Fabio Borini is close to becoming Brendan Rodgers’ first signing after Roma’s Sporting Director confirmed interest in the striker today.
Walter Sabatini has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in Borini at a press conference today:
“There’s a real interest in Borini from Liverpool. We are evaluating it.”
He also said that he would be discussing a potential move with the player and it remains to be seen if Borini himself is open to a move to Liverpool.
This comes after BBC Sport’s Ben Smith claimed a few days ago that the Italian club was in talks with Liverpool over a potential transfer.

The striker is set to be one of the signings mentioned by Rodgers in yesterday’s press conference after he claimed that two deals could be concluded this week.
Borini signed for Roma from Parma earlier this summer after the co-ownership deal between the two clubs expired.

Sam Allardyce wants to sign Liverpool's Andy Carroll for West Ham
Sam Allardyce is believed to be about to make a bid for Liverpool's England striker Andy Carroll. West Ham are proposing an initial loan with a view to buying the 23-year-old for around £15m who signed from Newcastle United for £35m in January, 2011.
West Ham, returning to the Premier League after their relegation last year, may face opposition for Carroll from a number of other clubs after reports emerged suggesting Liverpool had let it be known that they were willing to listen to offers for the player.
Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, said on Monday that the possibility of loaning Carroll is "something I would have to look at" although he did indicate that he would give the forward time to see if he would fit into his plans at Anfield.
