Montezemolo misses Schumacher
Speaking to Gazetta he said, "We spent wonderful years together, and I gave him back the desire to race."
It is a well known thing that Montezemolo approached Schumacher with an offer of driving the red car if FIA agrees to three car per team option.
Schumacher however later joined Ferrari's rival Mercedes GP.
"At times I miss Schumacher. He has given so much to Ferrari, but has also in turn gained much."
He then referred to the forthcoming Partita Del Cuore charity football match, to be played in Modena early next week and featuring current Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella.
He said he was tempted to call Schumacher.
"A few days ago I was tempted to call him to ask him to play for us. But as the team carries the Ferrari name, I avoided it."
Speaking later on the current season, he was optimistic.
"This season, things are not as bad, and last week, Alonso did an incredible feat of coming from last place and finishing sixth."
While on current leaders of the constructor's championship, Red Bull, he said "Red Bull is strong but not unattainable."
