Tanushree has 4 and not 3 back to back releases
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, May 22, 2007]
Ever since the promotion of RAQEEB began, there was widespread news about number of film releases which Tanushree Dutta would be seeing in coming days.
It was being mentioned that she had 3 back to back releases beginning with GOOD BOY BAD BOY [which came a week before] followed by RAQEEB [which came last Friday]. Apart from these two films, the third movie that was being mentioned in the same vein was Priyadarshan's DHOL which is expected in the month of July.
But hold on, there is one more flick of hers which would be coming in the interim!
It is SPEED where Tanushree is paired opposite Zayed Khan and would be coming towards June end. A thriller by Vikram Bhatt, the film has Urmila Matondkar as the central protagonist while Tanushree Dutta is clearly in the second lead.
A film which was signed by her more than two years back when she had just begun her career with AASHIQ BANAYA APNE and CHOCOLATE, SPEED is now finally gearing up to hit the screens.
One waits to see what's the role Tanushree has to play in the film, especially after an author backed central protagonist performance in RAQEEB that has seen her getting accolades from all quarters! |

AWARAPAN of Bhatts and Pakistanis
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, May 23, 2007]
The Bhatts' affinity for actors and musicians from Pakistan is common knowledge - a fact that is evident in all their recent releases, Nazar, Woh Lamhe, Gangster, Kalyug and Zeher.
Their forthcoming title, Awarapan, however, takes the Pakistan connection to a new level altogether. Not only has a section of the climax been secretly shot in Lahore but every singer on the film's chartbusting soundtrack, without exception, hails from Pakistan, making it the first for a mainstream Bollywood flick.
The main vocals for the two key songs (To Phir Aao & Tere Mera Rishta) belong to Mustafa Zahid, who founded the famous Pakistani band, Rox3n. The other track, Maula Maula, is by Rafaqat Ali Khan, while the lively Maahiya, has been rendered by the 22-year old Annie, whose track took Pakistan by storm when it debuted in 2006.
And this isn't enough! Shreya Saran (who plays Emraan Hashmi's romantic interest in the film) is a Muslim character in the film. Her get-up and mannerisms were specially worked on!
Being released internationally by Studio 18 on June 29, Awarapan will most certainly have the Muslims flocking to cinemas for more reasons than one! |

Bobby, Akshaye, Urvashi have disguised intentions
Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, May 23, 2007]
Abbas Mustan have always struck it hard when it comes to their thrillers. In contrast whenever they have tried their hands at doing something different [36 CHINA TOWN, TAARZAN - THE WONDER CAR, CHORI CHORI CHUPKE CHUPKE], the results haven't been as much satisfying.
This is why NAQAB is special!
A bona fide thriller with three main characters, Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and new find Uvashi Sharma, NAQAB has created a stir within days of its first theatrical promo being aired alongside LIFE IN A...METRO.
Carrying a thriller look with all the right elements of suspense, crime, intrigue, jealousy and action in place, NAQAB also showcases the 'disguised intentions' of it's principal star cast, as told through the film's tagline.
Touted as the MOST SHOCKING THRIKLLER OF THE YEAR, NAQAB would be seeing a July release. |

"I think I am a Superman" - Yudi
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, May 23, 2007]
It appears that final shooting schedule of Friday Picture' s first venture Rafoo Chakkar- Fun on the run was hundred percent jinxed.
First one camera fell down. Then water fell on one of the machines. Additional problems came in form of electricity failure. But cr鑝e-de-cr鑝e of this entire falling sequence was fall of one of the hero Yudhishtir.
"It looked as if Yudhishtir had given up, so tired was he. So by the end of the day, instead of climbing down from his higher perch in one of the scenes, he simply decided to fall down. And what a fall it was! Impact was so great that he broke through a chair. Luckily, instead of falling head down his legs hit the chair and went through it. Initially we all were very worried and went in to check on him. Once we realised that he had no broken bones or concussion, all of us had a real good laugh. His posture was extremely funny. In fact director Tharun Kumar kept recalling the incident and laughing the next day also," says another hero Aslam Khan.
"Thank God it was chair that broke and not me. I think I am a superman," quips Yudhishtir.
Friday Picture's first venture Rafoo Chakkar- Fun is in the post production now. Rafoo Chakkar- Fun on the run is the first production from Friday Pictures.
Directed by B.H Tharunkumar and Written by Ikram Akhtar, this tongue in cheek funny film Rafoo Chakkar- Fun on the run stars Aslam Khan, Yudhishtir (Veejay Yudi), Nauheed Cyrusi, Nisha Rawal, Archana Puran Singh, Mita Vashishta, Shakti Kapoor, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Tinu Anand, and Anant Mahadevan.
About Friday Pictures:
Friday Pictures is amalgamation of seasoned experts from the field of media and overseas business. Rafoo Chakkar- Fun on the run, a humorous film, is their first production and they plan to produce minimum of three films of different genre every year. |

Pakistani singers at war in AWARAPAN music videos
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, May 24, 2007]
Even though producer Mukesh Bhatt was not gung-ho about the idea, director Mohit Suri introduced the concept of music videos to Bollywood with the chart busting Woh Lamhein Woh Raatein remix from his film, Zeher.
He continued the successful trend with the remix of Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai from Woh Lamhe. For his latest film, Awarapan, releasing worldwide on June 29, he has shot two music videos, both of which are set to take the nation by storm.
The first (already on air) is DJ Suketu's remix of To Phir Aao, shot in Hong Kong, and featuring Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid along with Emraan Hashmi. Suketu has even remixed Zahid's other rendition, Tera Mera Rishta, whose video will follow on the airwaves in the weeks to come.
However, the track that is fast becoming the secret favorite of youngsters is Suzanne's foot-tapping Mahiya, originally composed by the British-Pakistani singer, Annie.
In this war between the Pakistani singers, let's see whose track in Awarapan emerges victorious at the end of it all! |

Emraan Hashmi sees global release with AWARAPAN
IndiaGlitz [Friday, May 25, 2007]
It is common knowledge that all the recent Mukesh Bhatt/Mahesh Bhatt releases Zeher, Woh Lamhe and Gangster have worked in India and been musical sell-outs.
Unfortunately, the Asian audience overseas was deprived of watching these titles on the big screen, as their films never had a principal theatrical outing in the key markets being the UK, US & UAE.
However, with Awarapan the Bhatts will witness a foray into the international market courtesy of Studio 18, which is giving the film a simultaneous day-and-date cinematic release on June 29. This will also mark the testing ground for Emraan Hashmi in the overseas market.
"Awarapan is our biggest venture till date and we are extremely excited about taking the film international," stated Mukesh Bhatt. "We've shot the concluding reels in Pakistan, as the story naturally shifts there so we wanted it to be as authentic as possible."
According to rumours, promotional events for the film are being planned out in the UK & UAE. |
