JAKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- People on the Indonesian island of Sumatra were jolted Thursday by a powerful tremor that prompted the Indonesian government to issue another tsunami warning.

The quake came just 12 hours after Indonesia had been rocked by a deadly earthquake that killed at least nine people.

Residents in other Indian Ocean nations were also put on notice on Thursday about the possibility of tsunami waves. Most of those watches were later dropped, although a watch remained in effect for Australia.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake stuck about 6:45 a.m. (7:45 p.m. Wednesday ET), according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of Thursday's quake was about 185 kilometers (115 miles) south-southeast of Padang and about 201 km (125 miles) northwest of Bengkulu, at a depth of about 6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The Thursday quake was about 322 miles (200 miles) to the north of where an 8.4-magnitude quake struck Wednesday evening.

It was not immediately known whether Thursday's quake was an aftershock of Wednesday's event. Several aftershocks of lesser magnitude were felt in the area after the larger quake, which shook buildings hundreds of miles away, killed at least nine people and generated a small tsunami about 2 feet high along the Sumatran coast.

While there were no immediate reports of a tsunami after Thursday's quake, the Indonesian government issued a tsunami warning.

People in the Indian Ocean region have been extremely skittish about the possibility of earthquake-induced tsunamis since December 2004, when gigantic waves triggered by a 9.1-magnitude quake killed more than 200,000 people in seven countries.  Learn more about quake magnitudes

A Sardar and an American are seated next to each other
on a flight from Los Angeles to New York .
The American asks if he would like to play a fun-game.

The Sardar, tired, just wants to take a nap, so he
politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks.

The American persists and explains that the game is easy
and a lot of fun.

He says, "I ask you a question, and if you don't know
the answer, you pay me $5, and vice versa."

Again, the Sardar declines and tries to get some sleep.

The American, now worked up, says, "Okay, if you don't
know the answer, you pay me $5,
and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $500."

This gets the sardar's attention and, figuring there
will be no end to this torment, agrees to the game.

The American asks the first question, "What's the
distance from the earth to the moon?"

The Sardar doesn't say a word, reaches into his wallet,
pulls out a $5 bill and hands it to the American.

"Okay," says the American, "Your turn."

So the Sardar asks, "What goes up a hill with three legs
and comes down with four legs?"

The American thinks about it. No answer.

Puzzled, he takes out his laptop computer and searches
all his references. No answer!

He taps into the air-phone with his modem and searches
the Internet and the Library of Congress. No answer.

Frustrated, he sends e-mails to all his friends and
co-workers.

Checks the input. All to no avail!

Finally, a long time later, he wakes the Sardar and
hands him $500.

The Sardar thanks him and turns back to get his sleep.

The American, more than a little miffed, stirs the
Sardar and asks,

"Well, what's the answer?"

Without a word, the Sardar reaches into his purse, hands
the American $5,

and goes back to sleep!

Dalam solatku yang sudah sekian kalinya, aku tetap merenung telunjukku dalam setiap tasyahud (tahiyyat) awal dan akhir, mengharapkan pahala menurut sunnah mengisi setiap kantung pahala yang tak pernah ku lihat. Berpuluh tahun berbuat demikian, perasaan ingin tahu tetap menerjah hatiku. Mengapa Rasulullah s.a.w. berbuat demikian? Mengapa disunatkan merenung telunjuk sewaktu tasyahud? Pasti ada sesuatu sehinggakan disunatkan berbuat demikian. Bagi yang tak ambil pusing, tetap bahagian mereka dengan kantung pahala yang sarat di akhirat, dijamin Allah s.w.t..



Dirujuk persoalan itu kepada yang arif. Kata mereka telunjuk itu satu, diangkat ketika mengucapkan kalimah "Aku bersaksi bahawa Tiada Tuhan Yang disembah melainkan Allah" bagi menandakan keEsaan Allah yang Satu, Yang Maha Esa dan Tiada yang sebanding denganNya. Jawapan yang diberi mententeramkan jiwaku hanya buat seketika. Memang benar apa yang dikatakan yang arif itu tadi, tapi mengapa gelodak jiwa mengatakan ada sesuatu yang lain.

Aku sentiasa terganggu dengan persoalan yang ditimbulkan hati yang mendesak-desak mencari rahsia sebenar sehingga hatiku puas. Kenapa hanya perkara ini begitu mendesak jiwa sedangkan perbuatan itu hanya dilakukan dengan seketika dalam solat.

Sehinggalah di suatu senja yang sangat hening. Hujan lebat mula turun di luar rumah, menghalang langkah insan yang beriman lemah ini untuk ke tempat azan dilaungkan. Ditunaikan tanggungjawabku kepada Yang Maha Pencipta dalam kamar bacaan di rumah. Maghrib itu membuka persoalan lama itu kembali. Mula sahaja tasyahud awal, telunjukku direnung dan membangkitkan kembali persoalan yang sering bermain dijiwaku.

Kekhusyukan dalam ibadatku sedikit teganggu, minda ditumpukan kembali kepada bacaan solat supaya hatiku tetap berpaksikan rasa syukurku kepada Yang Menciptakan diriku dengan segala kesempurnaan. Tapi semua itu terganggu kembali bila saja aku berada dalam tasyahud akhir. Sekali lagi aku mengucapkan kalimah " Ashhadu allaa ilaa ha illallah (Aku bersaksi bahawa Tiada Tuhan Yang disembah melainkan Allah) sambil jari telunjukku diangkat menandakan aku mengakui keEsaan Allah s.w.t..

Bagaikan hendak tersembur kandungan dadaku tatkala aku merenung jari telunjukku pada kali ini. Serta merta airmataku mencurah-curah keluar tak tertahan, ditahan sebak dadaku supaya tidak terbatal solatku. Allahuakbar! Allah Maha Besar! Ampunkanlah segala dosa yang telah kulakukan dengan tanganku ini... Ya Allah! Betapa Engkau memuliakan kami manusia dengan kalimah NamaMu pada jasad kami yang kotor ini.. Ampunkanlah kami, ampunkanlah aku... Mulai maghrib hari itu, perbuatan mengangkatkan dan merenung telunjuk dalam tasyahud tidak lagi mengganggu kekhusyukan solatku, tapi ia membuatkan hatiku sentiasa gentar dan sayu..

Sayu mengenangkan dan merindui Allah s.w.t., gentar kerana aku melihat aku ini milik Allah... Ya! Benar.. akhirnya jawapan bagi persoalan itu telah kutemui bila saja terpandang kalimah Allah ditelunjuk kananku.. Subhanallah! Maha Suci Allah! Ampunilah aku sekiranya tangan yang membawa kalimah namaMu yang Maha Suci dan Mulia ini telah aku gunakan untuk melakukan dosa dan maksiat melanggar perintahMu.. Ampunkanlah HambaMu ini Ya Allah.....

For weeks a 6 year old kept telling his teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house.

One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child. This 6 year old boy was clearly impressed, but didn't say anything. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the upcoming birth.

The  teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said: "Zaini, what has become of that baby brother or sister that you were expecting at home?"

Zaini burst into tears and confessed: "I think mommy ate it!"

Suatu pagi seorang anak yang baru masuk sekolah primary bertanya kepada daddynya,
'Daddy.daddy. ...sex tu apa, daddy..?'
Terkulat-kulat si ayah. Terfikir dia tentang arus kemodenan zaman
sekarang yang membuatkan manusia berfikiran terbuka, termasuklah anak-
anak yang masih kecil. Sesuai dengan konsep pendidikan seks yang sedang
hangat dibincangkan, mulalah si ayah mencari-cari jawapan yang sesuai
dengan harapan anaknya takkan tertinggal dalam arus pendidikan moden.
Maka si ayah pun memberikan jawapan secara mengkiaskan kumbang dan
bunga,telur yang yang menetaskan berudu dan seterusnya menjadi
katak, hujan serta benih yang mencetuskan tunas, diikuti dengan
pembentukan bayi dalam kandungan.
Sebelum mengakhiri jawapannya itu, si ayah menyelitkan pula kisah
percintaan antara dia dan mamanya sejak dari zaman sekolah menengah
lagi hinggalah kepada kelahiran seorang bayi comel iaitu si anak yang
bertanya itu. Tiba-tiba si anak menangis teresak-esak. Si ayah kehairanan.
'Eh kenapa ni?'
Si ayah bertanya kehairanan. Si anak masih juga menangis.
'Jawapan daddy tu panjang sangat, tapi tempat nak tulis jawapan ni
pendek. Daddy ajalah yang tulis, waaaaa!!!!'
Kata si anak lantas menyerahkan buku latihan Bahasa Inggerisnya yang
pada muka depan tertulis.... .

TOKYO (AFP) - Japanese researchers have succeeded in producing see-through frogs, letting them observe organs, blood vessels and eggs under the skin without performing dissections.

"You can see through the skin how organs grow, how cancer starts and develops," said the lead researcher Masayuki Sumida, professor at the Institute for Amphibian Biology of state-run Hiroshima University.

"You can watch organs of the same frog over its entire life as you don't have to dissect it. The researcher can also observe how toxins affect bones, livers and other organs at lower costs," he told AFP.

Dissections have become increasingly controversial in much of the world, particularly in schools where animal rights activists have pressed for humane alternatives such as using computer simulations.

Sumida said his team, which announced the research last week at an academic conference, had created the first transparent four-legged creature, although some small fish are also see-through.

The researchers produced the creature from rare mutants of the Japanese brown frog, or Rena japonica, whose backs are usually ochre or brown.

Two kinds of recessive genes have been known to cause the frog to be pale.

Sumida's team crossed two frogs with recessive genes through artificial insemination and the offspring looked normal due to the presence of more powerful genes. But crossing the offspring led to a frog whose skin is transparent from the tadpole stage.

"You can see dramatic changes of organs when tadpoles mutate into frogs," said Sumida, whose team is seeking a patent.
Such frogs could theoretically exist in the wild but it is "virtually impossible" they would naturally inherit so many recessive genes, Sumida said.

The transparent frogs can also reproduce, with their offspring inheriting their parents' traits, but their grandchildren die shortly after birth.

"As they have two sets of recessive genes, something wrong must kick in and kill them," Sumida said.
While the researchers relied on artificial insemination, they said that genetic engineering could also produce transparent and even illuminating frogs.

Sumida said researchers could also inject into the transparent frogs an illuminating protein attached to a gene, which would light up the gene once it manifests -- for example, showing at what stage cancer starts.

Sumida said it would be unrealistic to apply the same method to mammals such as mice as their skin structure is different.
