Ayala makes Che threat
Roberto Ayala is threatening to refuse to play for Valencia unless the club grant him his wish to leave the Mestalla outfit.
Liga rivals Villarreal have bid for the Argentine's services, but their offer has been shunned by Valencia.
Valencia have stated the experienced defender can only leave for the right price, however Ayala is in no mood to wait patiently in the wings.
Ayala, who has already missed two days of training is threatening not to play for the club unless they allow him to leave.
"For us, the situation is clear," explained Ayala's agent Gustavo Mascardi to Radio Nou.
"Valencia have to allow Ayala to leave, or else he'll simply see out the last year of his contract without playing.
"I'm going to meet with Valencia's directors, because I do not understand their motives for rejecting Villarreal's offer.
"Ayala's desire is to go to Villarreal."
Ayala is not ruling out a switch to The Premiership, although his agent has stated his client will only join a prestigious club for the right deal.
"That question depends on the club and the money," Mascardi concluded on whether Ayala could be headed for England. |

Argentine Ayala desperate to leave Valencia
[quote]MADRID: Argentine international centreback Roberto Ayala said he felt cheated by Valencia over a promised contract renewal and hinted that he wanted to join regional rivals Villarreal.
The 33-year-old, whose present deal expires at the end of this season, accused the club抯 new sporting director Amedeo Carboni and president Juan Bautista Soler of backing out of an agreement to give him a two-year extension.

Ayala facing Valencia rap
Eurosport - Mike Hytner - 13/08/2006 13:09
Valencia opened disciplinary proceedings against their Argentine international Roberto Ayala on Sunday following the player's criticisms of the club during the week. Ayala had fired a broadside at club officials on Friday claiming they had failed to honour their word over a contract extension.
Club president Juan Bautista Soler and sporting director Amedeo Carboni were on the receiving end of the uncompromising defender's criticism, who believes the pair had reneged on their promise to extend his contract.
As a result, the centre-half has handed in a transfer request, despite having a year to run on his present deal.
"I wanted to stay here until the end of my career but that dream had now disappeared because certain people did not keep their word," Ayala said on Friday.
"It hurts that I have been cheated by a club for which I have given everything.
"I was forced to take this decision and I have told both the coach and president that I want to leave."
But now Valencia have hit back at the want-away star, accusing him of being more interested in money than the fortunes of the club.
"I profoundly lament these comments that have come at a most inopportune moment," Carboni said.
"At the same time the comments have opened our eyes and strengthened our desire to count on players who are truly committed to the club and less interested in cheques."
The immediate future is not looking bright for the South American, with Valencia not prepared to sell |

Ayala: My head's at Villarreal
Valencia's Argentina centre-back Roberto Ayala said he feels cheated by the club and wants to sign for regional rivals Villarreal. The 33-year-old, whose deal with the club expires at the end of this season, said that Valencia have not kept their word about the duration of a new contract.
"I'm a professional, so if I have to finish my contract I will, but I'm not happy at the club," Ayala told a news conference in Valencia on Friday.
"I respect the coach [Quique Sanchez Flores] but he knows that I can't be at 100 percent.
"There are people some 70 kilometres from here [at Villarreal] who value me more than the people here. I want to solve this problem as soon as possible, but my head is no longer at this club."
Ayala, who was part of Argentina's World Cup squad, denied that his dispute with Valencia was over money.
"This is nothing to do with money," he said. "I feel well paid here at Valencia, but I feel cheated. I wanted to stay here until the end of my career but that dream had now disappeared because certain people did not keep their word."
Ayala joined Valencia from AC Milan in 2000 and has been the most influential player in the club's back four ever since. He played a vital role in helping the club reach the Champions League final in 2001, win the Spanish league title in 2002 and win both the league and UEFA Cup in 2004.
The Argentine arrived late for training at the club after a visit to his home country last week and missed out on his side's 1-0 defeat to Salzburg in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. |

Trio on Martins trail
Eurosport - ac - 14/08/2006 10:48
Valencia, Portsmouth and Newcastle are involved in a three-horse race to sign Obafemi Martins from Inter. The striker is almost certain to leave the Giuseppe Meazza after the arrivals of Hernan Crespo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ambitious Portsmouth are ready to shell out 14m euros (£9.5m) for the Nigerian and hand him a contract worth 4m euros (£2.8m) per season.
However, Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder has publicly expressed his interest in the 22-year-old, who would provide the perfect cover while Michael Owen recovers from a cruciate knee ligament injury.
"It's not going to be easy to sign a player of Martins' quality, but I do like him and I don't mind saying that," Roeder said.
Martins' third option could be Valencia, and if the Spanish club meet Inter's valuation of the player they will be favourites to sign him with the possibility of Champions League football this season.
Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores has admitted: "We need to strengthen the team, especially in attack," and the pacy Martins would provide a dynamic alternative to Fernando Morientes and David Villa. |
