Japanese woman who died in fall was wife of Malaysian influencer
SHAH ALAM: Police today confirmed that the Japanese woman found dead after falling from the fourth floor of a condominium in SS16, Subang Jaya, was the wife of entrepreneur and influencer known as Ridz Okumura.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, speaking at a press conference, said preliminary investigations suggested no foul play in the death.
He said the investigation however is ongoing.
"The case has been classified as a sudden death report (SDR). Nevertheless, we are conducting a thorough investigation and taking all aspects into consideration.
"Although it falls under SDR, the investigation process remains the same as a criminal inquiry. We will examine all possibilities, whether there was a criminal element involved or if it was an act by the victim herself.
"If any evidence or witnesses indicate foul play, we will reclassify the case accordingly," he said.
Hussein added that they have notified the Japanese embassy in Malaysia, as well as the victim's family in Japan.
He urged the public not to speculate or spread misinformation regarding the case.
"I advise people not to make negative comments without knowing the facts.
"The investigation is still ongoing, and we will carefully examine all aspects before making any conclusions," he said.
Hussein also confirmed that the victim's husband had been called in to assist with the investigation.
Ridz Okumura, whose real name is Abd Ridzuan Abdul Mutalib, is a social media influencer and entrepreneur focusing on hairstyling and hair products.
The media had previously reported how Ridz had announced his wife's death on social media.
"Alfatihah for my late wife, Akiko Okumura, who has left my son and me forever. Alfatihah," he wrote in an Instagram post.
Last Friday, it was reported that a Japanese woman in her 50s was found dead after falling from the fourth floor of a condominium in SS16, Subang Jaya.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the victim was discovered lying face down on the ground by a police patrol team that responded to an emergency call via MERS 999.

Lagi satu, kalau dia english teacher atau pernah jadi cikgu dia takkan ada masalah nak linger around dengan orang lain. Dia tak kekok dengan crowd. Ni dia macam suka bersendiri.
