Arsenal Linked With Boca Juniors Hero Battaglia
According to the News of the World, Arsenal are pondering a move for Boca Juniors' midfield general, Sebastian Battaglia, this month.
The British tabloid reports that Arsene Wenger has added the 28-year-old to the short-list of candidates who could give the Gunners' inexperienced core some much-needed muscle.
The Argentine international has attracted strong interest from Europe since winning his 17th title with Boca last month to become the club's most decorated player.
Lazio are thought to be especially keen on Battaglia, whose agent recently revealed that two Italian clubs and one English outfit had been tracking his client.
However, it remains to be seen whether the tough-tackling player will welcome a return to Europe, having an indifferent spell at Villarreal in 2004-05.

Davies' damning verdict on Arsenal 'screamers'
Kevin Davies has branded Arsenal an embarrassment, claiming they tried to con the ref into booking him.
The Bolton striker alleged their antics during the Gunners' 1-0 win at the Emirates were an attempt at revenge for his challenge on Gael Clichy in September which saw the Arsenal defender stretchered off.
Davies (right) said: "I've been accused of cheating by them in the past, yet when you catch one of them they scream to try and earn you a booking. There was a couple of challenges where I thought I won the ball but a few easy free-kicks were given because they let out a big scream.
"It's embarrassing really and in my eyes that's cheating the referee. A couple of times early on they tried to get me booked. You could see it was the plan after what happened in the game at our place and that tackle I had on Gael. I spoke to Gael about it and he was fine, so it was disappointing."
Davies, who avoided a yellow card, added: "When you're not competing for the ball, making big loud screams, it's embarrassing. But referee Chris Foy handled it quite well." |
