Liverpool Keen on Bringing Mexican Winger To Anfield
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish looks set for another Summer of big spending, with one of his primary targets being the highly-rated Hector Herrera.
Liverpool are interested in signing highly-rated Hector Herrera during the summer transfer window, and the young Mexican has been tipped to forge a successful career in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old currently plies his trade with Pachuca, and played a prominent role in ensuring Mexico qualified for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.
It has been reported that the Anfield club have already approached Mexican side Pachuca but are yet to formalise their interest. The South American outfit finished fifth in last year’s domestic league, and Chief Executive Andres Fassi has been quoted saying:
“At the moment, we know that Liverpool is interested. But that’s all it is at this point, an interest,” he told ESPN.
Fassi also believes that Herrera has all the attributes to be a hit in English football, should he seal an eventual move to Liverpool. The young winger can play on either flank and was an integral part of the u23 Olympic qualifying campaign. His high levels of work rate, combined with his skill could make him a fantastic addition to Dalglish’s squad.
“If Herrera leaves, it will be thanks to a sale. We will not loan him out or send him for a trial,” added Fassi.
“Herrera can surely be one of the Premier League’s best players in two or three seasons. He’s that good.”
Liverpool have endured one of their worst ever Premier League seasons, with the likes of Andy Carrol, Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing all failing to live up to their price tag.
It is likely that the Anfield manager will now look at selling some of his bigger names, with the likes of Andy Carrol and Dirk Kuyt being rumored to leave. The sale of the two players could release the funds needed to finalise the purchase of Herrera. |
