Yamaha turns red and white for anniversary
The Yamaha squad has revealed a red and white livery to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The bikes of Ben Spies and World Champion Jorge Lorenzo will take on the modified colour scheme for the Assen TT and Laguna Seca races in June and July, respectively.
Unveiled at Assen by the two riders, the livery will pay homage to Yamaha liveries of the past but containing ‘a modern twist’.
As well as the bikes, team staff and the pit box will also be adorned in red and white and a 50th anniversary logo will also be displayed on the bikes’ fuel tanks, inside the garage and on team trucks.
“I love these colours, they really have a historic significance,” says Lorenzo. “Read, Agostini…they all ran similar colour schemes when they won, so the opportunity to use it on the YZR-M1 is really nice. It’s a very special year for Yamaha and we hope that these colours will give us luck in those two races.” |
