bayern magic missing:kahn
Former Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is struggling to understand why the record German champions are finding it difficult to move into pole position this season.
Bayern have yet to climb to the summit of the Bundesliga this campaign and currently lie two points behind league leaders Hertha Berlin.
And Kahn, who hung up his gloves after winning the league and cup double last season, feels there is something not right with the way his former team-mates are performing this year.
"With the quality that is in this squad, it certainly surprises me that Bayern are not miles ahead at the top," he told the city's Tz newspaper.
Kahn decided to get out while at the top last summer, but he feels some of the team-mates he left behind have got so used to winning trophies they think glory will just come without trying.
"That is dangerous because the other teams are all giving it everything," he said.
"Maybe they are subconsciously struggling to find motivation."
Nevertheless, Kahn does not expect Bayern to have any problems defending their title, even if they do not run away with the league like everybody expected last summer.
He said: "Even if Bayern were to play at only 80% of their capability, they would still win the title.
"Who else can play with the same consistency?"
Bayern have yet another chance to move to the top of the table this weekend when they entertain Cologne at the Allianz Arena, but for that to happen, they need both Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim to lose their games at Wolfsburg and Stuttgart respectively
