Toma Ikuta makes it to Blue Ribbon awards just in time
Toma Ikuta (26) received his Blue Ribbon award for acting at a ceremony in Tokyo yesterday, reports Sports Hochi and Mainichi Shimbun Digital.
It has been reported the Johnny’s talent had just enough time to duck out of his Mishima double stage show, take off his woman stage make up, and make it on stage in time to get his agency’s first Blue Ribbon award.
“I never thought I’d get an amazing award like this so I feel very honoured.
“Awards had been completely alien to me so I really want to thank everyone around me,” he said.
Ikuta had received his award for his work in “人間失格 (Ningen Shikkaku)” and “ハナミズキ (Hanamizuki)”. It has been reported “Ningen Shikkaku” movie distributor Kadokawa’s CEO Tsuguhiko Kadokawa was also in the crowd watching over Ikuta’s win.
“First of all I want to thank Mr Kagokawa for bringing me into the world of film, my father, my mother, and all of my fans,” Ikuta said as he bowed.
As the star had been getting ready to get back to his stage play, Satoshi Tsumabuki, who had won a Blue Ribbon award for “悪人 (Akunin)”, promised Ikuta he would see the Mishima double show. There’s no doubt the chance to spend time with his acting seniors has motivated Ikuta to aim higher.

Is everyone still in the new year mode?
Are you still enjoying the new year holidays?
I've started rehearsing for the show.
First it's Hitler, I can see the outline now.
Just have to make some minor changes to it.
But it takes a lot of work and effort to do that.
I think it would be great when I finish it.
Work hard on that,
and I hope people won't be able to fall asleep
after watching it because of how exciting it is.
And, I have to start rehearsing Sade's part very soon.
It is very difficult to play two parts at a time…
A challenge that requires more determination than usual.
Will work very hard.
Less than a month until the show comes up,
please look forward to it.

Have been rehearsing every single day.
We have done scene 3 of Sade. That's fast.
There are excellent actors.
So I have to work hard to catch up.
There wouldn't be any loss doing it.
---With an attitude like this.
I just had to reread the lines over and over again.
I watched SMAP's concert DVD at home to cheer myself up.
I'm going to be ONLY ONE
Anyways, back to the topic.
It's still New year, so I have to tell everyone this good news.

Thank you everyone~.
I'm excited and proud of getting this award.
As an actor who just started filming last year,
this is a perfect start.
Everyone, really, thank you.
I made my way from Johnny's entertainment to here,
people might wonder "Where is Ikuta's place?"
This vague feeling,
maybe it's still this way.
To be recognized by the people who rates films,
getting this thing that I can actually keep,
it feels like…. It's okay even it is a small one,
at least we can stand up straight right?
This kind of feeling.
I said this because
This is a very precious award and it means a lot to me.
So, I'm going to celebrate it today!
Let's eat red bean rice together!
I don't really like it, so I'm not going to eat that!
Have to work hard tomorrow!
Come on, I don't know what is the consequences of saying this,
but I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
Acknowledging this, will have the power to grab something huge!
