Liverpool FC look to sell Alberto Aquilani
LIVERPOOL hopes to finally offload Alberto Aquilani after Brendan Rodgers told him he is not part of his plans.
The Italian was allowed to fly to Rome on Saturday in a bid to secure a move back to Serie A instead of returning with the Liverpool squad to Merseyside following the completion of their North America tour.
Fiorentina are believed to be frontrunners for the 28-year-old, who cost Liverpool £20m in 2009, although the former Roma star’s £6.5m a year wages, could prove to be a stumbling block.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are closing in on a deal for Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen.
The Reds are confident they can see off the attentions of Tottenham Hotspur for the Wales international.
Liverpool are also hopeful they can secure the player, who is keen on a move to Anfield, for less than the £15m buy-out clause in his contract. |

Atsu is 20-years old and plays most of the time as left winger. He is known for his pace and powerful shot, mainly with his left foot.
He was chosen player of the season in Rio Ave last season, scoring six goals while making four assists.
Tottenham and Everton have previously regiestered interest in him. |

Sterling in LFC squad for Europa qualifier
Seventeen year old winger Raheem Sterling has been included in Liverpool’s squad for their Europa League third round qualifier against FC Gomel of Belarus on Thursday.
Sterling wrote on his twitter “getting my stuff together travelling to belarus tomorrow never been a better feeling”.
Forward Dani Pacheco though has not been included in the squad. He wrote “unfortunately I’m not involved for the match on Thursday. I will keep working. Always. One day it will come.”
And another youngster, Spanish midfielder Suso, also tweeted to say he would not be in the squad – before later deleting the tweet. He said “back with the reserves on tuesday… nothing changes”.
Suso showed his frustrations but his exclusion from the squad may be more due to his involvement in the European Under 19′s Championships prior to him joining the squad in North America. Perhaps once this was explained to him he removed the tweet.
The Reds official squad list has been posted on the UEFA website, but that list can be changed after the first leg this week. |

Spanish press say Daniel Agger could be very close to Barcelona move
The Daniel Agger to Barcelona rumours just won't go away and the Spanish press have pushed him into pole position in terms of defensive targets for Barcelona. Javi Martinez had been the Catalan's club first choice but the player won't cause a fuss at Athletic Club Bilbao to make the club bring his price down to a level Barcelona find acceptable.
AS,one of Spain's largest sport outlets, says that Barcelona could be 'very close' to bringing in the defensive cover Tito Vilanova wants. From all the targets who had been linked it seems Agger has jumped to the front of the queue because Barcelona believe it would be possible to sign him at what they feel is a reasonable price.
It's not just AS running a story on him today, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo say that Agger is moving into the forefront but wasn't the club's first choice. Another Catalan outlet Sport, say the exact same thing as AS - almost word for word. Sport also report that one final attempt will be made to convince Javi Martinez to do all he can to force a Barcelona move, but then the club will move on to other targets - namely Agger.
Daniel Agger moved to Liverpool in 2006 from Bronby and when both him and Skrtel are fit and on form they are a good defensive partnership for Liverpool. The club brought in Sebastian Coates last year and it's assumed that he'd be a long term centre back for them, a big offer for Agger and any desire the player shows to leave could make Liverpool likely to take the money and invest it elsewhere. |
