H1N1 kat UK dan Europe tak lah "serancak" kat Malaysia in terms of death toll. Jumlah kematian di UK lebih ramai berbanding the whole of Europe.
Kena sentiasa basuh tangan. Di 8 negara di Europe yang kami pergi hari tu pun tak jumpak sorang pun yang bermask.
Pasai flight tak surelah alja, we drove to Europe. |

Kagum dengan kebesaran Allah melalui ciptaanNya dan terkesima dengan pembangunan ketamadunan Eropah. Banyak yang boleh diinsafi dan diteladani dengan berjalan-jalan di bumi Allah ini. |

Okay I know this came in very late, I think you would probably be in Swiss by now, but if you do get a chance to check this, maybe insyAllah this could help. I was in Swiss for several years, belajar kat sana, did hospitality as well, (Montreux, Vaud). I think it is a little bit too late for me to tell you what to pack... but yea, just so you know...
1) Winter jackets takes up alot of space in your bag.. cuba try pergi kat kedai yang jual winter clothing (1 Utama if you're staying in KL), dia ada jual this plastic vacuum like, where you can put all your jackets in the plastic... sit on it to air it out, and then your jackets will be really really flat. So you can put in more stuff in your bag.
2) As for shoes, get it there. They have this really special shoe/boots during winter, it will prevent you from slipping down. (By the way, sometimes, it snows in summer.. in June it was still snowing)
3) Halal food memang susah dapat. There are some kebab places there, but kadang kadang only it's lamb meat is halal and the chicken meat is not. You have to ask.
Almost all restaurants sells pork. Because they speak either, German, French of Italian.. menus in english are impossible to find. So.. please be careful when ordering. I speak french, so another word for porc is also ' larde '. Everytime I order a meal I make sure I say no pork or in french ' sans pork ' because sometimes, nasi goreng dia ada letak babi.
4) Language: First year I was there, I found it really tough because I had to order food in french, travel in a taxi in french, had to know numbers in french so that I can pay them.. but as time passes by, the people there became really helpful. They will help you out with your pronounciation. English is widely spoken, so don't worry.
5) Public Transportation: Since you're going to be long, I'd suggest you get the half price card.. this can be purchased at the train station.. which means, all bus, train and boat rides will be in half price. The bus: VMC, please make sure you know your zones (it is very important) and pay accordingly because eventhough the bus conductor is not there all the time, but if the officers randomly check you, and you're without a ticket and in the wrong zone, you have to pay 100CHF more.. that is RM 300 for a 50cents bus ride.
I hope this really helps. I didn't get to read what everyone wrote to you and questions they have answered, but I hope I didn't make a fool of myself :-p I hope you'll enjoy your stay in Swiss as much as I did.. our Malaysian Embassy is in Geneva if you have problems. They are really nice and helpful. There's also a Malaysian restaurant in Geneva, it is called Tanah Merah. During Christmas, there's a christmas market and it is really beautiful, can't compare it to anything else in the world.. do take your kids there... churros are great (mexican donought) :-D
Other than that, bonne chance (good luck) !!! |
