WONDER GIRLS TO WOW BANGKOK

Korean fever seems to hit the Kingdom's stage even harder this year. First there was the SMTOWN live concert which gathered six of Korea's top groups totalling 37 artists on the same stage at the Rajamangala National Stadium last Saturday. Next on the hot list is the Wonder Girls, who will be performing for the first timein Thailand at Indoor Stadium Hua Mark on Sat, Feb 28 at 5pm.
This is considered a historic concert for Thai fans as they will have he privilege to witness the hot girl group's premiere full-scale show ahead of everybody around the world, even the Koreans themselves.
Carefully selected and specially trained under legendary producer Jin-Young Park's highly disciplined and effective JYP Entertainment system (who has successfully produced Asian pop superstar Rain), the five-member group debuted in Feb 2007 with their mini album The Wonder Begins.
Thanks to their smash hit song, the catchy hip-hop dance track Irony, the Wonder Girls immediately made their mark on the K-pop scene as new artists to watch.
But with the September 2007 release of their first studio album, The Wonder Years, the Wonder Girls broke out big time with their breakthrough, chart-topping single, Tell Me.
Fuelled by a retro electro 80s vibe, Tell Me sparked a nationwide Wonder Girls craze that had fans of all ages and from all walks of life- students, stewardesses, policemen, pro athletes, celebrities and even drag queens - creating thousands of viral Tell Me dance videos.
Together with their new sexy image, the Wonder Girls released their new single, So Hot, in May 2008. The song topped online charts in the next few days.
The full single was released a month later, containing the title track, the rap version of Tell Me, This Time, and You're Out. With their tremendous popularity, they managed to be the top spot in every chart.
However, what made the girl group even hotter is perhaps the single Nobody from their third mini-album The Wonder Years - Trilogy. As soon as the album was released in Sept 2008, they were ranked in number one spot. This also secured their place as the Korea's representative female group.
The song Nobody went to No. 1 on KBS' Music Bank, staying there for four consecutive weeks, and also won Cyworld's Song of the Month award in Sept and Oct in the same year. It also won Song of the Year and Best Music Video awards at the 2008 M Net MKMF Awards.
Emerging as one of Korea's best-selling and most popular acts of2007/2008, the Wonder Girls have been embraced as the nation's sweet little sisters. And with their high-profile forays into acting, modelling and TV show hosting, they are now widely regarded as Korea's top female K-pop group.
The Wonder Girls comprises five pretty, leggy yet talented girls aged 16 to 20. They are lead vocalists Sunye and Yea-un, vocalist Sunmi, rapper Yubin and lead dancer/vocalist Sohee.
Setting their sights internationally in 2009, the five girls areprepping to bring their wonderful, wonderland adventures across Asia and into America.
Joining in the "Wonder Girls Live in Bangkok 2009" concert as guest artists are 2PM, a seven-member hip-hop boy band from Seoul.
