Red-carded Rooney avoids further punishment

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will not face any further disciplinary action from the FA following his red card at Fulham on Saturday, despite raging at the referee and punching the corner flag on his way off the pitch.

The fiery forward was sent-off for two bookable offences during his side's 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage and will serve just the regulation one match ban after referee Phil Dowd confirmed that he was not sworn at by a visibly angry Rooney.

The FA will write to the 23-year-old United star however to issue him with a formal warning about his conduct; but the only fixture he will miss is the April 5 clash with Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

An FA spokesman said: "We have clarified with Phil Dowd that there was no abuse from the player after he was dismissed.

"In relation to the incident when he punched the corner flag, the referee did not see that and we have written to Wayne Rooney reminding him of his responsibilities."

Rooney is currently on international duty with England and with no further punishment pending he can focus on England's friendly with Slovakia on Saturday and the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine in midweek.

terus terang aku agak risau dgn naseb Man Utd menjelang akhir musim..

aku x peduli dgn prestasi Liverfool sbb aku lbh fokus pd aksi team sendiri yg x menentu.. :@ :@

mujur,international break skrg nie so sdkt sbyk pressure boleh dilupakan seketika tp lepas nie back 2 back game counter part with aston villa n porto in 3 days is crucial with our current performance..

i don't know if tok alex will prepare the different team but with rooney,vidic n scholes plus berba in doubtful so means the option is short for villa game..

tevez,park n anderson who will have a long journey also maybe not to be consider for villa game..

68 games for quintuple

Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United will need to play a total of 68 games to achieve the unprecedented quintuple.

Already, the Red Devils have played 51 games in all competitions this season.

28 league games, 15 Carling and FA Cup games and finally eight Champions League matches.

Even though the United players suddenly look jaded and out of sorts, they will need to get back into their stride fast as a further 17 games stand before them and the elusive quintuple.

The other three English giants, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea will not have to play that many games if they all progress into the finals of each tournament they are involved in.

Arsene Wenger's Gunners and Guus Hiddink's Chelsea will each play a maximum of 61 games while Liverpool will hit the 58 game mark but this will only happen if the clubs continue to get past every round of each competition.

naseb baik one ban game but utk lawan Villa a lot of first team member maybe not very available cuz of international game..
