Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that United are on the brink of appointing a new goalkeeping coach.
Previous incumbent Tony Coton was forced into retirement by atroublesome knee injury last season, at which point Richard Hartis tookthe role on a temporary basis.
Having taken stock of the situation and searched for a suitablefull-time replacement, however, Sir Alex expects to have a new man inplace for the start of the season.
"We have approached someone for the job and we抮e waiting for clearanceto employ him," the manager revealed. "Tony had to quit because of hisknee situation and we didn抰 rush to appoint a successor.
"It was only 10 days ago that we decided who to get. We hope we抣l have clearance by the beginning of August."

Alex Ferguson saw his Manchester United side lift the Vodacom Challenge trophy thanks to a 4-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in Pretoria.
Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney both found the target at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium as did Tom Cleverley and Fraizer Campbell.
United manager Ferguson used the showpiece match in South Africa to mix his side up with a game against Portsmouth to come in Nigeria on Sunday.
Apart from 18-year-old Cleverley, two other promising teenagers, Craig Cathcart and Rodrigo Possebon were also given run-outs.
It was a comfortable victory for United as the opposition looked weary after defeating Orlando Pirates on Thursday.
Chiefs had defeated United two years ago on penalties but they were outplayed this time around. |
