finally.. finished the eight by katherine neville... cerita yang complex, semua ada chess, maths, science, music, history, romance..etc..etc.. ada jugak theory mengaitkan renown figures.. ala da vinci code tapi more complex & byk sangat info sampai kadang-kadang lost interest pulak, overall not so bad, tapi not so good jugak..

Middlesex by Jeffery Eugenides.



The story is about a hermaphrodite [part girl, part boy].
Calliope Stephanides discovers something is wrong with her
at the age of fourteen.

If and only if Dr Nishan Philobosian notice something amiss
when Callie was born, then the story would be told the other way round.
Citer ni start best bila Callie and her parents went to New York
to seek treatment at the Sexual Disorders and Gender Identity Clinic.
Dr Peter Luce conclude that Callie should live as a girl.
But, the fact is, based on her history and whatnot,
Callie sebenarnya lebih cenderung hidup sebagai lelaki.
When she found out the truth [behind everyone's attention],
she ran away and start living on her own as a boy.

It ain't easy I tell you.
There's so much minor point in our life
that we took for granted and we never realize
how important it is to have
specific criteria that differ us from boys.

It's a good book.
Terbukak pikiran aku bila abis baca buku nih.
Takde orang yang nak dilahirkan macam tuh
and somehow,
we still outcast them in our community.
Biasala, manusia ni takut dengan benda/perkara
yg dia tak tahu atau tak paham.
So, that's it.
I'll continue with my other book's review later.

ok, after I finished reading Middlesex,
I start with Gabriel Garcia Marquez's masterpiece:
Love in the Time of Cholera [El amor en los tiempos del c髄era]



The author himself had once said in an interview
"you have to be careful not to fall into my trap"
Honestly, I did.
The story was crammed with too much details,
I got carried away and I can't put my whole attention
to what was going on with the story.

The story is about love.
Love that's so heart-rending,
it goes on and on even after
for fifty-one years, nine months and four days.

Florentino Ariza works as an apprentice
at the Postal Agency.
He meet Fermina Daza for the 1st time
when he send a telegram to Fermina Daza's dad
- Lorenzo Daza.
Since the first contact,
Florentino Ariza had been stalking Fermina Daza
masa dia pergi dan balik dari sekolah.
It wasn't easy as Fermina Daza
has a chaperone, which is her auntie.
But, who can deny such love so strong,
even her strict aunt
cuba utk buat buat tak nampak akan kejadian sebenar...
malah turut mengajar Fermina Daza
macam mana nak sambut cintanya si Florentino.

Macam citer Bollywood,
cinta mereka diketahui oleh ayah Fermina.
So, he meet Florentino eye to eye
and asked him not to see his daughter again.
He even send his daughter away
to kill whatever left in his daughter's heart,
and to make sure...by the time Fermina Daza is back,
she would completely forgot about her 1st love.

Walaupun berjauhan, mereka masih mengutus surat/telegram
[yg melalui jln berliku, seperti cinta mereka -
those letters/telegrams had to be send to many places
untuk mengaburi mata ayah Fermina]...
Memang tak dpt nak disangka...
setelah bertahun, melalui onak dan duri...
rindu yang sangat mendalam..
akhirnya bila Fermina Daza dirasakan
best to go back to her hometown,
Fermina memutuskan hubungan mereka.
She thought that their love was child like,
has no significant at all.

Florentino was crushed.
So crushed, he vowed to himself
that his heart belongs to her
and to her ONLY.

At the age of 21,
Fermina Daza was forced to marry Dr Juvenal Urbino.
I retrieve my focus back the moment when Dr Urbino died
and once again,
Florentino approaches Fermina Daza and
declares once more his vow of everlasting love.

After having 622 affairs,
Florentino is ready and try his very best
to steal Fermina's heart and never let her go.
One have to read this book
to discover the ending.

When I finally reach to the conclusion of the book,
I believe that sometimes love can be a disease.
Love can slowly consume you
if you don't know how to handle it
in the beginning.

p/s: punya DVD filem ini, tapi masih belum menontonnya.

my review:
No, the book does not need to be in the magic world to show its magic and evilness.
I am happy to note that Charlie Bone is living among humans and a perfectly normal child (except he is endowed with the gift of hearing people talking in pictures).
I am scared that the evil persons are always lurking nearby (this include Charlie's Grandma Bone and her 3 evil Yewbeam sisters; not like Voldemort who always seemed so far away).
I am truly happy that Charlie Bone befriends with other children who are not endowed as him (his best friends are Benjamin and Fidelio, not an endowed child - normal like me.. heheh)
I am glad the book does not lose its pace (I have read 4 books, currently).

Excuse me Ms Jenny Nimmo, I am officially your biggest fan from Malaysia. (I am glad I buy this series on impulse)

It's about a writer who doesn't satisfy with her life. She's a famous and successfull writer but somehow she feels something is missing. Her soul partner.
She's single and really desprate to feel what it's like to be a wife and having kids. She thinks that her life would be perfect with a family.
So, she offers a life swap through her column (for 2 months) and choose a most perfect life for her. But it's always greener at the other side

Personal review: Too fictional




A woman blurted out all of her secret to a stranger when she was flying back from a business trip (and she failed it)
The worst thing is, the man who was sitting next to her is the owner of the company she's working with.
She tried to avoid this mystery man but he kept aproaching her!

Personal review: Makes my heart pounding faster but it feels good!





This is a story about a young lawyer working in no.1 law firm in the centre of London.
She spent most of her time working. She never do the housework but she's a perfect lawyer and the youngest to be in the partnership.
She's looking faward to it and she knew she did it until she found out she made a her client lost 50 pounds.
How could she make the mistake? take yourself out of the curiosity by reading this book.
She was panic and her feet take her to a place where she never been before and accidentally went to interview for a maid.

Personal review: I feel it is too fictional how she end up to the interview for a maid




She's as round as watermelon after giving birth to her first and only child. She was so happy but something bad happened.
Her husband abandoned her. He has left her on the first day they became parents and supposed to share their new pride and joy.
The worse thing is he left her to be with an older woman and that woman does look old and that woman live below their appartment.
She was so depressed and didn't know what to call her little child. She flew back to her parents' house in Ireland and started a new life there.

Personal review: Full of surprises!

a little bit about the author : Basically madam Slater is an English lady who taught French at London University before she decided to become a writer. This book is her first novel.

finished the other boleyn girl by philippa gregory.. cerita simple tapi menarik, based on historical events of tudor family in 16th century..

movie version akan keluar soon, tapi cerita ni tak susah utk diadapt, fairly straighforward.. this is my first time baca author ni.. not bad walaupun tak sebagus sharon kay penman (in my opinion) - but i still enjoyed the book..

i have another book by this author, the constant princess.. will read later, right now starting to read atonement..

kisah adik dan kakak. Si kakaknya gemuk, tapi berjaya. Adiknya loser skit tapi hot. Pastuh adik tertido dengan bf kakak. Then the drama started. Dah buat movie pon, cameron diaz berlakon.


2. Little Earthquake-Jennifer Weiner
Cerita pasal bonding orang2 tengah mengandung. as usual, semua ada konflik tersendiri.
Ayinde is a beautiful, biracial newscaster who moves toPhiladelphia after her husband, a star player for the NBA, is traded tothe 76ers. She meets Becky, an overweight chef who plays the "pregnantor just fat" game every time she passes a mirror, and Kelly, anoverachieving event planner who has her whole life mapped out down tothe most minute details, after going into labor at a prenatal yogaclass. The three become fast friends, and come to rely on each otherfor everything from burping techniques to intense emotional support.The group grows to include Lia, a semi-famous Hollywood starlet wholeaves her husband and returns to Philly after a sudden tragedy.


3. Kitchen Confidential-Anthony Bourdain
OMG!!After reading two chick lit in a row, this is just a reading that I need. Biography tentang Anthony Bourdain, chef yang suka makan pelik2 tuh. (apa ek nama rancangan dia dekat AXN??gosh takleh ingat). Kalau baca buku nih and follow his series tuh, mmg terngiang2 laa cara dia cakap tuh. Book pasal how he get into being a chef, gross pon ada, cool pon ada. Recommended

Black Dagger Brotherhood series
In the past 9 days aku leh baca 3 books which is a record because selalu nyer dpt habiskan 1 novel in 4-5 days considering I only got time to read while in a train to and fro my office.. But buku ni what aku addicted and I抦 hooked with these series!!

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is an elite group of vampires working together to defend their dwindling race and rid the world of their enemy, The Lessers aka vampire slayers.  They will stand together protecting thieir lovers and their species. The Brotherhood consists of 6 brothers (Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Vishous, Thorment and Phury) and a human, Butch (the only human to be allowed within the Brotherhood). Each of them has their story which is told in the series..



Dark Lover

Darius, a member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood had a request. He want Wrath, the King and the Brotherhood leader to help his half-human daughter, Beth, through the transition (critical moment in a vampire抯 life when he or she transform into an adult. Some vampire did not survive during the transition). Suddenly Darius is killed and his daughter, who doesn抰 know who her father is and of course don抰 know she is half-human is completely alone. Wrath has no choice, he must honor his dead brother抯 request to protect Beth.

Wrath is the only purebred vampire in existence, has a personal vendetta against The Lessening Society. They killed his parents. His sole focus for centuries has been the eradication of this deadly menace. He doesn抰 give a damn about his duties as a King and he doesn抰 want to be a King. But when he met Beth, we didn抰 expect he is a romantic kind of guy. He didn抰 afraid to say it. It is through Beth that Wrath learned to feel and looks toward the future, of his life and of his species.

The scenes during the fights are violent and the language.. hmmm a lot of foul language. These are not like regular classic vampire story. These story are set in modern day, some hard-ass men who listen to hip-hop,  scarred, tattooed and totally alpha-male!  The bonding between the brothers are so strong and they will do whatever it takes to protect the brotherhood. Its completely one for all and all for one.



Lover Eternal

It is the 2nd book in the series. Rhage is a gorgeous and most attractive male in the Brotherhood. The brothers called him Hollywood because of his looks. Cursed by the vampire抯 deity in early 1800, he is possessed with a dark side that is danger to everyone called The Beast. The beast is a huge dragon with massive claws and sharp fangs live within Rhage body. It was a punishment designed for him to regulate his energy and moods. Whenever he gets out of control the beast will emerge, who doesn抰 know neither friend or foe. Rhage must use sex or violence to release the tension. He is well-known for his behaviour among women aka kaki perempuan.

When Rhage met Mary Luce (a human), Rhage fall in love instantly his feeling turns emotional. He is terrified he will hurt her. I love the part when Rhage sacrified for Mary Luce. And Mary Luce the only person who can help Rhage to control the inner beast.   



Lover Awakened

It is the 3rd book of the series. Unlike the other brothers who are all handsome and good looking, Zsadist is lean , scarred, pierced and shavenheaded. With menacing looks, he is the scariest among the brothers. He was kidnapped from his warrior family when he was an infant. Sold to Catriona, The Mistress (a vampire aristocrat) to be a slave. After his transition, The Mistress took to the dungeon and tattooed him as a blood slave. For a century he was her sexual plaything. She tortured him, raped him, allowed the other men to rape him and watch while she took pleasure and fed on his blood. Over time, Zsadist became numb and soulless.

Even after he was rescued by his twin, Phury, Zsadist still haunted by the physical and mental scars from the terrible past. Zsadist was so filled with hate, despair and self loathing he was almost an animal. Until he met a beautiful vampire, Bella.

Bella was kidnapped by a lesser who fallen in love with her. The lesser don抰 have intention to kill her like others but to kept her and abused her. Bella is rescued by Zsadist from the lesser and she clings to him as her saviour. She feel something toward him but Zsadist considered himself as unworthy of her. Zsadist does not allow Bella to feed through him because he fell his blood is dirty and corroded because of his past.

It takes such a strong women to heal such a damaged man and Bella is the women. We can feel Zsadist suffering and how he became after such brutal phase in his life. And also Phury, his twin also suffered almost as much as Z.

All in all aku mmg look forward to read the rest of the series.. skg aku tgh baca Lover Revealed, Butch's story. And Lover Unbound, Vishous's story in tow...

baru habis baca kasut biru rubina dari sufian abas, koleksi fiksyen pop untuk jiwa-jiwa hadhari vol 1.. buku ni nipis je, baca sekejap dah habis.. ceritanya pendek dan padat, memang tak boring baca.. expect the unexpected   my favourites are nenek oh nenek & mari menulis novel..

at last, i have finished reading this book by cecilia ahern

reason for abandoning it in the first place - the first few chapters are quiet slow, a tad boring
this is like my 5th attempt at reading it and i had to have lots of patience



Cecelia Ahern's debut novel, PS, I Love You, follows the engaging, witty, and occasionally sappy reawakening of Holly, a young Irish widow who must put her life back together after she loses her husband Gerry to a brain tumor. Ahern, the twentysomething daughter of Ireland's prime minister, has discovered a clever and original twist to the Moving On After Death concept made famous by novelists and screenwriters alike--Gerry has left Holly a series of letters designed to help her face the year ahead and carry on with her life. As the novel takes readers through the seasons (and through Gerry's monthly directives), we watch as Holly finds a new job, takes a holiday to Spain with her girlfriends, and sorts through her beloved husband's belongings. Accompanying Holly throughout the healing process is a cast of friends and family members who add as much to the novel's success as Holly's own tale of survival. In fact, it is these supporting character's mini-dramas that make PS, I Love You more than just another superficial tearjerker with the obligatory episode at a karaoke bar. Ahern shows real talent for capturing the essence of an interaction between friends and foes alike; even if Holly's circle of friends does resemble the gang from Bridget Jones a bit too neatly to ignore (her best friend is even called Sharon).

masa mula-mula baca, tension ngan holly sebab she cannot get on with her life, asyik-asyik nangis je, got soppy.. maybe if i am in her shoes, akan jadi camtu gak bila kehilangan suami.
tapi bila holly dah start terima kad dari suami dia, that's when the story started to grab my attention.. dan flashbacks between holly and her husband.. atau camna gerry tunaikan permintaan holly walaupun gerry dah mati.

a sweet story, i wish i can watch the korean movie.. they said it was more astounding
