hello all...
i've been busy.
dapat abiskan satu buku je setelah sekian lama.

citernya mendatar.
Karrie Kline met a load of Mr Wrongs in her life.
she's an actress, maybe pasal tu la
dia asyik jumpa org yg salah je.
ada few tips yg aku belajar.
especially dalam hal hal
"camne nak get away from dull, boring, hampeh people
dalam masa yg singkat dan dgn cara yg selamat".
hehehe...

dalam bebanyak date dia tuh,
yg sorang tu je yg aku suka.
Karrie answer one of the personal ads
dan bila dia sampai di tempat yg dijanjikan,
she met org lain punya dates.
tapi kelakarlah moment tuh.
apart from that, takde mende sgt
yg menarik minat aku.
ni pun one of the reason
apsal aku LAMBAT SGT nak abiskan buku ni.

ada free time weekend nih.
i have no more books to read...
so monch geledah almari adik
and i found few teenagers book.
what do i got to lose?
and so, i picked this one:-

it's like watching That's So Raven plus Lizzie McGuire...
only this time...it's thru a book.
A great book.
Coz it's lightweight,
it makes me laugh
and I finished it in less than 2 hour.
so i guess...
if you need something to revive your spirits
in such a short time without having to do
something physical...
read this book.

the main character is Lucy Lovering.
it's all started when her PE teacher
asked her class to write a short essay
about which subjects they want to choose
for their next term.
so, the book consist of Lucy's journey,
learning about herself...
"what makes me "me"?"

other than that, Lucy rasa intimidated
dgn kehadiran Nesta.
when Lucy best friend, Izzie spend more time
with Nesta, Lucy felt left out.
disaster strikes when Lucy and Izzie
were trying to track down a guy whom
Lucy had love on the 1st sight,
Mr MC (Mystery Contestant)
- izzie's nickname for the guy
and later...they found out that Mr MC
is Nesta's half-brother.

when someone mature (hah!) like me reading this book,
it reminds me when i used to think (those days ler)
that decision making was another hard thing to do.
and whenever i made a decision,
sometimes it confuses me whether i made the right decision for me.
see??? decision never ends.

a light, easy reading.
best jugak sbb tak membebankan minda
dan buku ni cepat diabiskan.
takde la rasa guilty ..kalau monch baca buku tebal tebal
berhari hari...pehtu tak abis abis jugak
walaupun dah fokus bebetul.

well, i got the message after reading this book.
not that important , serious stuff...
but at least it makes me smile
that i have gone thru that phase
and will forever miss those times.

The Hot Zone

Read this book recently:

Hard copy all 300 pages bought from Pay Less Books for only RM5.00!!!

To assist would be readers here is one review:

"Suffering...Death...Unanswered Questions. The Hot Zone, written by Richard Preston, gives terrifying insight into the world's deadliest viruses."

"Ebola is a cell destructive, population devastating virus. It releases its fury in flashes...KILLS...and disappears just as swiftly as it came...leaving nothing alive."

"Ebola multiplies inside the cell while it's still alive. Until it bursts out spreading father, to more cells. It destroys the body while the victim is still alive. Finally the end comes for the unfortunate being, in a bloody seizer; the splattering of the blood sends virus filled droplets to new hosts, tickets for suffering and death that once taken cannot be returned. "

"The unpredictability of Ebola makes it difficult to study, but Richard Preston traces back known outbreaks in attempt to find the origin of the only disease that can send shivers up the spines of virologists and biochemists, in protective suits."

"The Characters are hard to follow in the beginning because there are so many. They seem unimportant since it's just several short stories, but by the end the stories begin to twist and weave together as they grow like vines in a forest."

"The stories...true, the facts...precise, the details... fascinating, from an anatomy fanatics point of view. It's also a great book for biology students because of the vocabulary. It often goes into details about tools such as electron microscopes, which you'll have to learn about anyways, so why not get a head start. For those of you with weak stomachs and/or hearts stray far from the studies of the only virus that kills 9 out of 10 victims. Choose to remain ignorant to Mother Nature's greatest form of torture."

"I strongly recommend you pick up and enter into "The Hot Zone" and join the author on his journey to find the origin of mankind's greatest threat."

Yes, it is a true story. I have never read anything like it ever. Not far from the Washington Monument, just outside Washington DC, there was this Army research facility (USAMRIID). They had different level of biosafety for various labs within. For Level 4, those entering the facility would have to be dressed in space suites....:kant: Then something happened.....!

You would learn how the virus "crashes" into the human race. I ain't touching any monkey from now on.........!  :no::no:

hari ni baru mula baca buku "laughter in the dark" oleh Vladimir Nabokov...

John Updike pernah berkata (mengikut amazon.com)..."Nabokov writes prose the only way it should be written that is, ecstatically."

Nabokov pula dikatakan pernah berkata 'Laughter in the Dark' was one of his worst books...tapi... his worst book is worth a whole lorry load of garbage blockbusters and pulp fictions in the estimate of many...i agree...

semalam, sementara tunggu member...
monch hang out kat Kino.
ternampak buku ni:-

alangkah bagusnya kalau ada
illustration book macam ni dlm Bahasa Melayu.
i find it simple yet satisfying.

it's about a boy who found
a penguin at his door.
he assume the penguin is lost
and then he try to send the penguin back
to where it belong.
(budak tu bertanya dan mencari asal usul penguin tuh).
and finally, he found out that
the penguins are from the South Pole.
so they set up a plan
and together they went to South Pole with a rowboat.
during the journey,
those two chat bukan main lagi.
(though the penguin can't reply a word).
when they reach South Pole,
the boy left the penguin there
and he went away.
but then he realize his mistakes -
"that penguin was not lost, he was just lonely..."
the boy returns for the penguin
only to find the penguin was actually
trying to find him too.
they went back home in the end.

what a fine story.

Aku tak pernah ekstatik dengan prosa Nabokov. Kurang emosi, terlalu sangat ingin jadi bijak.

Title: Coraline
Author: Neil Gaiman

Since it is a children's book, and the fonts are big, I finished reading it in one hour.

Now, how should I start my review?

Thanks to Neil Gaiman (the writer), I would NEVER EVER looked at buttons the same way again!

The buttons I meant, it sent shivers in my spine. Because the evil characters had black buttons for their eyes.

Coraline is engaging, fast paced and scary. Yes, scary for a children's book. But I applauded Coraline because she's brave little girl who embarked on a quest to save her parents.

It is interesting though, she opened a door and stepped through it. She found herself in a house which was strangely similar to her house, but it was only better.

She found another mother (the other mother) and another father (the other father). They were thin, white and had buttons for their eyes. They want her to be their daughter and they want her to stay with them forever.

When she came back to her real world, her parents were gone. And that's when her journey to overcome her fear started.

The other mother loved challenges, and Coraline started a game. If she won, she can go to her real home and if she lost, she will stay with the other mother and be an obedient daughter.

Yes, she managed to saved her parents and other ghost childrens as well. But that's not the end of it...

I do think it is really not recommended for a children below 11 to read this. It was hard to digest and small children will be having nightmares after finishing it.
