kak tun... ader, Siti Zubaidah tuh memang betul, bukan rekaan,

serikandi westerners, Queen Boudicca (camne ejaan nie), pernah menentang penjajahan Roman di Britain
tapi ikut sejarah mediavel western pon, di belakang lelaki berjaya, byk perempuan yg bloodthirsty dan manipulative (ehehe, jgn marah)
bunuh adik beradik sendiri takpe, asal suami (dan of course isterinye dan anak2nya) dpt tanah dan title
cth ialah perempuan yg menjadi inspirasi kpd cerita Macbeth (Lady Macbeth)
byk lagi cth lain, lelaki hanya proxy shj

Thanabalasingam, perhaps holds a world record in being navy chief at 31 and receiving four promotions within a span of six months.
At one time, he was also appointed acting Armed Forces chief when Jen Tunku Osman Jiwa was away attending the regional border committee meeting in Bangkok.
In 1967, he was serving as resident naval officer in Tawau with the rank of lieutenant-commander.
A month later, he took command of KD Hang Tuah with the rank of commander before being promoted to captain to be groomed as the country抯 first navy chief.
"I spent a couple of months in Australia on a familiarisation tour and attended specialised command and staff courses, tailor made to lead a navy.
"When I returned on Dec 1, that year, I was promoted to commodore as RMN chief, something that usually takes 35 years," said Thanabalasingam, who was promoted to Rear-Admiral in 1973.
He retired at 40 in 1976 to make way for "younger blood".
His successor, Mohamad Zain, served only nine years as RMN chief before retiring at 49 to make way for his deputy, Commodore Abdul Wahab Nawi (who later retired as Lasksamana Madya.).
Thanabalasingam said the Government offered him a diplomatic posting upon retirement but he turned it down as it was only for three years.
Thanabasingam said that he, along with Datuk Sulaiman Sujak (who was then 33) were called at the eleventh hour by former Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman to replace an Australian and a Briton as commanders-in- chief of the navy and air force, respectively, in 1967.
"This was to ensure allegiance to the Government and to keep matters of the state as confidential as possible," said Thanabalasingam.
"Initially, both posts were offered to Malaysian Army generals but they turned them down so as not to jeopardise their army careers.
"Besides, they were not conversant with naval or air force operations. This was when Tunku summoned me and Sulaiman to take command.
"I remember my first appointment after commissioning was as a naval training officer at the Federation Military College in Port Dickson in 1958, having trained Abdul Wahab from the second intake."
One day in 1968, the Tunku summoned Thanabalasingam to an emergency Cabinet meeting in Penang when Philippine jets attacked Malaysian navy vessels off Sandakan.
"With Tunku Osman away in Bangkok, Tunku wanted me to assume his responsibilities. He instructed me to come up with a plan of defence.
"I told him we should mobilise our assets and manpower from Sarawak and then replenish them from the peninsula.
"Then, he dropped the bombshell. Tunku wanted me to hold a Press conference to announce Malaysia抯 intentions," said Thanabalasingam.
He still remembers the Straits Times headlines the following day warning the Philippines that Malaysia would shoot down its aircraft if they continued with hostilities.
The story stopped the Filipino aggression but Thanaba- lasingam was not happy with having to make the statement when Tunku or other Cabinet members could have done so.
An opportunity to find out why came when he paid a farewell call on the Tunku at his retirement.
"Tunku hosted a grand luncheon for me at his house in Penang. It was then that I popped the question 慦hy me? |
