Ferrari better without Schumacher - Alonso

In a different twist on the debate surrounding Michael Schumacher's comeback, Fernando Alonso has said Ferrari has benefited from the move as it has allowed him to settle in quicker with the team.
Schumacher, who had remained close to Ferrari after retiring in 2006, switched to Mercedes over the winter. "Now, maybe, we're a little freer," Alonso told Corriere della Sera.
Asked if Scumacher's return to action surprised him, Alonso said: "A lot. With the calm life he could have lived and with such a past."
As to his own career at Ferrari, Alonson was clearly happy. "I expected to come to the strongest team and be able to benefit from the potential. But Ferrari is much more than that. It's a passion, a philosophy, a way of life. I'm consumed by it ." |
