Barcelona vs AC Milan Player Ratings

Two Lionel Messi penalties paved the way for Barcelona to the Semi-finals as the defending champions beat AC Milan 3-1 (3-1 on Agg) at the Nou Camp.

AC Milan
Christian Abbiati - 7
Old is gold. Did everything right to keep the ball out apart from the two penalties and the unfortunate deflected ball off Mexes that landed in the path of Iniesta.

Alessandro Nesta - 5
After a squabble and some shirt pulling on Busquets, Barcelona got a ridiculous second penalty of the game and he got himself a booking. We would expect more from someone of his experience and stature.

Philippe Mexes - 5
No better than his defensive partner as he had a part to play in two of the three goals Barcelona scored.

Luca Antonini - 5
The left back gave away a cheap penalty after some lazy defending, bringing Messi down after the back four couldn't clear their lines. Any Barcelona player who attacked him could easily dance past him, especially Alves.

Ignazio Abate - 5.5
The downfall of the current Milan side is definitely their fullbacks. Caught out of position after a few over enthusiastic attempts to bomb forward and was nowhere to be seen when Iniesta had so much time and space to pick his spot.

Massimo Ambrosini - 7.5
He must have been exhausted after he spent the whole match chasing the Barcelona shirts especially on a day when his incompetent defenders were letting Barcelona have their way.

Kevin-Prince Boateng (69' off) - 6
Was not productive with the ball and barely threatened the Barcelona defense, let alone the keeper.

Clarence Seedorf (60' off) - 5.5
Had an excellent game at the San Siro but did not fare too well on his travels, probably because he was playing on the left instead of his more familiar central role?

Antonio Nocerino - 6.5
Had the nerves to slot the ball past a helpless Valdes after Milan first real attempt on goal and disappeared after.

Robinho - 5
Things would have been very different if he had scored from that glorious opportunity in the starting minutes of the first leg. Although the referee blew for an alleged handball, he could not even put the ball past Valdes in a one on one situation.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 6
Could not make a difference in front of goal, probably because his side barely had a sniff of the ball.

Substitutions
Alberto Aquilani (60' on) - 5.5
The least disappointing Milan substitution, but failed to have an impact on the game whatsoever.
Pato (69' on, 83' off) - 5
A rather pathetic return from injury, limping off the pitch minutes after his introduction.
