JOHOR BARU: She was to be his pillar of strength. But for singing sensation Asmawi "Mawi" Ani of Akademi Fantasia 3, his fiancee Noordiana Mohd Naim let him down when it mattered most.
Mawi抯 life has been in upheaval since his late father, Ani Ahmad, was hospitalised two months ago with heart failure.
It was a trying period and all he needed was for Noordiana or "Ina" to provide him with moral support and comfort.
But the day Mawi抯 father died, the news was overshadowed by Ina抯 announcement of their break-up.
Ina claimed that Mawi had called off their engagement in a telephone conversation with her last Friday.
And so began the nation抯 most scrutinised split.
"We are not fated to be together... I抦 sorry, Ina," said Mawi, in a tell-all interview in Johor Baru earlier this week.
Dressed in a baju Melayu, 25-year-old Mawi was a picture of calm. It was past midnight. Mawi, who shot to instant stardom after winning the popular reality talent show, had just returned from prayers for his father at the family抯 humble abode in Felda Taib Andak, Kulai.
"Yes, Ina and I did speak on the phone but I never indicated that our relationship was over," he said.

kira2nya betul la, mana nak fikir tentang kesihatan ayah, mana nak fikir kahwin, mana nak fikir tunang, mana nak fikir kerjaya, mana nak cari duit nak bayar bil hospital, mana nak layan gossip2 lagi
rasa2nya masa ayah dia sakit la yg banyak memberi tekanan dekat dia
yg sebelum2 ni ada tetapi mgkn tak berat sangat |
