protect the confidence of his current senior keepers, including under-fire veteran Santiago Canizares. |

Valencia can continue their remarkable ascent up La Liga if they beat Betis on Sunday.
Los Che looked dead and buried in the title race but a good run of form coupled with indifferent performances from the top three have seen them rise to fourth.
At one point before Christmas Valencia had 11 first team players out and the same number of points to claw back if they were to get into the top three.
But the injuries lessened, the club won six in six and now lie just two points off leaders Barcelona.
"The first half of the season was difficult but we are now in a good position," midfielder David Albelda said. "It is great to finish the first half in a position that means we can fight for the title."
Albelda is not taking struggling Betis for granted, however.
"Although they are in the bottom part of the table, you can't relax because they've got some quality players. They've improved under their new coach," he said. |

aku pun lama x tepek kt sini..
Valencia sports chief Amedeo Carboni has moved for Real Madrid midfielder Juan Mata.
The 19 year-old is coming off contract at the end of this season and is a wanted player at Real, but he is also fielding offers from some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea and Olympique Lyon.
While denying reports that Valencia have asked about a winter market deal for Mata, Real Madrid have confirmed that Carboni is keen to take the player off their hands in the summer. |

Hildebrand move stalls
Stuttgart's Timo Hildebrand would-be move to Liga side Valencia is "far from complete", according to his agent.
The German World Cup squad member turned down a lucrative offer to keep him at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, and a move elsewhere for the 27-year-old has been mooted for some time now.
Valencia are reportedly in the driving seat to capture Germany's number two goalkeeper, but a deal with the Spaniards is still a long way off completion.
"The transfer is far from complete," said Hildebrand's agent Dusan Bukovac.
With the January transfer window closing at midnight on Wednesday, the likelihood is that Hildebrand will not move to Spain before the end of the season, an outcome the Liga outfit envisages.
Valencia's sporting director Amedeo Carboni also confirmed there was interest from the Liga side: "A deal has not yet been finalised, but there is interest from us for the player."
"His contract finishes in June and he will be free. We know that other clubs are also interested, but Valencia are well placed.
"Over the next few months, the matter will be decided one way or another."

Nando: "we can win title"file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/ROSSYA%7E1/LOCALS%7E1/TEMP/moz-screenshot-7.jpg
EXCLUSIVE! Valencia strikerFernando Morientes has told eurosport.com that his team could win LaLiga this season. The former Liverpool player is happy with his startat the Mestalla, but thinks his time at Anfield was an honour.
"Wehave 36 points, only six off the top of La Liga, so our intention is towin the title" Morientes told eurosport.com. "We are in a goodpositionI am sure Valencia can catch up with the top three."
Morientes joined Valencia last summer, and has already scored seven league goals and six in the Champions League.
"Itwas important for me to have a good start with my new team. The firsthalf of the season has been great," the former Real Madrid strikercontinued.
"I am really happy with my performances so far, I will work even harder to go on like this.
"There is a very good working atmosphere within the group, which is having a positive influence on results."
Valencia face Liga rivals Atletico Madrid next weekend, with both sides on the same number of points.
"Thismatch is very important, but not decisive. It is only three points,"Morientes declared. "It will be a very difficult match, as Atletico arevery close to first place."
The Spain striker, who has won threeChampion League titles with Real Madrid, is regarded as being a greatplayer who has nonetheless had problems adapting to foreign leagues.
"Idon't agree with what people say," he countered. "I have well performedwith Monaco in the French league (10 league goals and 9 ChampionsLeague goals in 2003/2004).
"I have just had problems in Englandduring a year and a half, that's all. So I told myself I shouldcome-back to what I knew best: Spanish football."
He does not feel that the move - with which accompanied great expectations - was a waste of time, however.
"Liverpool was a positive experience for my career," he said.
"Evenif I wasn't at my best, I am very proud to have worn that famous redshirt, it was an honour. Liverpool are a legendary club, one of thebest in Europe and in the world, I will never forget it.
"Nando"made his national team debut almost eight years ago and - after aperiod in the international wilderness - would like to return to LuisAragones' squad.
"The national team has always been an objectivefor me," he declared. "I have played so many matches with them. Ireally want to be recalled."
