Bolton vs Man City Player Ratings
It was end-to-end football on show as Manchester City go top of the league table with an exciting 3-2 win over Bolton on Sunday.
Manchester City
Joe Hart - 6.5
Nothing he could do about neither goals conceded. Otherwise unbothered by a Bolton attack rendered impotent by the Manchester City defenders.
Micah Richards - 6.5
Assured and tidy performance in the first half, keeping Petrov quiet throughout. Also helped in the offense with runs up and managed to track back in time.
Vincent Kompany - 6.5
A typical display from the captain but was too bothered by Kevin Davies. Made the City half his with excellent ball-winning.
Joleon Lescott- 5
Didn't have much to do, but didn't mark Davies well enough when it came to set pieces. Was partly at fault for the second Bolton goal.
Aleksander Kolarov - 6.5
Pushed forward well and managed a few shots as well. Played well against a nonchalant Chris Eagles.
James Milner (Off 87') - 8.5
Played his best game in a City shirt so far. Hardly put a foot wrong with excellent runs and accurate passing. and was the architect of City's best moves, along with David Silva.
Gareth Barry -7.5
Dictated the play well from midfield, pushing the ball forward quickly and accurately. Did well to link play from the defence to attack and from flank to flank. Scored a powerful goal from outside.
Yaya Toure - 6.5
Performed well in a more withdrawn role today, sitting well in front of the back four, though his shooting skills are still suspect.
David Silva (Off 88') - 9
The main creative force of Man City, and got rewarded with a goal and the Man of the Match award yet again. The Spaniard twist-and-turned the entire Bolton defence until he came off near the end, showing great fitness as well.
Edin Dzeko (Off 80') - 8.5
Displayed his steady touch and control well, holding up the ball and playing it off to his teammates. Exemplary frontman performance. Rewarded with a goal after the restart.
Sergio Aguero (Off 68') - 5.5
Missed an absolute sitter. Could have done better, especially when compared to his performance from last week. Was kept quiet by an excellent Gary Cahill.
Subs
Carlos Tevez (On 68') - 6
Didn't show the tenacity nor the brilliance that endeared him to the blue side of Manchester last season.
Adam Johnson (On 80') - 6.5
Came on with 10 minutes late but still managed to show his ability to cut through defences, but missed a clean shot on goal.

1987: June 26 - Born in Marseille.
2004: Makes senior debut for Marseille after having joined the club aged nine.
May - Wins UEFA Under-17 Championship with France.
2007: March - Makes senior France debut in friendly match against Austria.
May - Named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year.
June - Scores first goal for France when he nets in 1-0 Euro 2008 qualifying victory against Georgia.
September - Is hospitalised with a meningitis-like virus.
2008: May 22 - Nasri's agent reveals Arsenal are one of a number of clubs to have made an offer for the player.
May 28 - Named in France squad for Euro 2008.
June 3 - Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirms interest in Nasri.
June 23 - Announces on his official website that he has signed a four-year contract with Arsenal. However, he later retracts this, while Arsenal insist the deal is not complete.

Manchester City FC is delighted to announce the signing of Samir Nasri, who has become Roberto Mancini's fourth signing of the summer.
The French international joins the Club from Arsenal on a four-year deal and will meet his new team-mates on Thursday. He will wear the number 19 shirt.
Nasri follows in the footsteps of Sergio Aguero and Stefan Savic as well as fellow former Gunner Gael Clichy in making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.
The 24-year-old, adept in both wide and central roles, arrives in time to merit consideration for Sunday's game at White Hart Lane against Tottenham, his former club Arsenal's fierce rivals.
Born and brought up in Marseille, Nasri joined his hometown team at the age of nine and rose through their youth system before making his senior debut aged 17.
He was named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year for 2006/07, and made his senior international debut in March 2007. He joined Arsenal in the summer of 2008 after the European Championships.
Nasri began his Gunners career in fine style, scoring on his Barclays Premier League debut against West Brom in Arsenal’s opening game of the 2008/09 season.
His first year in England brought 44 appearances and seven goals. A broken leg in pre-season interrupted his progress but he bounced back to fitness and goalscoring form.
Named French player of the year for 2010 and was short-listed for the 2011 PFA PLayer of the Year alongside Carlos Tevez.
Nasri scored 15 goals in all competitions last season and will wear the No.19 shirt for the Blues. |
