Toni Kroos, Christian Traesch Or Thomas Mueller To Replace Injured Bastian Schweinsteiger In Germany Squad
Germany coach Joachim Loew revealed his plans for central midfield and defence, and commented on upcoming opponents Turkey.
By Clark Whitney
Oct 7, 2010 2:03:00 PM
In the wake of Bastian Schweinsteiger's withdrawal from the Germany squad due to an ankle injury, coach Joachim Loew has revealed his candidates to replace the gifted holding midfielder.
"[Toni] Kroos, [Christian] Traesch or [Thomas] Mueller," he said when asked who are the candidates to start in place of the Bayern Munich man. Of the three, only Traesch has consistently played a holding role at club level, and Mueller is completely inexperienced in the position.
Loew also clarified that skipper Philipp Lahm will always play on the right of defence, and added that Jerome Boateng and Heiko Westermann will be primarily used in the centre, leaving the left slot up for grabs.
"Both players may occasionally be used on the outside, but we want a different permanent solution."
However, it appears that Loew has chosen Holger Badstuber to partner Per Mertesacker in central defence.
"In the last few months, Badstuber has given me a very good impression," he said.
Finally, Loew commented on Turkey, his team's opponents in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Berlin on Friday.
"Turkey are our strongest opponents in the group. However, I am very optimistic for tomorrow." |

Bundesliga - Van Gaal: Kraft my number one
Wed, 12 Jan 17:51:00 2011
Young goalkeeper Thomas Kraft is now first-choice at Bayern Munich according to manager Louis van Gaal.
Kraft, 22, has made just two first-team appearances since graduating from the club's youth side this season - both in matches at the end of the Champions League group stage - but will get the nod ahead of veteran Hans-Joerg Butt at Wolfsburg on Saturday when the Bundesliga resumes following the winter break.
Butt, 36, has started every one of Bayern's 17 league games so far this season, and Van Gaal did not rule out him regaining his place in the future.
"Kraft is the number one goalkeeper, but it could happen that Joerg Butt wins the place back. Both of them know that," Van Gaal told the club's official website.
Van Gaal has attracted criticism from club president Franz Beckenbauer for not discussing the decision to promote Kraft with sporting director Christian Nerlinger, but the Dutch coach is confident he will do well.
"I don't know but I have great belief that he will do so," he added.
Schalke and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern as a long-term replacement for Butt.

Milan beat Inter to Van Bommel
Dutch World Cup star Mark van Bommel has left Bayern Munich to join Italian giants Milan after his contract with the Bundesliga giants was terminated by mutual consent.
The 33-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a short-term contract until the end of the season, by which point he will be 34.
His Bayern contract was set to expire in the summer and he had been widely expected to move, although Italian and European champions Inter had been tipped as a destination.
"I leave Bayern with a heavy heart but with great memories," he told the German club's website. "I would like to thank the club and fans for four-and-a-half beautiful and successful years.
"Bayern will always be in my heart."
Bayern explained the move in a statement, saying the player had asked for his contract to be rescinded "for sporting reasons" after falling behind new signing Luiz Gustavo in the pecking order.
"Mark was always the consummate professional, an important and successful player for Bayern and in addition a great captain," chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added.
"Because of what he has done for the club we have respected his wishes and wish Mark and his family all the best for their future life in Italy."
Famed for his tough tackling and leadership, Van Bommel has played for PSV and Barcelona and had also been linked with Liverpool.
He won Liga and Champions League titles in his one season at Barca and two Bundesliga medals at Bayern, for whom he became their first non-German captain.
Van Bommel is the Rossoneri's second Dutch signing of the transfer window, following the deal to take left-back Urby Emanuelson from Ajax.
His capture appears to be a short-term measure as Milan have several central midfielders, including Andrea Pirlo, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Massimo Ambrosini, Mathieu Flamini, Gennaro Gattuso and Clarence Seedorf, although only Flaimini and Ambrosini are currently fit.
Milan are top of Serie A, four points clear of Napoli in second and nine ahead of Inter, and they face Tottenham in the last 16 of the Champions League.

DFL Confirm Germany Get Four Champions League Places In 2012-13
Feb 25, 2011 10:39:00 AM
The DFL has confirmed that Germany will have four Champions League places in 2012-13.
by Stefan Coerts
The German Football League (DFL) has confirmed the Bundesliga will get a fourth Champions League place in 2012-13. Germany has definitively leapfrogged Italy in the UEFA co-efficient rankings following this week's results in Europe and will consequently get four berths in the prized competition after next season.
"After 11 years, the Bundesliga has secured a fourth Champions League berth again from 2012-13 on," a statement from DFL reads. "As a result of this week's results in Europe, with Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both winning, while Napoli were eliminated, Germany further extended its lead on Italy in the UEFA co-efficients ranking to secure third spot in the ranking behind England and Spain.
"The German clubs have now accumulated 68,103 points and have extended their lead on Serie A (59,981) to 8,122 points. Italy are consequently no longer able to take over third spot this season.
"By securing third spot in the UEFA ranking, the Bundesliga will get three places in the Champions League group phase from 2012-13 on, while the fourth German representative starts in the play-offs of the competition."
The confirmation comes following Napoli's defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League round of 32, rounding off a poor fortnight for the peninsula after Champions League home defeats for Milan, Roma and Inter. |

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Nurnberg: Barrios & Lewandowski strike as hosts seal Bundesliga title
First half goals from Lucas Barrios and Robert Lewandowski were enough to lift Dortmund to victory over Nurnberg, on a day that saw BVB secure the Bundesliga title.
Borussia Dortmund treated the home fans to an entertaining spectacle as it earned a 2-0 win against a Nurnberg side without Timothy Chandler at the Signal Iduna Park. The victory, combined with Leverkusen's 2-0 loss to Koln, means that the Ruhr side has secured the Bundesliga title.
The match was rather evenly played over the opening 45 minutes, but Nurnberg made two defensive mistakes, and the hosts took advantage by taking a commanding lead at the interval. After a chaotic string of partial clearances, Mario Gotze had his low drive parried, and Lucas Barrios tapped in the go-ahead goal on 32 minutes. Ten minutes later, Javier Pinola was brushed aside as Robert Lewandowski turned the defender to claim a long ball, and the Pole delicately chipped in over goalkeeper Raphael Schafer.
In fairness, the score at halftime did not fully reflect the flow of play. The visitors enjoyed the majority of possession in spurts and for the most part, had their opponents under wraps defensively. Andreas Wolf had a clear chance to put der Club ahead on 14 minutes, but the defender missed over the bar from 12 yards, and the visitors were made to pay for their mistakes.
Aside from the goals, Dortmund had a couple good opportunities to score. Kevin Grosskreutz had a long-ranged blast parried in the 12th minute, and shortly before his goal, Barrios struck a free header into the ground and wide of the left post.
With the result all but decided, the game was less competitive in the second half. Christian Eigler had Nurnberg's best chance in the 56th minute as he slipped past Lukas Piszczek, but Roman Weidenfeller made a good kick-save to preserve the 2-0 scoreline. At the other end, Barrios and Neven Subotic missed narrowly with headers, but the biggest cheer from the crowd came 67 minutes into the game, when it was announced on the PA system that Koln had taken the lead against Leverkusen.
The result sees Nurnberg fall out of the race for a top five finish as it remains sixth, while it confirms Dortmund's first title in nine years. |

shinji kagawa..beli dari cerezo osaka 350k euro je, no 2 top 10 best transfer kt bundesliga soason ni
25 appearances, 10 goals, 2 assist
Given that he was arguably the best value signing in Europe up to the mid-season point, it really is a shame that Kagawa returned from the Asian Cup with a metatarsal fracture that has kept him out of the entire second half of the season.
Initially seen as a back-up playmaker, Kagawa's fine pre-season performances earned him a starting role in Jurgen Klopp's side. His goals only tell half the story of a playmaker who always makes the right runs, and passes. He will be a huge asset for BVB in the Champions League.
