Assured and comfortable as ever on the big occasion, and massively effective too, when he blocked Jones' second-half toe-poke.
Joleon Lescott - 7.0
Lost the odd header to Jones but his aerial strength was crucial to City keeping the back door shut. Has ended the season very well.
Vincent Kompany - 8.0
Made an excellent 35th minute interception from a goal-bound Jones shot and stood up brilliantly to Stoke's direct style by mopping up nearly everything in the City box.
Aleksandar Kolarov - 6.0
Made some good romps down the left flank but his final ball was disappointing. Shot from an impossible angle soon after the break when he had a handful of options in the middle.
Micah Richards Top of the Match - 8.0
Immense display at right-back to completely justify his inclusion ahead of Zabaleta. Threw himself into the challenge in both penalty areas and his forward raids were laced with menace.
Nigel De Jong - 7.5
Had the central acres in a vice-like grip from first minute to last. His desire epitomised that of his team.
Gareth Barry - 6.0
Broke forward well from midfield in a slight departure from his normal cagey normal style. Withdrawn midway through the second period for Johnson.
Yaya Touré - 7.0
Mixture of the very good and the very sloppy from the big man. But the king of Wembley etched his name in City folklore with a brutally triumphant strike to follow up his brilliant goal in the semi-final against United.
Mario Balotelli - 6.5
No question about his appetite or work rate. Hounded City's defenders, tracked back and made some strong, direct runs. Lost his temper in the second half and gave away a few needless free-kicks.
Carlos Tevez - 7.0
Justified his starting place after a month on the sidelines. Had an early shot brilliantly parried by Sorensen and caused problems with his movement and ability to work himself space in the opposition third. Ran out of puff in the second half but got a standing ovation from the City fans when he was subbed in the 87th minute.
David Silva - 8.0
Slick display by the Spaniard,who ostensibly worked the right flank but popped up everywhere to lift a great occasion with his velvet touch and vision. But his lack of a killer touch is frustrating. Wasted a golden opportunity to give City a 35th minute lead when he smashed a volley from five yards into the turf and over the bar with Sorensen stranded.

Carlos Tevez undecided on future, but Roberto Mancini insists striker will stay at Manchester City
Argentine says that he has not made a decision concerning his future at Eastlands, while his boss claims the player will honour his contract and stay at the club
Carlos Tevez insists that he is still yet to decide whether or not he wishes to remain at Manchester City.
The Argentine moved to Eastlands in 2009, and has since been a stand-out player in the club's rise to a top four status in the Premier League.
The former West Ham United man also won the FA Cup with City on Saturday, ending a silverware drought that lasted 35 years.
But for a significant part of the season, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Eastlands - particularly after having handed in a transfer request earlier in the campaign.
There had also been reports of the forward having a difficult working relationship with manager Roberto Mancini, but the City skipper insisted otherwise.
"I need to rest, gather my thoughts and get together with my family. Only then will I start thinking about my future," Tevez said, according to the Daily Mail.
"I want to make it clear that I don't have any problem with Roberto Mancini, despite what people have written and said to the contrary.
"But I need to sit down with my family, because we need to make this decision together. I repeat, there is no problem with Mancini. It is a family thing. But really, I haven't made a decision yet."
City boss Mancini, however, believes that the Argentina international will choose to honour his contract by remaining at Eastlands.
"Tevez has a five-year contract staying with us," he told Sky Sports News.
"He has a five-year contract with us, he doesn't want to leave." |
