Suarez hits three for Uruguay

Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick as Uruguay came from 2-0 down to win 6-4 in a friendly against Chile on Wednesday.

Uruguay's Olympic side were two goals behind when Liverpool's No.7 instigated a stunning turnaround, banging goals on 31, 35 and 47 minutes to leave the scores at 4-2. He was then substituted around the hour mark.

Edinson Cavani (2) and Abel Hernandez were the other scorers for the hosts during the 10-goal thriller.

Sebastian Coates was also in the Uruguay side.

Rodgers claims no quick-fix for Reds

Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool fans not to expect overnight success under his stewardship.

Rodgers was brought in from Swansea to replace Kenny Dalglish and he has vowed to play "the Liverpool way".

Dalglish ended Liverpool's six-year wait for a trophy with Carling Cup success, but they failed to deliver in the Premier League.

League glory is the aim for Rodgers, but he has suggested it is likely to take some time for the pieces to fall into place.

"The challenge is immense, let's be under no illusion," he said. "But I certainly think that a club of our status and value to the football world can go again.

"It's going to take time. And whether it will be in my time, I'm not so sure. But I'm going to fight for my life to try to get this model of play that, hopefully, can change the history of the club.

"This is a club where trophies are what it has been about for many years. But, for me, running alongside that it's about putting in place a model to see the club grow. That is equally important. To build a group that challenges."

The Reds have been given the green light to discuss personal terms with the 21-year-old Italy international who will then undergo a medical.

The transfer should be completed in the next 48 hours and Borini will become manager Brendan Rodgers' first signing.

An agreement between the clubs was reached following lengthy negotiations after Borini made it clear he wanted to be reunited with the Northern Irishman.

Rodgers knows exactly what he's getting having worked with the highly-rated youngster at Chelsea and then signed him on loan at Swansea City towards the end of the 2010/11 season.

Borini joined Parma after his Chelsea contract expired last summer but was swiftly loaned out to Roma.

He made a big impression at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring 10 goals in 26 games in all competitions, and earned a place in the Italy squad at Euro 2012.

Roma bought half of his rights back in January when they entered into a co-ownership agreement with Parma and then last month they bought the other 50%, taking their overall spending on him to around £7million.

Rodgers made boosting his firepower the priority having seen Dirk Kuyt move to Fenerbahce and Luis Suarez called up by Uruguay for the Olympics.

With Craig Bellamy and Andy Carroll facing uncertain futures, Borini is unlikely to be the only striker signed by the Reds during the transfer window.

Borini and Dempsey, statistical view of two players rated highly by Rodgers

Two players that have been closely linked to Liverpool the past week are Clint Dempsey and Fabio Borini (Deal already agreed for Borini), both of them would fit into a 4-3-3 system that Rodgers rates highly. With Borini playing as the «middle» striker, with Suárez and Dempsey on the left/right.

On analyzing their last season performances , we find out they’re both great goalscorers.

Some stats to get to know Borini a bit better:

Over the course of his career, Borini has made 90 appearences scoring 39 goals. Scoring 0.43 goals per game, or every 157 minutes. The young Italian’s goal per game ratio places him in the same goal scoring echelon as the likes of Wayne Rooney (0.44) and Robin van Persie (0.42).

The following stats (courtesy LiverpoolScout.com) show Fabio Borini faired quite well for an ~£8million, 21-year-old striker, especially when compared with the likes of Luis Suárez, Daniel Sturridge, Demba Ba and Steven Fletcher.

Last season the Italian started 20 games and came off the bench 4 times. In these games he scored 9 times, scoring a great percentage of 25% of their goals while playing – more than any Liverpool player managed this season. He had a great impact on Rome last season, with winning percentage of the team increasing to 60% when he was on the score sheets. Borini had a pretty low percentage of his shots on goal last season (18/48), but of those 18 shots on target 9 found the back of the net, overall a fairly impressive shot conversion.

Although Borini is a finisher, not a player who is a part of build up play, he had a pass accuracy of 75% last season , much better compared to the man who’s been linked away from Anfield the past days, Andy Carroll with 63%. Rodgers will have to involve Borini in his building play, like he did in his time at Swansea, in Rodgers’ system every single player will have to live up to his role in the game. If we compare Borini’s passes per game to that of Danny Graham in Swansea last season, it’s its actually the same tally.

Over to Dempsey and his statistics, the guy had a great season for Fulham, being 4th on Premier League scorer’s list. That’s a great achievement for a midfielder – actually the only player to score more than Dempsey’s 17 from a midfield position ever in the Premier League, is Frank Lampard with his astonishing 22 goals in the 09/10 season. To go a little bit deeper in to his statistics he had a conversation rate at 15%, scoring 17 of his 109 attempts. The American is also a great passer, 83% of his passes ended up finding a team-mate, which is slightly better than Liverpool’s average last season – 80.9%. This guy would bring the team something that was sorely missed last season, someone scoring goals.

Only three players scored more goals than Dempsey last season; Agüero, Van Persie and Rooney. Three strikers, no player scored more goals from a midfield position in the Top 5 European Leagues. With a goal per start ratio at 0.53 or a goal every 169th minute, he’s got the best goal per game ratio from a midfield position since Frank Lampard in 09/10 season. To add Dempsey’s stats into the statistic-table before in the article, comparing Borini to other top strikers, Dempsey has 0.27 goals per game in his Fulham career – which is really good for a midfielder. He’s got 2.9 shots per game, which would be third on the table with his conversion rate being 16%.

tu pasal la fulham nak kan si krol tu agaknye..
rodger mmg nak men 4:3:3..kan teka teki katanye..

wa rasa rodger lebih pentingkan skill individu berbanding tektikal..
sb teka teki tu bkn tektik pn..tp lebih pd sistem permainan je sbnarnye..
liverpool nih dh lama sgt men tak sistematik..
maybe kalu teka teki nih berjaya..liverpool akan ada perubahan..
tp kita tak bleh la harap kejayaan dlm masa terdekat nih..
maybe mkn masa skit la..
n dlm 1-2 taun nih akan byak pertukaran player akan dibuatnye..

Rodgers keen to keep Maxi Rodriguez

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to hold crunch talks with Maxi Rodriguez as he attempts to persuade the Argentine to remain at Anfield next season.

Rodriguez is reportedly on the verge of returning to his homeland with former club Newell's Old Boys as he enters the final 12 months of his Liverpool contract. However, after taking over from Kenny Dalglish last month, Rodgers has made it known he hopes to be able to call upon Rodriguez next term.

"I have known about Maxi for a long time. He is experienced, a very good player and he will understand 120 per cent about the way I want us to play," Rodgers told the Mirror.

"I would like him to stay, but sometimes there are issues that surround that and I understand that - which is why I am speaking to him now.

"But I would love to have him here, I think he is a very good player. Whether it was starting or coming off the bench, he would be very good for our squad, because he understands what we want."

Rodriguez made just 20 appearances for the Reds in all competitions last season, and while Rodgers says he understands the difficulties faced by the Argentina international, the Liverpool boss remains hopeful of resolving the issue in the near future.

"He doesn't speak the language, it has been difficult for his family, so if a player like him wanted to leave, it would not be because of the club. I have had a couple of real good conversations with him. I know his thoughts and how he is thinking.

"It was a difficult season for him and he probably felt he should have played a lot more. We will hopefully see where he is at over the next couple of weeks and find a solution," Rodgers said.
