The super-hero must be gay because he is the apex of men's (ultimately futile) struggle to keep their feminine side suppressed. The ultimate embodiment - if you like - of a man's denial of his own psyche.

Because such heroes are imbued with superpowers, or have otherwise Alpha characteristics that seemingly make them more "male" than most men, one could assume that to mean they have conquered - if not annihilated - their feminine side.

On the contrary, I would like to argue that what it actually shows is their inability to live in harmony with their feminine side. Hence, the more manly they try to portray themselves to be, the more womanly they actually are.

These men don't understand that they cannot flush out what cannot be flushed out. Look, even if you were to pump yourself full of male hormones, the fact remains that a man - every man - will always be made up of an X-Y pair of chromosomes, where the X is a female chromosome. So one half of every man really is a woman, no matter how you look at it.

So, try as they like, their femininity is still in there somewhere, lurking, waiting for the right outlet to come out. In running away from it rather than accepting it, all they are doing is simply giving rise to a perpetual emotional tug-of-war within them that they are often not even aware of. They create an imbalance within themselves that gives rise to fragile egos, fake macho-ness, exaggerated male-ness, etc.

The fragility of their masks becomes apparent once they are forced into a situation where they have to face their feminine counterpart - in prison, for example, or an all-male boarding school. Here, they will either become X-X (ie, total "female", the subjugated, someone's "bitch") or Y-Y, meaning the ultra-male, the subjugator, the "*****".

But don't let the Y-Y fool you: it's probably still just an act. The Y-Y male is just as uncomfortable with his femininity as an X-X male; it's just that he chose to bury it by asserting themselves over other males. The Y-Y male, the so-called Alpha male, is still just a ***** in disguise.

So who are the real men, then?

Real men are men who have learned to accept and live with the duality of their psychological make-up. Like the Prophet Muhammad or Ali Abi Thalib. These men are not afraid to show their softer, sensitive sides. They're not afraid to roll up their shirt-sleeves and get down to mixing flour with their women. Ali shed tears openly at Fatima's grave. Why? Because these real men embrace their X chromosomes. They are comfortable with their own sexuality. They know who they are and where they stand. And so no one can subjugate them, sexually.

A she-man, on the other hand (like that perpetual boy, the laddish Satria-driving, rayban-wearing type) is so afraid of his feminine side because he is insecure in his sexuality. So, in an effort to run away from his own image, he swings the other way, towards the "macho" spectrum, in a bid to convince himself and others that there is not a whit of womanly grace about him.
