Buy share untuk mendapatkan teknologi?
Teknologi apa?

so, kenapa kita tak design sendiri kapal navy kita? |

NGV Tech Sdn.
A great platform for reaching world market for a Malaysian company... |

On a mission to woo Malaysia
2009/12/04
LANGKAWI: The South Korean navy guards the secrets of the ROKS Dokdo jealously.
On the mega-sized amphibious landing ship are posters picturing a hand with a thumbdrive and another hand pointing a gun at it.
The message is clear: The risk of taking information on this ship off board is not worth it.
However, the country didn't think twice about sending the Hanjin Heavy Industries-built vessel on a one-week voyage to Malaysia or, upon arriving, opening it up for journalists to poke around in.
The reason: Dokdo is South Korea's "salesman" as the country tries to soft-sell its ship to Malaysia, knowing it's looking for a multi-role support ship to replace the largest ship in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), KD Seri Inderapura, which was recently destroyed by a fire.
"Selamat datang ke Dokdo," said navy public affairs officer Lt Lee Deok Young, as journalists entered the cavern-like rear flooding deck in the belly of the 14,000-tonne vessel.
The greeting, in perfect Bahasa Malaysia, made it obvious how much the South Koreans want this deal.
The parade of reporters passed the loading area, normally filled with 10 amphibious assault vehicles and two landing craft, and made their way up steep flights of steps, past the crew's living quarters (the ship is capable of comfortably housing over 1,000 people) and into the bridge.
Lee explained that the bridge was usually closed to everybody except crew members.
"But our commanding officer told us to accommodate the journalists today," said the baby-faced officer.
The bridge overlooks the ship's deck from its majestic 23.8m vantage point. From there, you can see the fore "Goalkeeper" close-in weapon system, which defends the ship from incoming missiles and ballistic shells.
The fully automated system, also found in aircraft carriers and airfields, consists of an auto-cannon and radar which tracks incoming fire, determines its trajectory, then aims the gun and fires in a matter of seconds.
There's another Goalkeeper aftward as well, just in case anybody tries to be smart.
Lee was quick to extol the virtues of the vessel.
"Without this kind of a ship, you cannot take the commanding position in an exercise. You can only perform support duties. The Dokdo-class can control air, sea and landing ops," he said without the slightest hint of boastfulness.
Reminded that Malaysia will only buy vessels that come with after-sales support and technology transfer, Lee responded by pointing out South Korea's deal with Turkey that saw technology and maintenance being sent along with the K9 Thunder self-propelled 155mm howitzer.
"It won't be the first time we've worked with other countries," he said.
Still, South Korea will need to do a whole lot more if it wants to convince RMN chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar that Malaysia really needs such a huge ship.
Aziz told the New Straits Times later that the ship was futuristic and highly capable and, in terms of cost, would be "a whopper" -- something not very practical in the current economic climate.
Also, he said, a Dokdo-class vessel might be "too big" for Malaysia.
"For a ship to be operated properly, it mustn't be too big for the berthing space.
"The level of sophistication mustn't be too high either because it will cost too much to operate it."
