Oricon: summer hairstyles
Thu, August 2, 2007 (5:55pm EDT)
Following up on its research about summer fashion, Oricon conducted a survey to see which celebrity hairstyles people want to copy this summer.

Meanwhile, men are trying to take after the "fresh" look of Satoshi Tsumabuki. He was favored over even Takuya Kimura, who ranked second. Hiroshi Tamaki and Joe Odagiri tied for third, with Masaharu Fukuyama ending up at #5.

Oricon: best tanned look
Thu, August 2, 2007 (6:32pm EDT)
Oricon has published the results of another summer-related survey. 2,000 men and women were asked to name the celebrities they felt were well-suited for a tanned look.
The #1 female was pro beach volleyball player Miwa Asao. Not far behind were Kumi Koda and Chinatsu Wakatsuki. The rest of the list: Namie Amuro, Tomoko Nakajima, Rikako Murakami, Yukie Nakama, Galsone, Yu Yamada, and Saki Aibu. The selection of Nakama is the most surprising, as the actress has rarely been seen with a tan.

In the male category, Mocomichi Hayami was the overwhelming favorite. Kenji Sakaguchi came in second, while third-ranked Shigeru Matsuzaki proved that even men in their fifties can look good with a tan. The other top choices were Takuya Kimura, Mikihisa Azuma, Tatsuya Yamaguchi, Tsuyoshi Shinjo, Masaru Nagai, Masahiro Nakai, and Shingo Katori.
Best tanned look (among females):

"Kinpachi Sensei" returns for 8th series
Sat, August 4, 2007 (11:24pm EDT)

This fall, TBS will air the eighth series of the drama "3 Nen B Gumi Kinpachi Sensei." Tetsuya Takeda will once again star as the title character.
The show's original creator and screenwriter, Mieko Osanai, is no longer on staff. In 2004, during the airing of the seventh series, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She left the show, replaced by screenwriter Yuki Shimizu for the second half of the series. At the time, it was announced that she had to leave for health reasons, but an article in Shukan Bunshun earlier this year reported that her health was not an obstacle, and the network forced Osanai to step down.
Osanai criticized the later episodes written by Shimizu, calling them "unrealistic." When asked about the possibility of the show continuing, she initially refused. The network was eventually able to get her approval for a new series, under the condition that it isn't like the episodes that Shimizu wrote previously.
The series begins airing in October, in TBS's Thursday 9:00pm time slot.
