Nine celebrities, including a couple, have allegedly been using their fame to lure unsuspecting individuals to sign up for dubious investment and multi-level marketing schemes, Metro Ahad reported.

The celebrities, who allegedly cheated their victims of a combined RM2.975mil, are now on the police radar after many reports were lodged against them.

Among the celebrities linked to the bogus business and investment schemes were two artistes with fake Datukship titles.

One of them, a singer, who was famous in the 1990s, has been accused of fleecing several individuals, including other celebrities.

Another musician caught the police’s attention after victims lodged a report against the artiste’s company for money-laundering.

Two victims have also come forward claiming that their lives were disrupted when their names were misused by another popular celebrity for a similar scam.
