Andrei Arshavin To Arsenal Move Confirmed

The Russian has finally signed a deal with the Gunners, according to media reports in England....

It was undoubtedly the longest running Premier League transfer sagathat ran from the start to finish of the winter window. However, itappears that the wait was worth it as Andrei Arshavin has all but beenunveiled as an official Arsenal footballer.

Gunners managerArsene Wenger stated last night that a "positive" outcome would beannounced imminently, and Zenit St Petersburg have also confirmed thedeal. All that is left to finalise the transfer is the Premier League'sofficial ratification of the paperwork.

Andrei Arshavin has today spoken out over the whole ordeal, he told Sky Sports that he thinks he is now an Arsenal player, and that he will sport the no. 23 on his back.

"I think [I am an Arsenal player]," the former Zenit hotshot is quoted as saying.

"The negotiations came to a close and the details will be revealed today.

"Now I can only say one thing: if I were to play for Arsenal then I would wear the number 23," he concluded.

If the deal goes ahead then the 27-year-old could be in line to make adream debut against Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur onSunday.

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Russian international midfielder, Andrey Arshavin has joined the Gunners from Zenit St. Petersburg on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.
