You can expect the Georgians to shelter and arm the Chechen fighters from now on. |

Unit Chechen ?
Vostok Battalions, GRU units base in Chechnya. Heard that the Georgians were terrified knowing that this unit was also deployed in this conflict.....must admit, its good to have such reputations that the chechens has.
my personal opionion on this war; Georgia is an over-ambitious mat-jenin aa. -they just got some trainings (and some small-arm hardware) from the US & IDF, and they tot they can conquer SO easily (over-confident dgn their own military capability) and the U.S/NATO will back-em up if Russia counter-attack. Should seen the pic of Georgian army, with all the nice marpat, fritz helmets, m-4s,g36 etc..sort of US wannabe armed forces look-alike.
But overall, i think this was politicians mistake (Saakashvili looks more like Baghdad-Bob)and sadly its the civilian and the armed forces yang suffer. However, the image of Georgian Defence minister walking around the conflict area wearing marpat and ak in hand is quite something. How many defence minister in the world actually go down to the conflict zone and dressed for battle? may be he's a trooper's man or just got this 'rambo' thinking installed in his brain after making friends with the U.S? anyways, most of the pics of t-72 (turret blown-apart) probably caused by the cooked-off magazine carousel-the weak design point on T-72 series...which worries me a bit when thinking of our own PT-72s (eventhough, there is no such thing as undestructible tanks, but the thought still bothers. Hopefully, the KAD knows have good tactics in capitalize the use of PTs in conflict; good system, bad deployment tactic = disaster, on the other hand, mediocre system, good tactic=havoc on the enemy if not wins the war)
Cant help it to share, during the beginning of the whole conflict, it reminds me time sekolah menengah dlu, budak form 1 baru dapat member form 5 dah tunjuk lagak kat classmate (ada big taiko laa)-lastly kena blasah ke longkang jugak. |

can you please back-up ur statement?
Vostok Battalion are under direct subordination of Russian Ministry of Defence and GRU. The battalion are under operational subordination of 42nd Motor Rifle Div.
Base on ur statement, it seems that we have a 'hardcore' Russian military unit 'in' Georgia before the war started?...righttttttttttttt..
here is some basic info for you to digest:
1) Vostok Battalion consists of Chechens dats loyal to the Russian which the majority are Muslims and the battalion was raised in 2003 after the 2nd Chechen war.
2) Georgia are majority of Orthodox Christian (and not mentioned high number of Jews- shebernadze himself is Jew) and dat's one of the reason why IDF (morelike its PMC) trains Georgian military.
put the (1) and the (2) is enough to put statement out of context.
3) Georgia is an independent state and not part of Russian Federation.
and ur statement suggesting otherwise.
Sir, please do bit of checking before posting some statement so confidently, it only shows ur lack knowledge in the conflict and ur objective is only to impress people rather then informing the actual information.
sounded as if someone told me that the 10Brigade Para of MAF is always in Singapore.... |

already did and the only thing mentioned is vostok batt was deploy to S.O/Georgia only when the war started. They are not '' have always been in Georgia"'.
Russia sends Chechen special forces to defend S.Ossetia
RIA Novosti, August 11, 2008
MOSCOW, August 11(RIA Novosti) - Two companies from Chechnya's Zapad and Vostok specialbattalions have been sent to Georgia's breakaway republic of SouthOssetia to help defend against Georgian forces..
Vostok batt majority are Muslims just with different ideas or opinion on how the look to the Russian compared to the Chechen fighters that we accustomed to. If Kadyrov thinks that Russians are OK group, then that also means there are lots of Chechens that have the same thinking. |

yup they're Moslems but have different views on Moscow or Islam when compared to Chechen's freedom fighter (Dudayev, Basayev, Al-Khattab etcc..)
Special thing pasal vostok (or Chechen in that matter) that they are well known as tenacious fighter by the adversary. When the news of vostok being deploy in the conflict, it causes concerns and fear to the Georgian military (there were unconfirm reports that some of the check-points were being abandoned because of this).

kebanyakkan georgian army pakai marpat (u.s marine pattern) uniform dgn a-la western(or modern) kits (frizt helmet, pouches, some even carry m-4, g36 walaupun kebanyakkan still pakai ak etc..). US sponsered/trained and israel pmc trained.
nak easily identify, if yg smart (and selalunya dah mati) dat would be the Georgians, russian plak, well...yang nampak selebet tu (overall macam baju hujan pun ada) slalunya puak russian.
US terkejut & heran tgk the swiftness of the russian 58th army and the black fleet manouver in the conflict. Putin realy wanna show the west that Russia is not 'dead' yet and a force to reckon with. |

well, chechens start berperang dgn russians & georgians under banner Islam since 1780's lagi. so, memang beranak and berperang ja dia org nie. baca history campaign russian dgn chechen nie memang membanggakan le jugak, dari Mansur Ushuma, Imam Schamil to Abdullah Basayev and skrang pun masih ada counterinsurgency lagi. cuma dia org pun macam Malaysia time jepun dlu, ada jugak Melayu joind kempetai so ada le jugak chechen yg join russians. bila study culture dia org, memang satu bangsa yg interesting. bangsa yg keras latar belakang tapi loyalty in friendship memang no doubt (cuma lawak pun kasar le jugak) |

Vostok batallion well known for brutality rather than skill. They are accused by fellow Chechens of massacre of fellow Chechens and of kidnapping. |
