i rasa kan mcm ni kalau in Malaysia according to one of the pharmaceutical Professor lah , masa i tengok wanita hari ini tu, dia cakap kena ikut cuaca actually dalam pemilihan skincare product. Menurut beliau, kalau guna moisturiser in Malaysia ni selalunya jerawat akan naik sbb tak sama cuaca sbb negara kita katanya kadar kelembapan di udara dah tinggi. Tetapi di negare Barat pula , kelembapan udara kurang sbb sejuk kan ( mcm aircon tu) so mmg kena bubuh / pakai moisturiser...

itulah yg i tahu..

Kalau macam ni, nak pakai ge tak ? yang I pakai ni jenama Neutrogena Moisture SPF 15   (non-comedogenic facial moisturizer with UVB/UVA sun protection) Hypo-Allergenic formula.. (tak tau lah ape tu hypo-allergenic, tapi alcohol free & non-comedogenic ni sepatutnya tak cause break-out kan, according to information yg terpapar di kotak tu..)

i cuma guna cetaphil and Skinloren- ini my derm prescribed...ntahlah i pun have no idea...cuba you tanya ANIS -  i mean the Saudara ANIS 710 - i think he is well verse in these skincare products well for second opinion , kan i rasa  okay kot but it is all up to you ...

Cuma nak tau, berapa lama mbhcsf ambil untuk betul2 berkesan lepas pakai Retin A ni, dan seteruk mana acne yang ada sebelum pakai Retin A, dan selepas pakai sejauh mana improvement yg ia bagi (atau ambik anti-biotik in-conjuction with Retin A) ?

saya tak ambil retin A, LAra..saya ambil well i dunno jap nak citer in 1999 ade acne - dr prescribed me with benzamycin and then balik Malaysia  ambil DOXY - euwww..muntah nyer teruk ..sbb kena ada lifestyle changes - that means do not skip the b/fast - haa..lepas tu dah tak tahan

sbb i tak gak sembuh  then gi UK balik ..then bagi doxy balik and etc...tak berkesan
then in December 2002 - terus gi jumpa the same doc - give me azithromycin  - ini bettr but not in the long run
so i went to my CURRENT DERM- haa ini dia bagi  like guidelines punyer so my acne improved a lot and  masa tu dai cakap nak tak ROACCUTANE - well i know about it and i tak nak rthen my sis cakap inilah SATU SATUNYER UBAT JERAWAT yg dai percaya yg paling mujarab so i ambil ler...so Alhamdulillah after 3 months - allright !! and ken aambil precautions ler - liver blood test ...


as Of now

I NEVER TRIED YG COMMERCIAL PUNYA teringin nak  cuba DERMALOGICA you know the LEONARD DRAKE stuffs - after lengthy discussion with my derm - well hack i  tak pun beli semua benda tu

and alhamdulillah as of now i am okay  cuma after off Roaccutane as my derm said - some people do ader balik oily skin - and i am expriencing that - but NO ACNE

i cuma ambil CETAPHIL jer cuci muka

I started the Retin A regimen at 30 November 2004, but stop for a while when I found that the Retin A 0.05 cream is pretty much comedogenic which lead to clog my pores and end up worse (but, it help a little, but you know, oily and high-comedogenic, oouggh..)

So, I switch to PanOxy Gel (Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%), which sound not bad, less peeling I guess, but they're lied, at the first few days, the gel absorbed pretty well deep into the skin and skin look very shiny(not oily, perhaps because of the gel) and redness. Then, it started to peeling even worse than Retin A, but that not the main point, when use with a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil, the gel can't be wash off and if I rub it, it get too irritating, and I found that it still remain when I try to apply again the BP gel over my face..frustrating!! The worse thing is, when the skin getting thick because of the flaking side-effect, it is completely hard for any topical to apply on the skin..so finally I stop the PanOxy Gel.

Then, I met a Doctor (not Derm', pretty hard to find a Derm' here, I'm not living in big-town)..again, on Doxy and tea tree oil stuff (perhaps of my flaking skin), I only apply a light layer on the acne spot...then, while the Doxy helps..I guess, but the tea tree stuff..not well so I avoid and get a OXY5 (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%), this works much better than tea tree oil..but I still get mild acne...

On 26 December 2004, I started again the Retin A but I switch to 0.01% gel till now..and was always hoping it will eventually make my skin looks better as promised from it product info. I still get acne, perhaps it is too early to notice the improvement now.

Anyway, I am out of curious that which state that refer to it really abrasive my skin, so far, the skin is peeling as expected (well, for your information, I use it almost every night at the 0.01 % gel currently), and I don't apply moisturiser because I found that if I apply the moisturiser, the acne pay back, (this is the pain, shit..don't know why).

Oh, by the way I'm on Doxy and used OXY 5 which is at daylight and Retin A at night without any MOISTURISER due to acne pay back ..fortunately, I won't get myself expose to sun light..

Hope you review my regimen, and note out my mistake, so that I can improve or any tips if possible..

wow..thank you  and i must  say this is rather ... a lengthy account of your acne treatment regiment ... however, as i am not a doctor i think it would be best for you to get a proper consultation with any derm..just get yourself referred to i dunno HUKM ker or any university hospitals , i think since there may well be a skin specialist there ( if i am not mistaken).

One important thing is , you yourself should be able to  to note whether your acne is getting worse  Or better?
will it cause further distress to yourself ( and masalah nya org kata kan?)
then have there been alor of scars - since this is the most serious complications of acne and of course , we do not want that , don't we?

Lastly, Lara,  would you mind on giving yourself anoter chance to consult with a PROPER SKIN SPECIALIST / dermatologist - g/ment or uni hospital based settings?

I think I will, but the Retin A supposed to start working right now, while I notice it bring the skin to front (speed-up skin turn-over process, the *shit* is the flaking skin remain unremovable on skin..), as it may take up to 6-8 weeks to show improvement...and I'm on week 3, therefore I wait and see...

scars, yap the redmarks remain after the breakout strike...but accordingly it is not permanent scars, should be fade after 6 month-+...(this is always what I hope...!)
Further distress..yes, I used to be very good-looking + white skin + babe face... now redmarks remain that killing me when face on mirror...less confident when talking with people...

Lastly, Lara,  would you mind on giving yourself anoter chance to consult with a PROPER SKIN SPECIALIST / dermatologist - g/ment or uni hospital based settings?

hopefully I'll found a good dermatologist....and combat the $%#%@! p.acne.

mbhcsf, how to judge that one that have a serious problem with acne....? feel free to post a pic of your's BEFORE and AFTER accutane...of course you can crop portion of the pic to remain only skin with acne...without actual size...

awak carik moisturiser kan? neostrata ade oil control  & oil free berbentuk cecair for sensitive skin... saya penah try, die mmg cepat serap... lepas die serap, rase cam tak pakai product....(takde rase caking on your face).. rase cam baru sapu air kat muka....

and fungsi solution tuh... jaga kulit + combat acne....  its a win-win situation

hmmm yg saya tau.... dr yg jual (kakak tunang saya cakap sebab, mende nih pelbagai range die.... kalau jual kat kedai, takut org tak reti beli.... plus ade kepekatan acidity....jual kat klinik supaya dr boleh nasihat.... die citer, suruh mak die belikan kat kedah, tapi dr. tanak jual.... nak tgk patient baru die nak jual... although tak sumer klinik strict camtu kot).... tataula ape reason die..


c-mycin... clindamycin 0.1% kot (tak sure kena balik umah check %)...
tapi ini dr rekomen.....
arituh bawak adik saya pegi, dr tuh rekomen pakai akne-mycin atau differin...
so depend on skin kot...



neostrata product agak mahal laa...  complete set utk jerawat RM313... tahan lama jugakla.... saya punye cleanser + oil control gel + sunblock kena blasah ngn adik 3 org... stilll tahan lagi...

kalau awak setakat nak try saje..... ade jual trial pack... RM32 ajer.. tahan 2-3 minggu...

hi Lara -  i have never used that Retin A before...
and based on your personal account of your " psychosocial" aspects of your acne ni , kan..just go and seek Dermatologist lah...he will give you ( if he is really good the percentage of people who have succeeded in that roaccutane traetement but that will be in stats...i as of now ada balik oily skin but acne tu  mmg tak truk mcm memula)...but you know what the thing i ' ve read somewhere that  ini lawak yer bukan apa apa..yg ada satu stament ni cakap - stop worrying about acne since worrying about it will cause you to have more acne...but that's them...

klinik tuh ade servis microdermabrasion to soften skin up .. tapi tak penah try coz dr ckp right now my skin still needs AHA treatment

(microdermabrasion is more expensive than AHA..... so I believe her :lol)

In general,retin-A gels are stronger than creams because the medicine penetrates better when in a gel form.
